An Interview with glassEyed
PP - Congratulations glassEyed on winning our March 2017 contest and thank you for agreeing to speak with us.
PP - Would you tell us a little about yourself?
glassEyed -
First of all, thank you so much for this. It's truly a huge honour!!
Well, I'm a 17 year old Slytherin (or would've been one anyway had the Acceptance letter not gotten lost in the mail) who has spent so much her time in fantasy worlds that now she has no idea how to get out (who wants to anyway?) Daydreaming is what I do best - fortunately or unfortunately. I also like to consider myself an actor, an orator and a moderately bad artist.
I'm also a huge math lover, who quotes movie dialogs everywhere - even while writing answers for a test!
PP - How long have you been on Wattpad?
glassEyed -
I've been on Wattpad for over three years now. I started out with a different account - where I had dedicated my life to the welfare of the art of fanfiction writing, and later got immersed in almost all the other genres.
PP - What do you enjoy most about the PoetsPub?
glassEyed -
"No judgement, no egos... just support and inspiration. No borders, no color, no religion, no language barrier. Just a shared love of Poetry."
I guess that says it all!
But on a more 'original' note, I shall forever be indebted to the Pub because the first ever poem I wrote was for a competition on PoetsPub. ... And since then, there has been no looking back! Add in all the support, love and encouragement given by the Pubbers... it really helped discover my poetic self!
PP - How long have you been writing poetry?
glassEyed -
I'm a newcomer to this world of poetry, and as I said I wrote my first poem for the July 2016 competition held here at PoetsPub - so that was eight months ago!
A special mention needs to be given to @Rage_Warrior for introducing me to the Pub, and also for encouraging me those innumerable times when I thought my poems were utter crap.
PP - Where do you find inspiration for your poetry?
glassEyed -
I've always been more of a storyteller, and I use poems to tell stories.
I draw my inspiration from everything I see and feel around me - the non-living objects scream for my attention, humans make my mind go crazy (because I'm oh so fascinated by them!) and then there's mother nature of course - the love of my life!
PP - Is poetry your main genre or do you write other things? If so what else do you enjoy writing?
glassEyed -
I guess I love to write everything (though what I'm good at is another matter entirely!), other than horrors and thrillers (they make me cower under my blanket, so let's not talk about them!)
Fantasy is my main genre I guess, and as I said, I also love writing fan fiction and short stories. I also have this incredible love for writing dairies/journals!!
And I'm not particularly sure why, but I'm horribly bad at writing essays (so much for using the talent to get good grades!)
PP - What advice would you give to poets who are just starting out?
glassEyed -
I am one of those poets who is just starting out myself, so I'm really not experienced enough to give advice.
But all I'd like to say is that, don't think your writing is bad (don't think its the best in the whole wide world either ) But what I mean is, don't get discouraged...don't lose heart and just keep writing, because the feeling of seeing the words take the form of a painting is simply the best feeling ever.
PP - Do you have a favorite author on Wattpad? What about outside of Wattpad?
glassEyed -
Over the three years I've come across so many amazing authors here on Wattpad, if I have to mention their names it would take over a hundred pages; and mentioning just a few and adding etc would simply be doing them injustice.
Outside Wattpad, again it's a huge list. But my absolute favourites would be JK Rowling, Rick Riordan, Mark Lawrence, Robert Frost, Shel Silverstein and Lewis Carroll.
PP - You are throwing a dinner party and you can invite any 10 authors, living, dead or fictional. Who do you invite?
glassEyed -
Isn't this simply the best question ever!! I spent an entire day make preparations - starting from what food to serve, to deciding the color of the curtains! *facepalm*
There will definitely be JK Rowling and Rick Riordan (it's THE dream of every Potterhead and PJO fan afterall! )
And there'll be John Keats, Rabindranath Tagore, Robert Frost, Lewis Carroll and HG Wells!!
And finally, there'll be Newt Scamander, Bilbo Baggins and Christopher Paolini - having a pretty intense discussion about dragons!!
PP - Thank you so much for speaking with us. Is there anything else you would like to add?
glassEyed -
Other than saying a huge thank you to PoetsPub and every Pubber here, I'd like to add...
*gets up on the stool and starts shouting; frantically waving to get everyone's attention*
Save our Planet fellow Earthlings!! We do NOT have backup planet to go to!! So please, let's all do our bits...
AND
support the LGBT community, fellow humans. Since when did love started to discriminate, since when did love started teaching us to hate? It's time we stood by our brothers and sisters in their fight for their identity, for their freedom to LOVE!
*gets down from the stool*
Thank you! :)
PP - Thank you again! It has been wonderful getting to know you better. We look forward to seeing you around the Pub and good luck in the Pubber of the Year contest.
