The Elector: Thoughts
William was laughing hard and struggled to maintain calm. When he successfully calmed down, He glanced at Ciel's hard gaze. From the looks of Ciel, He hadn't paid any attention to the display that had happened in front of him.
"Ciel?" William questioned, snapping Ciel out of his thoughts.
"Hn?"
"Are you alright?"
"Yes, I'm fine," Ciel responded, standing up.
"Dantalion, leave," Ciel ordered.
Dantalion gave Ciel a quizzical look before leading Lamia out of the room.
"I should go as well," Sadao said, walking to the door.
"I will need you in the future. Can I ensure you will answer my call?" Ciel asked.
Sadao glanced back at Ciel and eyed him with a sympathetic look. "Yes," he said.
Ciel nodded and Sadao left the room.
"William," Ciel began, "You're the elector for Hell's next ruler. Don't you think you should choose someone?"
William sighed and sat down. "I'd rather not. Their war doesn't concern me,"
"But it does," Ciel responded, "Satan has told us that he wants to merge the two of Our Worlds. Depending on who you elect, people will either live or die accordingly. So, can I trust that whoever you elect will benefit us?"
William scratched his head and looked away, "If, hypothetically speaking, I do elect someone then yes, they will benefit us. I'm not gonna elect an imbecile."
Ciel glanced over to his window and stared at the drawn curtains. "William, you're too trusting of your demons. Once you do choose, chances are that you'll have to kill the others. Choose wisely."
William was silent.
"Even so, never forget that they are demons; pawns for you to ensure your safety in this world. Don't be afraid to use them accordingly and don't get attached," Ciel continued.
William stood up, "I'm aware of that." He glanced at Ciel's passive face and couldn't help but admire him for his strength.
Not many Ciel's age could impress William in the way Ciel had. There was something about him that made William feel...connected somehow. As if the two shared more in common than He knew.
After several minutes of Silence, William left the room and headed to bed.
