CHAPTER ONE: THE SECRET OF THE BOOK OF BAYBAYLAN
Let's go back in time. In the southern part of the Philippines, Year 1521 where the tradition of babaylans, or spiritual leaders, existed in the Philippines even before the arrival of the Spaniards. The Babaylan played an important role in pre-colonial Filipino society, acting as healers, spiritual guides, and community leaders.
"Dolores, Apo Liwayway has called you, and it seems she has something important to tell you." Dolores's friend Amparo said to her.
"Do you know why did she call me?" Dolores asked while she was doing her laundry at the stream.
"I don't know, but from what I heard from the leader of the babaylan this is about the foreign invaders and the book," Amparo said.
"Okay, let's go. But you have to help me to clean these clothes, okay?" Dolores said.
"Do I have a choice," Amparo said and they left together and went to the hut of the so-called leader of the babaylan. When they arrived at the hut of the leader of the Babaylan. They saw the old woman had just finished reciting a prayer.
"Apo Liwayway, Dolores is with me right now," Amparo said. Immediately the old woman looked at the two young women and smiled before she said something to the two maidens.
"My favorite Alabays are here. Hurry up as I have to discuss something about the book and the foreign invaders." Apo Liwayway said while Amparo and Dolores look each other when they heard those words from Apo Liwayway.
"May I know what is this all about, Apo Liwayway?" Dolores asked the old woman. And the old woman asked them to get inside. And when they sat down, Apo liwayway start explaining why she call the two maidens. While she took something from her chest that made of wood and they saw that the old woman was already holding a book.
"Was that the book of the Babaylans?" Dolores asked. The old woman smiled before answering her question.
"You're right, this is the book of the Babaylans. I want the two of you to take care of this book. And not only that, on the next generation coming from your seeds. I want them to take good care of this important book, as this contains secret knowledge from our ancestors." Apo Liwayway said and the two women looked at each other.
"Why did you choose us?" Amparo asks.
"Amparo was right, why us Apo Liwayway?" Dolores asks.
"It's simple because the one who will end the king of darkness will come from your lineage." Apo Liwayway said and they saw a serious facial expression to the old woman.
"The spirits agreed with my suggestion that you guys take care of it after my death." Apo Liwayway said.
"Apo~" Amparo said as she didn't want to hear that from the old woman.
"Don't talk like that Apo Liwayway. You are too healthy, Dont worry Later I will get some fresh vegetables from my garden," Dolores said sadly. But Apo Liwayway just smiled and handed the book to the two girls.
"Soon, you will discover the secret of that book and sooner you will find four things that belong to the Diwata who once lived in our world. And when you find them, you need to put them in a safe place. Where the king of darkness cannot see and use for its interest." Apo Liwayway said.
"Regarding the foreign invaders, they have arrived in a town near us, what we should do?" Amparo asked.
"We cannot stop what will happen in the future, we can do nothing but hope that the spirits will guide us." The old babaylan replied while taking a cup of coffee.
A few years after the death of Apo Liwayway, they both became leaders in their town.
Amparo, was known as one of the best in the field of treating diseases. She is the one whom sick and wounded warriors run to. While Dolores was called the Warrior Babaylan, because she was one of the leaders in the fight against the Spaniards who invade the country. She also demonstrated a unique power where she could command animals and plants that made her tribesmen safe against the invaders.
"Dolores, I received news that the Spaniards had conquered Maynilad. and I want you to come with us to support the Filipino warriors." The messenger said who dressed like the Spaniards invaders.
"What?" Dolores said as she was shocked at what she heard from their spy and messenger.
"That is too far from our land," Amparo said.
"You're right Apo Amparo, but they need our help." The messenger said.
"If you will leave, what will happen to our town? The town needs you." Amparo said.
"They have you, do you remember Apo Liwayway selected us? I know you can be a good leader." Dolores said.
"Dolores, how I can protect this town? I am not a warrior just like you." Amparo said.
"Don't underestimate your abilities, I know you are strong. Just believe in yourself." Dolores said.
