Chap 25
After the car sped off, it was certain Mr. Jass's men would give chase, but Ally had already anticipated that. She quickly lost them in no time. Without hesitation or delay, she took Dunk straight to the hospital.
"Hey, if you take him to the hospital, the police will find out."
"Um."
The doctor spoke up, and he wasn't wrong—going to the hospital could mean Ally and Joong would have to give up their line of work altogether... but that was exactly what Ally intended.
She slammed on the brakes at the entrance of a major hospital—a private facility known for its top-tier medical care. A team of nurses and doctors rushed out, helping to transfer the unconscious patient onto a large stretcher.
"Go in with him. I have to head back."
"But..."
"Just say you're family. If they ask about the bill, just mention Ally, they'll know."
"Oh, um..."
"And if they ask what happened, just tell them the truth. They need to know in order to treat him properly."
"Um."
After giving the doctor his instructions, Ally got back in the car and headed straight for Joong. By then, Joong had already made it inside and was standing in front of Room 2, rescuing the doctor's mother. He carefully knocked on the door and safely escorted her out before turning back to head inside and regroup with Oat.
From the moment they split up, Oat had made his way straight to the third floor, where he broke into the security room. He personally destroyed the entire surveillance system.. cameras, monitors, everything.. to make sure both Joong and himself would be safer. But the moment the alarm went off, Jass's men began to show themselves. They attacked relentlessly, overwhelming even Mr. Jass despite the two bodyguards flanking him.
Joong fought his way up from the second to the third floor, trying to reach Oat and the others. He'd barely taken a few steps when the deafening sound of gunfire erupted all around him. Luckily, the bullets weren't aimed his way.. yet.
"OATTT!"
Joong called out as loud as he could, hoping Oat would hear him. But the explosions were too loud, drowning everything out. His voice was lost in the storm of gunfire, leaving him no choice but to press forward. Dodging, retaliating, weaving through the chaos, he finally reached the last room at the end of the hall.. Mr. Jass's room.
He gripped his gun tightly, cautiously opened the door, and stepped inside.
"Boss!"
"All done? Let's get out of here."
"Yes, but... they're still outside."
"Haha, of course they are! You think you can catch me this easily just 'cause I'm stuck in here?"
Mr. Jass was still yelling defiantly.
*Gunshot*
"Ahhh!"
"I could kill you right now if I wanted.. let alone capture you. You touched one of my people. You've got some nerve... way too much."
Joong had fired a shot straight into Jass's abdomen not a kill shot, but one that would make him suffer. Painful, slow... he'd bleed out unless someone helped him.
The sound of the gunshot sent his men into a panic. They stuffed smoke grenades into the gaps of the door, filling the entire room with thick, blinding smoke.
Fortunately, the room had windows. Joong quickly rushed over and threw one open, letting the smoke pour out into the night air...
/Ally?/-x
That familiar car was speeding toward them. Joong wasn't entirely sure... but in that moment, he chose to believe—it was their salvation.
"Everyone jump! Now!"
"What about Jass?"
"Forget him. He's not making it out alive."
One by one, all seven of them jumped from the third floor, landing onto a pile of foam crates below. Luckily, the crates broke their fall without them, none of them would've come out in one piece.
Joong was the last to jump. As soon as he hit the ground, the others were already sprinting toward the car.. toward Ally.
No one noticed... high above, near the upper door, a sniper had taken aim.
*Gunshot*
"Ahhh!"
"BOSS!"

[Hospital]
"Family of patient Natachai."
"Yes, that's me. I-I'm his bodyguard."
"According to his current condition, both he and the baby are in critical danger."
"Wait—what did you say? The baby?"
"You didn't know? The baby is eight weeks along. His blood levels are dangerously low, and the baby is severely malnourished. We have to perform an emergency transfusion and provide nutrients, but... chances are, we may only be able to save one. I need your signature to proceed."
"I... I don't have that right. His husband—he's on his way. He should be here soon."
"The longer we wait, the higher the risk. Please call the patient's husband immediately. If we delay much longer, we might lose both."
"Y-Yes, I understand."
The doctor's face turned pale as a sheet. He didn't know what to do, he didn't even have Joong's number. In the end, he asked a nurse to call Ally.
[Call connects]
[I... I'm Dunk's doctor. Can you bring Joong right now? Dunk... he can't hang on much longer.]
