Chapter 06
Jenna jumped out of her skin, looking around just to see Sirius Black at the end of the hall, his wand still raised.
He hadn't lowered his wand yet that they heard urgent footsteps nearing them. Turning around, they saw Professor Slughorn, their potions' master.
Professor Slughorn gave a horrid look at the two Slytherins who were almost knocked out and then gazed back at Jenna and Sirius with widened eyes.
"That would be twenty points from Gryffindor!" He said firmly, still in shock. "Now go to Professor McGonagall's office immediately, both of you! I'm sure she'll see to get you punished for this as I take these boys to Madam Pomfrey!"
"No, Professor, it wasn't her fault–" Sirius tried to explain but Professor Slughorn had already gone to help Mulciber and Avery up, snapping at them, "Off you go!"
Huffing, Jenna paced out of the chamber, Sirius following her behind, trying to catch up with her.
"I could've handled them," Jenna mumbled, not looking at Sirius as she walked quickly across the hall.
"Jenna, they were going to curse you–"
"–I don't want anybody to fight my battles for me." She cut him off.
"Oh, thank you Sirius for saving my arse." Sirius imitated a lofty voice, but then continued in his own voice, "It's alright, Jenny. Those two idiots deserved it. Oh, but you're my hero! Oh, stop it, Jenny, you're flattering me too much!"
Jenna rolled her eyes at that remark and decided to ignore it, saying, "What were you doing down there, anyway?"
"I came after you," said Sirius.
"Why?" Jenna raised a questioning brow at him.
"Well, when you left you said you were 'getting away from me'," Sirius started explaining, "so I thought I'd come after you to tease you a little more or jump out from behind a wall to scare you or something. But then I heard those mother–" Jenna gave him a warning look, "–truckers."
"You shouldn't have got yourself in trouble for me." she said more calmly.
"Don't say that," Sirius shook his hand, "if anything, those bastards got us into this. It was their fault. Surely McGonagall would see into this."
But she didn't.
It was a long way from the dungeons to Professor McGonagall's office, and so by the time Sirius and Jenna got there, McGonagall had already received an owl from Slughorn.
Apparently, Mulciber and Avery's point of view of the story was very different than theirs. And because of Sirius's and Jenna's reputation in trouble-making, nothing they said could convince McGonagall.
"You will receive your detention tomorrow after dinner in the trophy room. Both of you!" McGonagall said sternly, a look of disappointment on her face.
"Her too? But she didn't–!" Sirius tried to say, but McGonagall broke him off.
"Quiet, Mr. Black!" She barked.

"But — but that's completely unfair!" Lily complained as she and Jenna were sitting in the Gryffindor common room. "At least Sirius was a help, wasn't he?"
"I could've handled it myself." Jenna folded her arms, looking slightly annoyed.
"Oh, Jenna, don't tell me you're still mad at him!" Lily sighed. "I know Black can be a pain just like Potter sometimes – again, no offense – but it's been four years! You have to get over it!"
"I'm not still mad at him for that. It was a long time ago." Jenna's voice trailed off, obviously lying.
But just then, a high pitched scream was heard from the girls' dormitory. Jenna and Lily abruptly turned their heads around to look over at the staircase, watching Alice run down in a hurry, looking scared.
"What's wrong?" Lily asked Alice as they watched her panting.
"I – I accidentally ate Marlene's sweets," she explained, looking panicked. "I swear I thought they were sent for me! They were on my bed! But I didn't care to look at the note!"
By that, Marlene came into sight, coming down the staircase furiously.
"How long do you think I have to live?" Alice asked, genuinely worried.
"Ten," Marlene snarled, getting closer.
"Ten what?" Alice asked.
"Nine,"
"Uh oh," Alice swallowed, and before Marlene could count eight, she had run out of the common room, Marlene running after her.
Jenna chuckled but Lily rolled her eyes. "When are you people going to act your age, I'll never know."
It didn't take more than a few minutes that the door to the common room opened up again, the four noisy boys walking in, laughing at God knows what.
Spotting Jenna from afar, Sirius let out a happy shriek, "JENNY!" and started to waltz towards her.
When he reached her, Sirius bowed dramatically, holding his hand out for her to take. "Ready for our date, my lady?"
Rolling her eyes, Jenna stood off the armchair and turned to Lily. "I'll see you later," and by that, she exited the room, Sirius following after her with a grin.
James then turned to Lily. "How about you and I go on a date, too, Evans?" He winked, but Lily closed her book and walked towards her dormitory.
James looked confused at Remus and Peter. "What's with girls and leaving without an answer?"
"Maybe next time, Prongs." Peter sniggered, patting him on the back.

"Follow me," Filch snarled at Jenna and Sirius and so they followed him towards the trophy room.
When they reached the room, Filch gave them a bunch of stuff to scrub the floor with and then left them with a nasty smirk on his face.
"On our hands and knees, then," Sirius said with a grin, but when he caught Jenna glaring at him, he quickly said, "oh, c'mon, Jenny. Just a little joke. No need to get all hot and bothered."
"Oh, God." Jenna groaned, sitting on the ground in order to start scrubbing the floor.
"No need to call me God, Jenny." Sirius shook his hand humbly. "I mean, I know I saved your life, but that's just taking it too far."
If looks could kill, Sirius would be six feet under the ground right now. So gulping, he decided to stop messing around and got on the floor as well, getting to work.
"This is the worst!" Jenna said after an hour, throwing the dirty handkerchief away.
"Trust me, it could have been a lot worse," Sirius said earnestly, leaning against one of the shelves.
Even worked out and sweaty, he still looked as handsome as ever, Jenna wondered to herself, but then shook the thought away quickly.
"We're having it good like this." He continued.
"How so?"
"Well, for one, Filch could be hanging us from our toes in the dungeons, and two," his grin widened, "you're in my company now. What's better than that?"
"Anything is better than that," said Jenny, trying hard not to smile.