"If your decision is final, and I can stop you, you have to bring this book with you," Amparo said while she gave Dolores the book of Babaylan. But Dolores refused to get the book and she said.
"You will need this against the evil entities, it's not just the foreign invaders who are our enemies, but also the disciples of darkness." Dolores said.
Amparo could do nothing but allow her friend to leave their town. But before Dolores left, she left a protection spell in their place so that outsiders would not see it, especially those with bad intentions. And this is also the place where the mansion of Kaito used to hide. When Kaito reached the selvage forest he felt a stranger power who was protecting the place.
Several years passed, and Amparo and Dolores never met. Even though they were far from each other, their grandchildren were reunited by fate, Calista and Divina.
Calista was a mestiza who ended up in Divina's place with her uncle Damian. After her mom and father died.
Year 1898, where the Spanish occupation of the Philippines ended with the help of American and Filipino soldiers who bravely sacrificed their lives for our freedom. There are still other places in the Philippines whose leaders are the datus or the babaylans.
"Good morning, how are you? I'm Divina by the way. My father said you're from Manila?" Divina introduced herself to the young mestiza Calista.
"Buenos días a ti también Divina, soy Calista. (Good morning to you too, Divina, I'm Calista...) " Calista introduced herself to the young Divina. The two became friends and entered together as alabays where they would learn the tasks of a babaylan.
"Are you ready tomorrow for our first test as young babaylans?" Divina asked.
"I'm a bit nervous Divina, especially since this is our first test and we will be talking to the spirits. My uncle said that this is the natural ability of a babaylans like you. I don't think I'll pass. I don't have a babaylan blood like you." Calista said sadly to her friend. Divina held her hand and the girl said.
"What are you talking about? Talking to spirits is not just a job for us babaylans. We all have that ability because we are all created by one higher being. My grandmother said before she died, she said, all creatures are connected, animals, plants, spirits, and humans. Just focus and just trust yourself." Divina said and handed Calista a ripe mango which they ate together and they laughed happily on top of the tree.
Until the day came when Calista and Divina had their first test. Divina was the first one to try the test and according to the old babaylan in their village, Divina was able to enter the world of the Spirits and spoke to her guide.
"Well done, Divina, you are truly Amparo's granddaughter." The old babaylan said.
"Thank you, Apo Aurelia," Divina said. And the other young babaylans followed after Divina but it seems the old babaylan had only one response as the Apo Aurelia greeted them as they all passed the test. Calista felt pressured by what she saw as the other kids were good.
"I think I can't do it," Calista said.
"I thought you wanted to be a babaylan like Apo Fina" Divina said as she saw her friend Calista feeling pressured because other young babaylan were successful in their first test.
"But~," Calista said but her friend gave her a word of confidence.
"You are the next Calista, I know you can do it." Divina said. And Calista stepped closer to Apo Aurelia.
"You may start now, young mestiza!" Apo Aurelia said. And Calista sat down before she closes her eyes, Calista took a deep breath and look at her friend Divina while her friend gives her a smile while giving her a thumbs up sign.
Meanwhile, in Divina's house, the babaylan's book suddenly lit up and Divina's mother noticed it. And slowly she opened the pages and she read the word that was written on the pages.
"The second blood that takes care of me has returned." The woman read the writings on the page.
Going back, Calista suddenly lost consciousness and got convulsions. While Divina was about to help her friend. But the old babaylan stopped her and said.
"Don't touch her Divina," The old babaylan warns her.
"But why? Calista is not doing well. We have to help her." Divina said.
"You're Apo Aurelia was right, Divina. Stay on your seat." Apo Fina added.
"She's fine, this is amazing. The young mestiza without a babaylan blood was allowed by the spirits to talk to them and enter their world. " Said the old babaylan. While Apo Fina approach Apo Aurelia.
"You're wrong Aurelia. Look at the mark on her forehead. This is a symbol of where this young mestiza came from a very powerful babaylan. Can't you see it? " Said by Apo Fina.
