Rex Pike was a firm believer in justice. A Slytherin wrongly placed in Hufflepuff—or so any who crossed his path asserted—he was fiercely loyal and filled with a kind of rage only someone of his height and size could possibly have, wanting nothing more than for his friends and family to be treated with the utmost respect, himself thrown into the mix.

So when he was hexed—accidentally, as he was constantly reminded—by Remus Lupin, there was no hope for the Gryffindor boy who found himself incurring the full force of the Hufflepuff's wrath. After all, a Muggle-born wizard left with an incurable scar, all prospects of heading back home to his family ended with him out on the streets. For that, Remus Lupin would have to pay.

So, in spite of all who told him to think rationally, Rex Pike decided that the only way to be repaid is by forcing Remus to do exactly what caused Rex so much grief: a dare. Multiple dares, really, as many as needed until the fear and rage in Rex's heart were quelled and he felt ready to face his family the next summer.

But as time wore on, Rex found that he had begun to grow fond of Remus, despite initial relations, and the two quickly found themselves to be unlikely companions as they tried to find cures for their scars; physical and otherwise.

AUTHOR'S NOTE

Here we are again! The set-up and layout is gonna be different, but I have a clear direction for this fic, so that'll be fun! I unpublished this just to revamp it's layout, but now I have this newfound excitement about the fic and I know that I say that a lot, but ya'll know me, I get stuff done, and I know I'm the #worst when it comes to Harry Potter fics but you know it'll be fine.

While no characters from other books appear in this one, I'd like to just mention this takes place in the Silver Linings Series, but it's more simply by name than connection for this particular fic.
