twenty-six.
donghyuck has been busy with a lot of files today, as usual. printing, sending emails to different people, and making calls if necessary.
in fact, everyone inside their office is busy. the only thing you can hear for the past hours is the clicking of keyboards and papers.
once again, donghyuck is inside the ceo's office to tell him about his schedules for the day and collect some of the files that he's going to work on.
standing just in the middle of the superior's office, the secretary had already told him about his schedules, and now, he was just waiting for mark to hand him the folder. "mr. lee, i'm only here to tell you about your schedule and get the file i'm going to be working on." he chuckles, looking at the older in front of him who's leaning at his table.
"you don't have to, i can work on it." mark excused. honestly, he just didn't want to give his secretary a lot of work.
the younger noticed mark's hand behind his back, and he can already tell he was just hiding the folder from him, "it's my job, mr. lee." he chortles, walking closer towards the superior.
"but i've already worked on it." the older confessed, clutching the folder tightly even though it was impossible for donghyuck to snatch it from his grip.
donghyuck shook his head in disbelief, "what, really?" he breathes out a laugh. "well, then i'll just print copies of it." he extended his hand out for mark to give him the folder.
"alright." mark chuckles, finally giving his secretary the folder. "i think one of them is working on the second file, maybe you can also print those." he continues, while pointing at the people towards the younger's office area.
"i see." donghyuck nodded, turning his heel around, intending to leave the place.
yet donghyuck heard his name being called, once again, by his ceo which made him turn around, instantly. "please come to my office once you're done," the ceo told as he hides his smile, "i still wanted to stare at you."
"mr. lee, you can stare at me all you want this weekend." donghyuck replied with a small giggle, "but sure, i'll come back once i printed all of these."
the secretary finally left the office, leaving a blushing ceo.
donghyuck went back to their office area to search for someone who has the second file mark was talking about.
so he started walking up to them, asking them about what file they were working on. he soon stopped in front johnny's table and pats him on his shoulders.
"johnny hyung?" donghyuck calls.
the taller soon lifted his gaze from his computer screen once he heard his name being called, "what's up?" johnny greeted causally.
"are you working on the other file of this?" he questions as he handed the folder to the older and johnny gladly took this.
just as he opened it, he can already tell this was not the file he was working on. "oh i'm not working on this," johnny told, handing it back to the younger, "but i saw sungchan working on it earlier."
"oh really?" the younger's ears perked up.
johnny nodded his head. "he's probably in the printer room right now, but i'm not sure."
"alright, i'll look for him there." the younger replied, before patting johnny's back once again, "thanks, hyung."
once he received another small nod from johnny, he marched his way toward the printer room with the other file on his file.
opening the door, donghyuck soon recognizes a tall figure standing in front of the printer with his back facing him.
donghyuck soon made his way towards the younger and stood just beside him. "hey..." he breathes out a chuckle, nudging the taller's side with his elbow.
the latter finally noticed donghyuck's presence beside him, "oh, hey." sungchan's lips curved into a small smile.
"are you working on the second file?" donghyuck asks, lifting the folder so he can show it to sungchan.
once the younger saw the familiar file, he immediately nodded his head as a yes. "oh yeah, i'm making copies of it right now." he said, "a little more and i'll be finished with this. are you also going to use the printer?"
donghyuck nodded his head as a yes, while sungchan also did the same, not really knowing what to say anymore.
the two ran out of things to say and just stood there in awkward silence. looking at the printer like it's the most interesting thing ever.
while donghyuck is busy looking at the papers in front of him, a lot of thoughts are already floating in sungchan's head. one of them is his conversation with johnny and doyoung from that specific day, specifically johnny's words. "go for it." it's only him and donghyuck inside this room right now, what could go wrong?
"are you free this weekend?"
"so, how's work going?"
both of the two said in unison, failing to even hear what each other are saying properly.
oh gosh.
"huh?" donghyuck voices out in confusion as he didn't catch what the younger just said.
why did i have to say it now? sungchan thought to himself. i could've just stayed quiet.
"a-about my work?" sungchan said, trying to find a new topic to talk about, hoping that donghyuck wouldn't bring up what he just asked.
donghyuck lets out an awkward laugh before nodding his head, "yeah..." he breathes out a small laugh, "i was just wondering because everyone has never been this busy."
"o-oh yeah! well i mean it's hard but i guess that just means mr. lee's company is doing well." nice save, sungchan. he said to himself and if he can pat himself on the shoulder right now, he would. donghyuck probably won't ask about what he said earlier, right?
"i agree." donghyuck nods, "anyway, what were you saying again?"
the only thing that sungchan manages to do was to avoid eye contact and focused his eyes back on the printer. at the same time, he saw the papers are already finished printing which resulted in him releasing a small sigh of relief.