"You're right, Fina. The young mestiza has babaylan blood. Why didn't I notice it right away? " Apo Aurelia said. Calista suddenly stopped convulsing and when she opened her eyes, everyone was surprised because Calista was already holding the book of babaylans which was currently being taken care of by Divina's clan.
"Aurelia, do you still remember the story of Apo Amparo about her friend Apo Dolores." Apo Fina said.
"Yes, because they are the two who are taking care of the book of Babaylans." Apo Aurelia said.
"Couldn't the young mestiza come from Apo Dolores' clan?" Apo Fina said.
"Our questions can only be answered when the young mestiza finds the former location of our town. and we will separate Divina and Calista from the other young babaylans. and I want you to take care of these two young babaylan." Apo Aurelia said and Apo Fina nod her head as he agreed on Apo Aurelia said. While Divina approaches her friend, Calista and she explains to Calista the book that her friend was holding was coming from her great-grandmother. Apo Amparo.
"Do you remember the book of Babaylan? This is it. It's amazing because the book likes you too." Divina said to her friend while Calista was surprised by what she saw and the book slowly open on its pages.
Apo Aurelia and Apo Fina separated Divina and Calista from the other Babaylan children.
The next day, Apo Fina, Divina, and Calista went to the forest.
"What are we doing here, Apo Fina?" Divina asked. Apo Fina smiled before respond.
"This is where we will conduct your last test." Apo Fina said. But the two friends just looked at each other because of what they heard. Calista asked first.
"Last test? How is that? We haven't done the second test yet. And where are our fellow students?" Calista asked her teacher.
"You are special and we are here in the forest because we want you to find our town." Apo Fina said. The two children looked at each other again in surprise at what the old Babaylan said.
The old woman invited them to sit on two large rocks surrounded by Hibiscus flowers.
"I want you to focus on your search, you won't just find that place by your eyes, because the place has a strong barrier that is only for those who deserve it with pure intention and if the place allows you to see them." Apo Fina said.
"Let's start Calista," Divina said and Calista nodded in agreement. They held hands before they closed their eyes. and a strong energy suddenly came out of the two girls and from behind Apo Fina the village suddenly revealed to the two young Babaylan. The place was still guarded by the natives who agreed to be the guardians of the sacred village and there were also a few babaylans who lived there to strengthen their connection with the world of spirits.
"It's good that we're here in Liwayway Village, it was named after the former first Babaylan who kept the book of Babaylan." Apo Fina said while the children were amazed by what they saw, especially for those young babaylans who successfully passed the exam.
"Why are we here?" Calista asked.
"You are really smart, Mestiza. Did you know your ancestors have a connection to this place," Apo Fina explains while Calista and Divina their eyes fall on a hut where Apo Fina confirms that this was the hut of Amparo and Dolores. Calista and Divina slowly approached that hut and their eyes fell on the two weapons hanging outside the house of the former babaylans.
"Those are Amparo and Dolores's weapons," Apo Fina said and one by one she pointed the two weapons at the two children.
"This is Amparo's weapon, the dragon's spear, and next to it was a weapon called the drops of rain whip, which was given to them by their friend from China. Bai Chen." Apo Fina said. Apo Fina did not realize that Calista and Divina had already taken the weapons. Apo Fina was surprised and she proved more that the mestiza Calista came from Dolores' blood.
Ten years later, the friendship of Divina and Calista grew stronger and they became one of the best babaylans in their town, just like their ancestors Dolores and Amparo, they were inseparable especially when they were gathering of medicinal herbs in the Selvage Forest.
Divina was known for being good at healing and talking to creatures from the spirit world, while her friend, Calista was good at casting spells on the book of Babaylan when it came to protecting their town from other supernatural creatures. Calista and Divina are also good at using the weapons that they inherit from their ancestors. The dragon's spear and the drops of rain whip. On the other hand, like other heroes, there is also one villager who doesn't like them, and that is Inocencia. She was coming from the strongest babaylan in another village who decided to be part of the tribe where Calista and Divina belong.
