Chapter 75

Dumbledore informed Jenna that her lessons with him would take place every Friday at eight o'clock before she bid him goodbye and left the office.

As she was making her way back to the common room, she tried to think of an excuse for her friends, because she knew they weren't going to let her go without an explanation about what Dumbledore wanted from her.

But her mind was so messed up that she simply couldn't think of anything else, other than the fact that in a few year, she was going to be in the presence of You-Know-Who, taking the form of one of his trusted Death Eaters.

Although when she asked Dumbledore about the how of it, he just told her that when the time was right, he would explain it all.

But for now, he asked her to try and empty her mind of all thoughts and emotions for Occlumency practice, though it seemed impossible to Jenna.

With her thoughts still messed up, Jenna entered their dorm, only remembering that she hadn't come up with an excuse yet as the girls started to bombard her with questions.

"Jen, what happened?"

"What did Dumbledore want?"

"Why did he say he liked Cauldron Cake?"

Alice and Lily turned to Marlene, giving her a look because of her out-of-place question.

"What? I'm just curious to know." She shrugged.

"Well?" Lily looked back at Jenna again, ignoring Malrene. "Was something wrong?"

"No." Jenna shook her head briskly. "He just wanted to talk to me about the Quidditch team. Just checking to see if I still wanted to be the captain, now that our lessons are harder."

Marlene, who seemed convinced, started getting ready for bed and combed her hair. Alice didn't seem to believe Jenna, yet decided not to say anything on the matter as she nodded and pursed her lips together, walking toward her bed.

But Lily's eyes lingered on Jenna suspiciously. "Usually McGonagall talks about these stuff, being the head of our house."

"Dunno, maybe she was busy tonight?" Jenna tried to reason, shrugging the matter off.

To her relief, Lily didn't protest any longer, even though she still could tell that something was off.

When Jenna went to bed, she couldn't seem to fall asleep. Other than thinking about all the ways that Dumbledore's plans could go wrong, there were smaller yet closer problems ahead.

Maybe she had convinced her friends for now, but how was she supposed to get out of it once a week for the next two years?

Although, her worries didn't end with the three girls. Because even if she could shake them off it, there was no way Jenna could get away from her nosy brother.

With Lily and the others, she could lie about having to go to the library, or going for a walk. But Jenna knew all about James's little map, which could easily show her whereabouts.

So rolling out of bed after having a sudden idea, Jenna tiptoed her way out of the dormitory so she wouldn't wake the girls up.

By that time, it was already two a.m and everyone was asleep. So her heart throbbing slightly, she walked up to the boys' dormitory.

Quietly, she neared the door which had a sign on it for sixth year boys, and as slowly as possible, she slid the door open.

She peeked her head inside, making sure that the four boys were all asleep. So with that, she took slow steps toward James's trunk.

She was just about to open it to search for the Marauders' Map that her eyes fell upon the blank piece of parchment on her brother's nightstand.

Swallowing hard, Jenna soundlessly walked forward and took the parchment, tiptoeing out of their dorm once again and going back to the common room.

She quickly took a seat in a corner, taking her wand out and tapping it down on the parchment, murmuring, "I solemnly swear that I'm up to no good."

On cue, the words started appearing on the blank page and soon, it took the shape of Hogwarts' map.

Jenna quickly found the dot which had her name on it, located in the Gryffindor common room on the exact spot that she was sitting.

She had to do something to make her name disappeared off the map so it wouldn't show her anymore. And so with that, she got to work.

It took her almost three hours, but at last at around five o'clock, she managed to get her name off it.

Smiling to herself in satisfaction, she tiredly pointed her wand back at the map and muttered, "Mischief managed."

As soon as the parchment went blank once more, Jenna walked back to the boys' dormitory and opened their door again.

Slowly, she put the parchment back on James's nightstand and started to make her way back to the door.

But as Peter gave a small snore, Jenna stirred around to face him, afraid that he had woken up.

But as she was taking backward steps, she hurtled into someone and with a yelp, she turned around, nearly tripping.

"Jenna?" Looking up, she found herself in Remus's arms who had prevented her from falling.

"Remus, I —"

"What are you doing here?" This times it was James's voice who called behind them.

"What's going on?" said Sirius grumpily, as both him and James sat straight up on their beds, looking at her in confusion.

Only then Jenna and Remus realized that they were still holding on to one another, and so in quick motion, they jerked away from each other.

"What are you doing here, Jenna?" James repeated, putting on his glasses and getting out of bed.

Sirius followed his action and walked toward where her and Remus were standing, frowning slightly.

"I — I had a nightmare," she said the first thing that popped into her head.

"What are you? Eight?" said James sarcastically with a grin.

"What did you dream about?" asked Remus, looking at her with concern.

"Er... Y-You-Know-Who," Jenna said the only reasonable thing that could've explained why she had turned up at their dorm at this time.

"Oh..." James's smile disappeared by those words. "What did he do?"

"I-I don't want to talk about," Jenna mumbled, awkwardly looking away and hoping that they wouldn't figure out that she was lying.

"Don't worry," said Remus, gently putting a hand on her shoulder. "It was just a dream. Everything's fine. You don't have to be afraid."

"She's not afraid," said Sirius sharply, and in a quick motion grabbed a hold of Jenna's arm, dragging her away from Remus.

"Sirius —" Jenna gasped at the sudden act, but his eyes were fixed on Remus.

"Don't worry about her being afraid, Moony," he said flatly. "She's stronger than all of us put together."

"Speaking of being strong," Jenna started, wincing in pain, "you're kind of hurting my arm right now."

"Yes, yes," James begun with a grin. "Let's not forget the five-inches-rule, Padfoot."

Sirius suddenly let go of Jenna, but unlike always, he didn't even smile at James's joke and if possible, looked offended by it.

"Now come to think of it, why does this stupid rule only apply to me?" asked Sirius sharply. "Why not Remus?"

James smirked. "Because he doesn't have the same reputation with ladies as you do, mate."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Sirius snapped. "If you think I would ever hurt Jenna — then —" Sirius closed his eyes, breathing a few times to soothe himself down. "Then you're wrong."

"What's goin' on here?" They all turned at Peter's tired voice, who had just woken up, yawning and rubbing his eyes.

When he finally looked up, he gave a yelp at Jenna's sight and raised the bed covers up to his chin automatically.

"What is Crookshanks doing here?" he gasped, looking bewildered. "She's a girl. Th-this is the boys dormitory!"

"Oh, relax." James rolled his eyes at him, turning back to face the rest of them. "Now where were we?"

"I was leaving," said Jenna.

"Why?" Sirius frowned.

"Because this is definitely a worse nightmare," she said flatly. And so without another word, Jenna left the dorm and returned back to her room, her heart beating fast.