"oh uh.. nothing!" he released an awkward chuckle as he grabs the collection of papers. "i was just asking if you're free because i-i suppose you have a lot of things to do."
"free?" donghyuck tilts his head. "well yeah i am, but free for what?"
while sungchan signals donghyuck to scan the folder in his hands, the latter mindlessly did as what told yet his eyes remained on sungchan.
the younger just mentally face-palmed with his own words. he could've phrased that better—without making it too obvious.
the taller looked around the room as he rubs his nape, "the file that we're going to hand out for next week's meeting," sungchan started, every second that passes by he can feel as if his heart is about to jump off his chest, "are you free to do it with me this weekend?"
yes, just like that. maybe he can use this excuse to ask donghyuck out and maybe spend time with him this weekend, alone?
the older's eyes perked up as he released a sound, "oh! the one that we're working on?"
sungchan nodded. honestly, he can do that powerpoint by himself as he's already aware that donghyuck has a lot of work to do.
"are you perhaps free this weekend?" the younger slowly asks while observing the latter's features.
donghyuck's eyes wander around the room with his lips pressed into a thin line. he's somewhat free? "well uh... i already have plans this weekend night," he explained, "but we can meet maybe around ten in the morning... if that's okay with you?"
sungchan's lips are slowly starting to form into a smile as he nods his head to the older's words. "that's more than okay."
"i see!" donghyuck smiled back, "it's settled then." he noticed that most of the files are already done, so he picked those up and waited for the rest.
"oh uh... here's the files by the way." sungchan handed the folder to donghyuck as he just realized that he was already clutching it tightly out of excitement. thankfully it's not wrinkled enough.
"you go ahead first, i can wait for these." donghyuck said instantly receiving a nod from the taller.
a few moments later, the rest of the papers had finally finished printing. so donghyuck gathered all of it, together with the second file, and exited the room.
he immediately marched towards his ceo's office.
donghyuck notified him with a small knock before he opened the door. the sight of his ceo with his eyes focused on the computer screen greeted him.
although, this didn't last long when mark immediately noticed the younger's presence in front of him. the two immediately matched eyes and at the same time, they unconsciously smiled at each other.
mark leaned back on his chair as he sighs, "i miss you."
"mr. lee," his secretary breathes out a small laugh, "i was gone for twenty minutes."
———
weekend soon came faster than donghyuck expected.
he was now rushing his way out of his apartment as he woke up later than he was supposed to. wearing a random hoodie he saw on the end of his bed and a new pair of sweatpants, he immediately dashed out of his place while clutching tightly on his laptop bag.
he decided to wear something simple for now as he knows he won't be working on this powerpoint for too long.
after this, he also has to go back to his apartment to change to a new fit for his plans with mark.
right. of course he still hasn't forgotten about the plans he made with the older! heck, that was something he was most looking forward to the moment he woke up. even though he was busy stressing about how his alarm didn't work, mark is still the first person that came into his head.
he just needs this powerpoint to be over with and after that, he can spend all his time with mark.
donghyuck eventually grabbed a taxi of his own and immediately told the driver where he was headed to.
sungchan was actually the one that suggested this place to him, and turns out it was just twenty minutes away from the building of his apartment.
he was thankful enough that there was no traffic jam, which is understandable as it was a weekend, so he soon arrived at the coffee shop.
hurriedly making his way in, donghyuck's eyes instantly searched for a taller figure, and seems like sungchan saw him first. so the younger raised his hand to catch the latter's attention.
"oh!" donghyuck made a sound when his eyes landed on sungchan. the younger signaled for him to come and the older just did as what told.
"sorry, was i too late?" the tanned male asks, breathing out an awkward chuckle as he brings his laptop out of his bag.
"just a few minutes," sungchan replies with a small laugh, "but i don't mind."
when he saw the older pulling out his laptop, he pressed his lips into a thin line. he wasn't actually expecting donghyuck to be so into this whole powerpoint thing, he just wanted to spend time with him—well, after all, that was his goal in the first place.
he forcefully turned his disappointed smile into a fake one as he pull out his own device. "anyway, what's your order? my treat."
"woah really?" donghyuck chuckled, "you can choose, just surprise me with anything."
the taller nodded his head, not forgetting to shoot the latter a small smile, and made his way at the counter.
meanwhile, donghyuck had already started with the powerpoint. he thanked his past self for making a rough draft for this last night, in that way he can make this meeting a little quicker.
he was supposed to be preparing himself, mentally and physically, for tonight. he might look over dramatic over this but donghyuck couldn't care less. mark had just asked him out and that's what matter.
but the only thing that he needs to worry right now is, would he be able to focus on their work for today?