"Did you hear the story of Aling Sisa about the attack of the Aswangs in the other village?" A woman said while the other who heard the news were terrified by what they heard but at that time, Inocencia passed by and overheard the conversation of a group of mothers talking about the attack of strange creatures. Inocencia, who was on her way to Datu Isagani at that time, immediately joined in their conversation.
"Did I hear right? The Aswangs attacked the other village?" Inocencia asked.
"Yes, you are right Inocencia, so we should be prepared here in our village especially, there are pregnant women in our town," the woman said while her hands were on her waist showing to everyone her facial expression that she was completely terrified.
"After we got our land from those foreign invaders and now, we are facing those creature, Datu Isagani must know this." Inocencia said.
"Much better if the Datu knows about this, especially this is for the safety of our fellow villager," The woman said.
"Don't worry, I will immediately go to the Datu Isagani to inform him about this, and you guys should stop wandering in the middle of the night, it's too dangerous" said Inocencia as she also warned them. While Divina and Calista saw the woman rushing to Datu Isagani's Torogan.
"Where is Inocencia going?" Divina asked and the woman immediately answered Divina.
"Inocencia is going to the datu's Torogan to inform him about the attack of the aswangs in the neighboring village. And we are worried because we have pregnant fellow villagers right now and they might be attacked by the aswangs If we don't do anything. We must do something." The woman said.
"Torogan and Aswang?" Calista said.
"Yes, Torogan was the Datu's house and Aswang ~ [ She stops first and thinks about the news they've heard from the forest earlier] and I have heard the news about that too," Divina said.
"Apo Fina told me about the Aswangs but I thought they disappeared from our place? And now they are here for what? " Calista added.
"That's the reason that we should know, So Calista come with me as we will ~" Divina didn't finish on what she was saying when a car suddenly stopped in front of them and from the car, two mixed-race men about their age and got out from the car.
Divina and Calista immediately stared at the two men and the two men greeted them.
"Buenos días, este es el pueblo de Liwayway? (Good day, is this the Barrio Liwayway) " A man asked them and Calista immediately answered as she was also fluent in Spanish.
"Sí, esta es la pueblo que estás buscando. Y tú quién eres? (Yes, this is the town you're looking for. And who are you?) " Calista asked.
"Señorita, yo soy Lucas y él es mi primo Manuel" Lucas said as he also introduces his cousin Manuel.
"What did he say?" Divina asks her friend Calista.
"He said his name is Lucas and that guy was his cousin, Manuel," Calista explains.
Meanwhile, Lucas reprimanded his cousin and ordered him to shake hands with Divina and Calista.
"Estreche la mano de las hermosas damas que están frente a nosotros." Lucas said and that's what Manuel did where he extended his hand to Divina while he was staring at her face and Divina gets blush on what the young man did. While Calista and Lucas look at each other.
Calista and Lucas easily became friends as did Divina and Manuel. Until one night when the Aswang attacked their village.
"The children and pregnant women are already in the Selvage Forest, but it's strange because the Aswang are so aggressive, I feel something is wrong," Calista said.
"Me too, but where is Inocencia she is supposed to be here, as she was part of the defense team," Divina asked.
"You know that girl, she suddenly disappears when the Aswang is here, maybe she's afraid and scared, " Calista said. The two girls were surprised when they saw Manuel and Lucas with weapons drawn.
"Where did you get those weapons?" Divina asked.
"Ah, this?" Manuel said, pointing to the weapon he and Lucas were holding.
"This is the holy weapon and they have a name, Liksi, and Talas," Manuel said while Divina and Calista were surprised by the agility of the two young men fighting the Aswang. Calista even saw that the shape of Lucas' sword had changed and it had become an Arrow with white bow. While, Divina saw that the sword that Manuel was holding had changed shape and it had become a gun like the ones used by American soldiers.
