"Uno," Jennet said with a smug smile on her face.

Ronan sighed, placing down one of the ten cards that was still in his hand. Rocco followed by placing a matching green card, playing right into Jennet's hand.

"Why don't we make this more interesting?" The small girl asked, pulling out two crisp twenty dollar bills.

Ronan followed her lead, shoving his hands into his pockets only to pull out the five dollars he tried to use to buy breakfast this morning, to which Jennet stifled a laugh.

Rocco grabbed his brother's hand before he could place the wealth on the table. "What are you doing?" He asked in a hushed whisper.

"Making things more interesting. Come on it's three against one the odds of getting the money is in our favor."

Rocco met the girl's mysterious green eyes before letting go of Ronan's hand and allowing him to place it down.

"You in Monte?" Ronan asked, forking over a single twenty dollar bill.

Monte had returned twenty minutes prior, only to see Jennet beat Rocco and Ronan for the second time in the game. He hesitated, but figured that the chances of Jennet winning three times in a row was unlikely. He shoved the unopened rope and duct tape to the side moving over to the short table in agreement.

The sound of the cards slapping against one another echoed through the metal building. The game began simply. Everyone studied their own hand in the hope that a strategy would reveal itself.

"Yellow. Draw four," Monte announced, sending it over to Ronan.

"We are in the same team, bro." Ronan sighed, adding four new cards into his hand.

"I never agreed to that." He mumbled in reply.

"Blue," Jennet declared, playing a wild card. Her hand was quickly dwindling which caused Ronan to give Rocco a glare. He replied with a shrug examining his useless hand.

"Uno," Jennet said again, sending a smile to her last card.

The boys looked down at the remainder of their cards with hopeless eyes. But before Monte could draw a card that he prayed would match the red one that flashed on top, the door slammed open.

A huge silhouette appeared in the doorway. The light behind him flooded the dim room. "What the hell are you doing?" His gruff voice boomed.

A chill ran down Jennet's spine, but that didn't stop her from swooping all the cash from the pile and placing it in her purse. After all, on her next turn, she would have won anyway.

His heavy footsteps pounded toward the rope. "The kid isn't even tied up. And what, you decided it would be fun to play Uno with her?!" He ripped the cards from Ronan's hand, throwing them to the concrete floor.

"I will deal with you later," the boss said, pointing to Rocco, who gulped in reply. He grabbed Jennet's arm, pulling her up from the box, making it hit the ground. The boys flinched from the loud sound.

"Not so hard," she said through clenched teeth as he pulled her towards a separate room. He slammed her into a chair placed around a wooden table, almost sending it to the floor too. Across from her, he plopped down, crossing his arms.

"I have something you want, and you have something I want too. Let's make this easy shall we? Where is your father's study located? What has he found?"

"What makes you think that I know anything about my Dad's work?" Jennet asked.

"I asked you a question!" the boss shouted.

"I asked you a question," Jennet quipped.

The Boss huffed, leaning in to give her a monstrous stare. "Your Dad takes you everywhere. It's impossible for you not to know. You're daddy's whittle pwincess, of course he'd tell you everything! Now where is it?"

Jennet mimicked him by crossing her arms. She gave him an eye roll before replying, "What do you have that I want?"

"Freedom."

Her eyes squinted from the sun peeking in through the broken window behind him. "You want me to destroy everything my dad has built to leave this place?" She leaned in to get her point across, "You're going to have to try harder than that, sweetheart."

"Do you not understand how much danger you are in?"

"Your minions forgot to bring anything to tie me up, and invited me to a game of uno where I won all their cash. You tell me: how much danger am I in?" She countered.

The boss's glare was shifted to the door. Once this is all over, he would have their heads for this.

He slammed his fist on the table, nearly breaking it, peering into her unwavering eyes he knew she was right. "You may not break, but he will."

"My Dad's the one who taught me everything I know. We're carbon copies. If I'm as steadfast as iron, he's as steadfast as steel. So don't bet on him falling at your feet and crying to get me back. Otherwise, you'll be a loser, just like those idiots out there"

Fire pooled in the Boss' eyes. He pushed his chair back in a fit of rage, letting it crash to the floor and stormed from the room. "Keep an eye on her," he commanded, leaving the warehouse.

Outside, when he was sure that he was out of earshot, he pulled out his phone, placing it to his ear. "Mr. Imego, if you ever want to see your daughter again you will tell me the secrets to your new VR game." He was met by silence, meaning that once again the father didn't pick up the phone. Who was too busy for their own kid?

Mr. Imego's lack of concern only fueled the Boss' rage. He acted like he was in control, like he was so high and mighty, more powerful than anyone else. Well, the Boss was going to put an end to Mr. Imego's ego. He was going to bring down the Imego family and their entire Dignero business. He would replace their company as the biggest, most lucrative video game monopoly ever known to mankind. Oh yes! The Boss would show them.

Sure it may sound strange to kidnap a girl for a video game. But the boss knew that Mr. Imego was just as evil as he was. He probably deserved it. Conspiracies floated through the news, but everyone just brushed them away. Everyone except from him.

There was something that was going on behind closed doors, something inhumane. And the boss either wanted to be a part of the money making, or he wanted to be the one to shut down the world's largest game developer. It was up to Imego to decide which one it will be.
