Jealous, Are You?
request: Heeey! I thought bout "are you jealous?" kind of imagine with Peter Parker from MCU (in mid twenties maybe?)/ female!avenger!reader. Where he is jealous bout reader's and winter soldier's "close relationship" (she was frozen assassin too but she is still in her mid twenties), and Peter finally find some guts to tell her what he is feeling for her. Hope it is understandable :D
The tower was rather quiet this morning. Most everyone was out already doing their thing or were in their rooms keeping to themselves. It was rather nice, just having everything be calm for once. You were still adjusting to life in this century.
Lucky for you, however, you had Bucky. Of everyone, he understands exactly what you're dealing with. You were frozen just like him and you were used as an assassin. He gets you like no one else and you really rely on him. You've got quite a nice friendship with him and even look up to him as almost a mentor.
But, he wasn't the only one at the tower you had gotten close to since joining the team. There was Peter. He's the same age as you, technically. So, it's nice for you to have someone your own age who can show you the ropes. Plus, he's not too hard on the eyes and he's kind of awkward and adorable. Always cheery no matter what and definitely one of the least judgemental people in the living quarters. He didn't really bat an eye when he found out about you. Maybe that's part of why you'd clicked so well. He's just open to getting to know people, putting aside any bias he might have.
Nonetheless, you did spend your mornings with Bucky, usually. Which is why you're sat in the kitchen eating breakfast and having a light conversation.
"Continuing your training today?" Bucky asks.
"Yeah, Tony wants me training every day, still I guess." You shrug, taking a bite of your toast.
"Can't be too bad." The corner of Bucky's mouth pulls up.
"Nah," You shake your head. "Better than before." You give him a sad smile. "You wanna help today?" You ask but before Bucky could answer both of your attention is pulled to the side where Peter awkwardly comes in.
"Uh...s-sorry. Just getting a granola bar..." Peter looks to you and then to Bucky, quickly grabbing his snack before trying to exit the kitchen.
"Peter?" You ask, grabbing his attention before he could leave. "You okay?"
"Yeah, yeah." Peter nods, his demeanor very clearly off. "Just getting to ready to train." He mumbles before walking off.
"He seem weird to you?" You quirk a brow at Bucky.
"Isn't he always a little weird?" Bucky counters.
"True." You giggle, completely unaware of what Peter was thinking.
From the other side of the tower, Peter found himself with gloves covering his hands and Natasha in the ring ready to help him train. Natasha was the main person that would train with as Tony originally recruited Peter and she was one that made Peter actually try to take her down usually only self-defense. Natasha never really went easy on Peter.
But, as she runs through their routine, she finds herself having to push harder to knock Peter from his feet. He's more aggressive than usual, still not violent or inflicting pain. Still just self-defense but there's something with the way he's moving that suggests he's angry. At first, Natasha just thought Peter had woken up on the wrong side of the bed but it's been forty-five minutes and he's still glaring and his jaw is still clenched.
"Alright," Natasha sighs. "I think that's enough."
"We just started." Peter says, his voice almost a groan.
"You can finish by yourself. There's clearly something you need to handle." Natasha says as she exits the ring, Peter following right after.
"W-what's that supposed to mean?"
"You're putting real good effort in. You're pissed off. Hell, it's probably a good thing but I'm not going to work with you if you're only doing this because you're pissed off. Take some time to work it out and let me know when you're done."
"B-" Peter starts but is cut off when Natasha turns to give him a quick glare before exiting.
Peter sighs and walks over to his water bottle, squirting some the water into his mouth before moving to one of the punching bags. It wasn't that he was pissed exactly. It wasn't that he was pissed at all. He's jealous. He has had the biggest crush on you since you two were introduced. His eyes widened and his cheeks burned the second he saw you. But, he's still awkward and shy so he's never said a single word about it. And once you two started to get close, you became friends and at that point, Peter feared the idea of telling you his feelings. You're friends and you live under the same roof now. He didn't want to ruin anything but, that didn't stop him from being jealous of Bucky.
"Hey." You gave Peter a smile as you walked into the room not half an hour later. He was still taking punches at the bag, keeping his strength in check. "Nat said you could use someone to maybe vent to?" You question, your voice still a bit cheery, almost poking fun at him. He doesn't so much as glance at you though. "Hey, really," You walk to the side of him. "What's up?"
"Nothing." Peter huffs, catching the bag when it comes back to him.
"C'mon, what's up?" You nudge him with your shoulder but he brushes you off. "Okay...what'd I do?" You roll your eyes and follow him to one of the benches.
"Nothing." Peter answers again, using his teeth to undo one of the straps on one of the gloves before removing it.
You roll your eyes and cross your arms over your chest. "What's your problem, then?"
"Nothing." Peter grits his teeth. "Aren't you supposed to be getting ready to train with Bucky anyway?"
You scoff at his words. "Jealous, are you?"
"What?" Peter knits his brows together. "No." He pouts.
"If you say so." You sigh, waiting for Peter to eventually cave and tell you what his problem is.
"I-I just don't get it. We always train together and then you ask him and I don't get it." Peter rambles, trying to play it off as if he were just asking if he had done something for you to not want to train with him.
"Is that what's got you all pissy?" You furrow your brows. "We're friends, Bucky and me. Ya know, there aren't very many people who were frozen and then used as weapons so I kind of get along really well with him. You were gonna be training with Nat anyway, didn't really think much of it, not that I owe you an explanation on why I'm asking a friend."
"I-I didn't...I don't mean it like that." Peter sighs, his jaw loosening as he runs a hand through his damp curls.
"Well, it sounded that way." You let out a sigh. "What's really got you bothered? You know you can tell me anything."
"You-you just always tell Bucky a lot of stuff and you two just...get along and I don't know." Peter looks to the floor and shifts in his shoes, every annoyed and jealous piece of him completely evaporating into the air. "We're friends but...you're closer with Bucky." Peter bites his lip.
"Yeah," You chuckle. "Because he gets it and he helped me away from the people that were using me. But, you're my friend, too. Bucky is kind of like Tony, ya know? How you look up to Tony as a mentor. Yeah, that's Bucky to me."
"Tha-that's all?" Peter asks, his spirits very clearly lifting.
"Yeah." You give him a soft giggle. "That's all. So, you are jealous?" A grin creeps onto your face.
"I-it..I...it's not...I mean.." Peter stammers. "I...yeah...I like you..." Peter says, his voice trailing off with this last word as he rubs the back of his neck. "But, it's okay if you don't feel the same way. I totally understand and it's okay and-" You cut off Peter's rambling by cupping his face and pulling his lips to yours.
"Yeah, I like you, too." You whisper against his lips while Peter snakes a shaky arm around your back to pull you into him. Just as he connects his lips to yours in relief, there's a sound from the speaker.
"Okay, cut it out, kids." Tony's voice sounds and you two immediately back up. "You're supposed to be training, not making out. That's what your rooms are for." You both roll your eyes at Tony's sarcastic remark. "Well, get on with your training. Kids." Tony says before the intercom cuts out.
Peter's cheeks are flushed but he's beaming like the sun all over again. "Uh,-"
"We'll continue later." You wink while scrunching your nose. "I'll tell Nat you're good and I'll catch you after I'm done, yeah?" Peter nods silently in response, his voice caught in his throat.