"Divina, we need to help them," Calista said and she took out her whip and then she waved it above her head, a loud thunder suddenly rumbled. Divina took off her necklace and from her hand it turned into a spear. At the same time, lightning struck the tip of the spear Divina was holding.
A bloody battle ensued and it was surprising because after they defeated the aswangs, they suddenly stood up and the wounds they had made were healed, So Calista and Divina made the other warriors retreat and sent them to Datu Isagani's house.
"But Ba-i, how about you and Ba-i Calista?" The warrior said.
"We'll take care of these aswangs, you have to advise them to retreat, now!!" Divina shouted.
"You guys are safe in Datu Isagani's house, bring the Datu with you and make sure that he is safe," Calista added,
"But~," The soldier said,
"There's no time, Soldier and we can feel that there is a strange magic that helps these creatures to heal from our attacks, leave now and save the datu." Calista said. And the soldier hurriedly retreated with others.
"Calista is right, there is something strange about these monsters," Manuel said
"We will find out," Calista said and she closed her eyes and put her palms together.
"Spirit of nature, I beg you, help us defeat these monsters and show us the source of their strange strength," Calista said. And from the ground, Calista stepped on, plants suddenly sprouted and slowly spread around.
"The spirit of nature has heard Calista's request, surely she will the find source of this magic, this is not normal as we already face an aswang before and using our weapon they immediately turned into ashes but now it's not." Divina said and she took the book in her small bag.
"What are you going to do with that?" Manuel asked.
"I will ask for help from the book," Divina said but it was surprising because she couldn't open it, and it didn't follow her orders.
"Why can't I open the pages of the book?" Divina asked. Until Calista spoke.
"Because that's not the book you're protecting, I've already found the source of their strength," Calista said.
"What do you mean Calista?" Divina asked.
"Inocencia is holding the book and she's the one who gives strength to the aswangs," Calista said and from behind Calista a large vine emerged from the ground and quickly went behind the trees and immediately wrapped itself around Inocencia's body.
"Inocencia, why?" Divina asked and with a wave of Inocencia's hand, the vines suddenly shredded.
"Thank you for your book, Divina, and I can strengthen my fellow Aswangs and concur this place," Inocencia said.
"Why are you doing this to our fellow villagers, they haven't done anything bad to you." Calista said.
"Really? coming from a foreigner like you? You don't know anything Calista so you don't have the right to say that." Inocencia said.
"They killed my parents even though they are good to these villagers. " Inocencia said. Calista, and Divina listens to her.
"They killed my parents when they knew that we are Aswangs, and now this is the time for my revenge. And get justice for my parents." Inocencia said and suddenly small creatures appeared behind Inocencia. A creature that looked like a Goat or Kangaroo with big ears and a tail like a whip.
"Sigbins?" Divina said.
"You took my pets, and what did you do to my pets, did you feed them with corpses?" Lucas asked.
"They're your pets Lucas?" Divina asked.
"Yes, they don't hurt people, unlike the other creatures and that's why we came here to your town because I feel their presence." Lucas said.
"I think she fed them with corpses, they wouldn't look like that if not," Manuel said.
"You'll pay for this, you are creating chaos," Lucas said
"That's what I want, chaos in this place," Inocencia said and she laughed. And Lucas's appearance slowly changed and they saw that Lucas' ears suddenly became pointed and he was gradually developing fangs.
"Lucas~" Calista said.
"Manuel, stop your cousin he might be harm as Inocencia too powerful right now, especially she has the book of the babaylan." Divina said.
"Lucas knows what he's doing, he is one of the strongest Bellator of the White Dove organization. We are a Bellator." Manuel said.
"Bellator?" Divina said with surprise. But when they looked at Lucas, Calista had already hugged the young man even though he was in the form of a Sigbin.
"Lucas Please, you can't beat her. Por Favor!" Calista said, Lucas stared at the woman and slowly returned to his human form.
"What is happening to me? Why did I return to my human form?" Lucas asked.
