Chapter 12

"Who?" Lily questioned in a whisper as her and Jenna made their way towards the round table where everybody else was sitting.

"Theodor Nott." Jenna answered quietly in a snarl, but there was no time to talk more on the matter as they reached their seats.

Theodor Nott was a Slytherin whose admiration for insulting Muggleborns and his fascination toward the Dark Arts made it obvious that he was planning on joining the Dark force after school, if he hadn't already.

"Well, well," Slughorn started beaming at them. "Now that we're all here, let me introduce you to our newest members," he then pointed brightly at Lily and Jenna. "This is Miss Evans, and Miss Potter, of course; two of the best in their year, I would say."

Lily smiled back at Slughorn. But Jenna was busy sending death glares at Theodor Nott, who had on several occasions insulted Lily on her blood status before.

"And our other new member is young Mr. Black here." said Slughorn, pointing at Sirius's little brother, Regulus. "A respectful family, the Blacks are."

Jenna's head turned on them at that. From what she had heard from James, Sirius's family was anything but respectable. Or at least, that was Sirius's version of saying it.

"I'm ever so sorry that your brother couldn't join us tonight, Mr. Black," said Slughorn.

Regulus scoffed. "Don't be."

But Slughorn ignored that sarcastic remark and turned to Jenna. "And I have also heard a lot about your parents, too, Miss Potter. They are both Aurors, am I right?"

Jenna merely nodded, but then went back to play with the food on her plate with her fork, bored. All that was keeping her going was the thought of spending some alone time with Remus tomorrow.

"For those of you who don't know, Fleamont and Euphemia Potter were both very active in our war against Grindelwald around 1945, at the end of it." said Sughorn, regaining everyone's attention by that. "They fought heroically against Grindelwald's followers. And they both received Order of Merlin, second class. Am I right, Miss Potter?"

"Yes, sir." Jenna nodded again, not sharing the same amount of interest in the subject as the rest of the people sitting there did.

"And how old were they back then?"

     "Around twenty, I guess."

"Wonderful!" Professor Slughorn exclaimed. "And not to mention Fleamont Potter was a celebrated Potioneer back in the day. He is the inventor of Sleekeazy's Hair Potion and many other Scalp Treatments."

"Yes, sir." Jenna nodded proudly.

"Fascinating! And how about your parents, Miss Evans?" Slughorn said out of the blue, catching Lily off guard. "What do they do in the Muggle world?"

"Um – well – my mother's a housewife, and my father's a doctor." she said, starting to get questioning glances from others, and a nasty look from Nott.

"Doctor, did you say?" Slughorn raised a curious brow at her.

"It's like Healers, but for Muggles." Lily explained.

"Interesting." Slughorn nodded, though Jenna got the impression that he didn't mean it much.

But the professor then smiled brightly once again when he turned to gesture at a pretty black girl with an afro, saying, "And miss Layla Miller here is the daughter of Izaak Miller; one of the best editors of the Daily Prophet."

Thankfully, to Jenna's relief, the meeting came to an end after dessert was served and they all got up to return to their dormitories.

"Well, that was dull." said Jenna with a huff.

"It wasn't that bad," said Lily, but after receiving a knowing look from Jenna, she rolled her and eyes and said, "Oh, alright! It was terrible! Happy now?"

     "Yeah," Jenna chuckled, "very much."

"I swear, near the end I wanted to shove the dessert plate up Nott's–"

"–Lily!" Jenna gasped, though deeply impressed by her always-polite friend.

"Well, he kept snorting and scoffing each time I opened my mouth!" Lily tried to reason, unable to wipe the smile off her face.

"Well, as your friend, I'm very proud of you and your newly violent intentions," said Jenna, holding Lily's arm. "And next time we see Nott, we both shove a plate up where the sun doesn't shine."

Lily shook her head, laughing. "I swear you're something else, Jen."

"Password?" said the portrait of the Fat Lady as they reached their common room at last.

"Hippogriff," said Lily and by that, the portrait swung open. But the moment they walked in, Lily's smile disappeared.

"Good evening, Lily-flower!" Lily groaned at James's voice as he beamed at her. "How did the dinner party go?"

The common room was empty except for James, Remus, and Peter, who were all sitting around a table with a single parchment before them.

"What are you guys doing up?" Jenna asked.

"Sirius has locked us out of our dorm again," said James bitterly.

"Why – wait! Don't answer that. I don't wanna know." Jenna shook her head in disgust as she saw them grin. "Who's the poor victim this time?"

     "Sarah Jacobs," Remus answered.

"Again?" said Jenna, sounding surprised.

"Hang on!" Lily started angrily. "That Ravenclaw girl? She's in our Charms class!"

"Poor girl," Jenna pursed her lips together, knowing that she was going to get her heart broken soon enough.

"Don't pity her too much, J.P," said James with a grin, looking down at the parchment before them. "Sounded to me like they were having fun–"

     "–Ew, James!" Jenna groaned.

Just then, the door to the boys' dormitory opened, and they saw a blonde girl coming downstairs giggling, with Sirius by her side.

They hadn't even noticed their presence when they got down, until Lily cleared her throat loudly, getting their attention.

The blonde girl stopped in her tracks, looking at them. Yet Sirius managed to hold onto his grin.

"Aren't you a Ravenclaw?" Lily pointed at the girl. "You're not supposed to be in the Gryffindor common room! That would be five points from Ravenclaw!" she said, tapping at her Prefect badge. "Off you go, now!"

Looking embarrassed, the girl quickly left from the portrait hole without saying a word.

"Thanks, Evans," Sirius sighed in relief, putting his hands coolly in his pockets. "Hopefully that would keep her away from me for some while. I've been trying hard to think of a way to tell her off."

"And you!" Lily pointed sharply at Sirius, catching him off guard. "That would be ten points from Gryffindor! You weren't supposed to bring her here, either!"

Jenna watched with a satisfied smile on her face as Sirius's eyes widened at Lily's words. Jenna was enjoying herself so much that she could even kiss Lily on the spot.

"What!? You can't take points from Gryffindor!" Sirius retorted.

"Oh, yeah!" James broke in, as if just realizing it. "I forgot Prefects could give and take points!" he then turned to Sirius with a grin and said, "Nice score tonight, Padfoot. Five points to Gryffindor!"

"What!?" Lily snapped. "You can't do that, Potter!"

"I know I can't," James shrugged with a grin. "But Remus can, if I ask him to."

"He wouldn't—"

"And five points to you, for looking exceptionally beautiful tonight, Evans." James winked at her.

"I'm too tired for this." Lily huffed to herself, walking upstairs towards the girls' dormitory.

"I feel like she's starting to like me," said James hopefully, receiving a comforting pat on the shoulder by Remus.

"So can we go back to the dorm now?" said Peter, yawning and stretching his arms. "I'm getting tired."

"I don't think anyone should go anywhere near that room until it's been fully disinfected." said Jenna jokingly.

"I'm not that dirty, Jenny," said Sirius with a grin. "Hang on. On second thoughts, I probably am."

Jenna huffed. "Lily's right. I'm going to bed."

"Oh, c'mon, Kitten! No need to be jealous!" Sirius called after her as she was walking towards the staircase, causing her to stop on the spot.

"Excuse me!?" Jenna turned around sharply, folding her arms.

"Don't deny it. I know you can't resist me."

Jenna scoffed. "In your dreams, Black."
