Chapter 31

Quickly, Jenna opened Sirius's letter and read through it, her heartbeat speeding up.

     Dear beloved Miss Potter,

Jenna rolled her eyes at that.

As you are probably acquainted with my situation at home, therefor I shall believe that you know I can get bored easily.

Thus, I would like to inform you that you'd be receiving daily letters from my side throughout the Christmas Break.

     Sincerely,
     Your fluffy dog.

"What the..." Jenna's voice trailed off as she reread the letter. By that, Lily leaned forward and read through it as well.

"Fluffy dog?" she raised a brow.

"Er – just an inside joke," Lily gave her another look. "Between James and him."

"He's not serious about sending daily letters, is he?" Lily questioned worriedly.

"Well, he is Sirius," Jenna grinned.

"Oh, not you too," Lily groaned at the old joke. "He better not be sending any more! Tuny's boyfriend will get suspicious if he sees too many owls around!"

"Speaking of owls," Jenna started, pointing at the parlor's window, which an owl was flying outside.

Lily stood up, opening the window and letting the owl inside. "Ooh, it's from Marlene."

"Do you think you can carry a letter for me to somone? I'll pay you." Jenna asked the owl and it hooted softly.

While Lily was busy opening Marlene's gift, Jenna ran towards their room and started writing a letter to Sirius.

Dear Mr. Black,

With all due respect, please don't bother sending me any more letters or I'll shove them up where the sun doesn't shine.

Best regards,
Crookshanks.

Smiling with satisfaction to herself, Jenna went back downstairs and gave the letter to the owl along with a Sickle.

"Get this to Sirius Black," Jenna said and the owl immediately flew away. She then turned to Lily and said, "What does Marlene say?"

"She sent us both a bunch of Chocolate Frogs and says if you can ask your mother and see if she could send Marlene her famous fudges."

Jenna chuckled, shaking her head. "Typical Marlene."

The next day when the girls woke up, Jenna was glad that there was no letter from Sirius and grinned triumphantly to herself as she got ready to go to the mall with Lily.

"Your lot are weird," said Jenna, as Lily dragged her into an elevator.

"You have a house elf and walking gnomes, and this is weird?"

"In our defense," Jenna started. "We don't really see the gnomes. Our house-elf, Mickey, is the one who gets rid of them."

"Ooh, we're here!" Lily said as they reached the top floor of the mall and the elevator's door swung open.

     "Why are we here, again?"

"To go to the movie theater."

"Didn't you have one at home?"

"No, Jenna," Lily said impatiently. "That was the TV in which we saw movies. It's different from cinemas."

     "What's a cinema?"

Lily sighed. "It's the movie theater."

      "But you just said–"

"–Oh, for God's sake!" Lily huffed in frustration. This wasn't the first time Jenna was drowning her in questions since they had arrived.

They then walked up to the counter where they were selling tickets and Lily smiled politely at the man in charge.

"Two tickets for The Jaw, please," she said and the man nodded, taking her money. She then turned to Jenna and said, "It's been recently out. I've heard that it's good."

      But it wasn't.

Or at least, that was Jenna thought when they left the cinema. She felt sick after seeing all those sharks, attacking people.

"Ugh," she groaned to herself, looking a bit green.

"For the hundredth time, Jen," Lily started, "it – wasn't – real!"

"But the way it tore them–"

     "–Nobody was hurt!"

"What do you mean nobody was hurt! Weren't you watching!?Didn't you see how many people it killed!? It was brutal!"

     "But it wasn't rea–"

"That's it! I'm done with tovie meaters!"

     "Movie theaters!"

When they finally got back home, Jenna was sure that she was going to have shark nightmares from now on.

But she forgot all about it when they got to their room and found Lily's window open, with another letter on the bed.

"Please be from James for Lily," Jenna prayed to herself as she picked up the envelope, but groaned when she saw it was yet another letter from Sirius.

"Black again?" Lily asked, closing the window to stop the winter wind from coming inside. "What is he playing at?"

"I don't know," Jenna muttered, but deep down she knew that it probably had something to do with the conversation they had after Slughorn's party.

"You still haven't opened his present, have you?"

"Nah," Jenna shook her head. "I was afraid something would jump out of it or explode or something.

"Fair enough," Lily chuckled. "By the way, any news from Remus?"

By those words, Jenna's stomach gave a guilty lurch. She hadn't even thought about him ever since that night with Sirius.

Remus usual used to send Jenna a box of chocolates for Christmas. But this year, she didn't even receive a letter.

Although, in all fairness, Jenna hadn't sent anything to him this year either. She thought that it would probably be inappropriate after their little spat in Shrieking Shack.

They would eventually go back to normal, Jenna was sure of it. But it seemed too soon for that. So shaking her head of the thought, she started opening Sirius's letter.

     Dear Crookshanks,

I am most unfortunate to bring to your notice that your request has been denied. There is no option for unsubscribing my upcoming letters. You'll just have to deal with it.

     Yours truly,
     Padfoot.

P.S: Make sure to tie your shoelaces. I don't want you falling for anybody else.