"Do you remember little Esther's warning? You will change by someone and looks like Calista was the one who she was referring to," Manuel said. While they were in the middle of talking, Inocencia suddenly unleashed a curse and Calista saw it heading towards Lucas but quickly she used herself as a shield for that curse.
"Calista, NO!" Divina shouted when she saw her friend hit by the curse. Inocencia quickly ordered her Sigbin and Aswang disciples to invade the Datu's house.
"Manuel and Lucas, save the innocents, I'll take care of Inocencia." Divina said and at that time, heavy rain suddenly poured down while Lucas handed over the dying Calista.
"Lucas, let's go," Manuel said to his cousin and they quickly went to the Datu's house where the house was surrounded by those creatures.
"You will pay for what you did," Divina said.
"I am not scared, as long as I have the book of Babaylan, you folks are useless." Inocencia said.
"Really, well see!" Divina said and she grab Calista's whip and swung it around while Inocencia backed away when she saw the strange anger on Divina's face.
"A curse of death, huh?" Divina said and a strange light aura covered the entire body of Divina while Calista saw this and she order the book to come to her.
"Book of Babaylan, I order you to come to me, as your protector and guardian leave that woman." Divina said and the book flew back towards Divina. And Inocencia trembled in fear when she saw a white figure behind Divina.
"Amparo?" Calista said when she saw Amparo's spirit behind Divina before she closed her eyes and lost her breath for the last time. While Divina immediately opened the book and muttered words.
"No, stop that," Inocencia said while she couldn't move from where she was standing, and the vines that bound to her body before and suddenly it moved again and wrapped around her body.
"You will see your ancestor in hell, good bye!" Divina said and she uses the whipped of Calista to hold the woman from moving and the spear that she was holding she use and stab it on Inocencia.
"The soul of a sinner will be sent to hell," Divina said and her spear suddenly changed its appearance. She saw it change into a dagger. Divina back to her senses when she saw Inocencia's body fall to the ground.
"Inocencia? Calista?" She said and she was terrified when she saw her hands were full of blood while holding a dagger. While Inocencia her aswang's followers suddenly retreat. And she immediately approaches her friend Calista and she held her friend's hand the same with Lucas after they left the house of datu.
"You shouldn't be like this; this is my fault as I didn't get serious about being the guardian of the book. wait!" Inocencia said and she immediately opened the pages of the book.
"Divina, please stop," Manuel said as he saw that Divina looked insane.
"Here it is, the spell of Immortality," Divina said and she immediately read the spell on the book while her left hands were on her friend's hands. While she was casting the spells a strange black smoke left from Inocencia's body.
"What is she doing?" Lucas asks.
"She was using the immortality spell so that she could revive her friend. But this is ~" Manuel didn't finish on what he said when they saw Calista suddenly opens her eyes and she wonder why her friend Divina cried and, in a few minutes, Datu Isagani arrive with a new leader of the Babaylan.
"Apo Ligaya," Divina said while her voice was shaking when she saw the leader of the Babaylan.
Apo Ligaya was the sister of Apo Fina and she knew everything about these two powerful women.
"What happen?" Datu Isagani asks. But he didn't hear any response from Calista and Divina. Lucas would say something but Manuel stops him and he said.
"Let them explain on what really happen," and then Lucas, step backward when he hears that to his cousin. The silent stops when Divina start to explain to the Datu Isagani and Apo Ligaya.
"Datu Isagani, [while her voice was shaking and she took a deep breath before she said the name of] Apo Ligaya," Divina said while her tears started to fall.
"I killed Inocencia, [took a deep breath and continued talking] she was the one who did all this and she killed my sister, Calista but I ~" Divina didn't finish what she was trying to say when Calista interrupted her.
"I thought I died because of Inocencia but the spirits allow me to live again," Calista said as she covered the truth about what Divina did. Meanwhile, Apo Ligaya saw the spear of Apo Amparo change its form.
"Hand me the dagger," said by Apo Ligaya and Divina slowly handed the dagger to the old Babaylan. and the old babaylan sighed before speaking.
"In that case, Divina didn't violate any law in this land and what she did was self-defense when she killed Inocencia, especially when she saw Calista was being killed by Inocencia." Apo Ligaya said.
"Go back to your homes, and tomorrow morning we will work together to repair the huts that were damaged due to the attack of the aswangs." Datu Isagani said and the villagers back to their houses.
"How about you Ligaya?" Datu Isagani asks.
"Let me talk to them," The old woman said and Datu Isagani left. When they saw the Datu left, Apo Ligaya spoke to Calista and Divina and showing to her face the disappointment of what they did.
"I feel bad because of guys did... I did not expect that you guys would tell lies to everyone, and why did you cover her? [as she pertains to Calista] you know that we are strict about using immortality magic. You didn't know the effect of that magic it has a negative effect on us, babaylans." Apo Ligaya said.
"I am sorry, Apo Ligaya," Calista said.
"Why Calista? [took a deep breath] And why Divina? Did my sister and I missed to remind you guys the rules of using the book of Babaylan?" Apo Ligaya said showing the disappointment on her face on what the two babaylan did. But Calista and Divina remained silent while they bowed their heads.
"Apo Amparo's spear was stained with the blood of an innocent," Apo Ligaya said.
"What do you mean, Apo Ligaya?" Lucas asked.
"We have an invisible enemy and he is a Dugan (Spirit) who moves from body to another body to carry out the final deluge. I can feel that Inocencia already lost control of that entity. She consults this to me before she changes her attitude and I am trying to ask the spirit to help me with this poor girl." Apo Ligaya said.
"But she has the blood of an Aswang," Divina said.
"I know, Inocencia was different, she wanted me to remove the curse of being an Aswang that's why she is here," Apo Ligaya said.
"She said something to me Apo Ligaya, that our fellow Villagers killed her kind?" Lucas said.
"Yes, and looks like I know now why she loses her control, the entity uses her anger." Apo Ligaya said and looked at Inocencia's corpse.
"Are you going to say this to Datu Isagani?" Divina said her voice was shaking.
"No, but you have to say it soon to the Datu, as I don't want you to be used by our enemy, the same as what happened to Inocencia, I also still don't know who our enemy is, but the spirits told me that this has a higher rank than a Diwata and I know you can feel it, right Manuel or should I say Mapulon?" Apo Ligaya said while looking at Manuel. Lucas and the two women were confused about what they heard from the old babaylan.
"Mapulon?" Divina said while Lucas and Calista were also looking at him.
"Cousin?" Lucas asks.
"Apo Ligaya is right, I am Mapulon, the god of seasons and good harvests and I used your cousin's vessel as I was being tasked by Bathala to investigate and to know the creature who did all of this chaos, and before Inocencia lost her last breath, the creature says its name to me," Manuel said.
"Who?" Apo Ligaya asked.
"Saesbyeol," Manuel said and Apo Ligaya was horrified by what she heard.
"Why, Apo Ligaya?" Lucas asked.
"That's the name that the spirits told me, but this dagger must be hidden from that creature. I have a plan as I can ask for help from a friend who is a well-known shaman in Mongolia. My sister told me what to do if the prophecy happens and she was right, Divina killed an innocent and the spear of Amparo was cursed," Apo Ligaya said while she wrapped the dagger in a white cloth.
"Can you help me with this matter, Manuel?" Apo Ligaya said to Manuel. and the man nodded and immediately Manuel gave a curse to the dagger.
"As soon as an evil creature gets the dagger and will use this for evil. My one and only son can destroy this dagger and free the creature from its curse." Manuel said and Calista and Lucas were surprised by what they heard. And they looked at Divina together.
"Do you sleep with Manuel?" Calista asked Divina.
"No, I don't. God knows that, " Divina replied. And suddenly Manuel held Divina's hand and the young man's hands were shining while the strong wind was blowing all around.
"My dear, you will give birth to our child and our child will be one of the seven destined to end the coming deluge," Manuel said and he hugged Divina tightly.
