Wrapping It Up
A/N
I wanted to get this done as soon as possible, but I hadn't expected it to come out this long. I think this is the longest chapter I've written before.
Jax dodged the hero's attack, perching himself on a nearby lamp post. He wanted to tear his hair out; these stupid super-powered humans were so persistent. He grimaced under his mask as Spark Shot fired another electric beam at him. He just needed to move out of the way.
Yet he could feel his host resisting.
The host wasn't aware of what he was doing, but he was aware of the possession. Jax could feel his gloved hands shaking, his fingers involuntarily curling inwards. He didn't have much time left. And as much as he hated to say it, getting that human might have to wait another time.
Escape was the top priority.
He tried to take off, trying to launch himself into the air for an aerial escape. But as soon as he stepping off the post, the rush of gravity pushed him downwards. His powers were already failing, he needed to get out soon.
Falling from the post, Jax nearly dodged the attack, only to have it hit his right arm directly. Pain surged through it for a split second before quickly dying off; another quirk of borrowing a body. His host wasn't going to have a fun time with that, but it wasn't damaging enough for him to care.
As his feet touched the ground, Jax took off running. His steps were uncalculated, causing him to slightly trip often. If he managed to gain enough distance from the heroes, he might be able to
escape.
"After him!" Scorcher yelled. He looked up to see the heroine dropping Spark Shot down to the ground level, who began to pursue him. It was an absolute pain to have a flying nemesis, sometimes. Jax groaned before taking a sharp turn, ducking into an alleyway. He ran down the narrow passage, jumping over a stack of boxes before reaching a dead end. It looked as if there was nowhere for him to run.
This was perfect.

Ashlie picked up Dawn from the rooftop with relative ease, although she did struggle with all of his heavy armor. Uni watched the two as they disappeared from his view, still keeping watch over the civilian. Where ever Fool's Gold was headed, it wasn't his problem anymore.
"You alright?" he asked, turning around to the frightened civilian. The man had stumbled backwards, staring at Uni with wide pecan eyes from behind his glasses. The civilian didn't respond, simply approaching the hero cautiously.
"Looks like Fool's Gold is on the run, so you won't have to worry about him for a while. I'm Sixth Sense, but you probably already knew that to be honest," Uni tried to sound softer and kinder than usual. The civilian nodded.
"I'm Nicholas, b-but it's easier to call me Nick," he replied, his demeanour still rather careful. "Is he really gone?"
"Yeah, my team'll take care of him. But, we're going to need to take you in for some questioning, Nick. It's not every day that a supervillain targets a specific civilian," Uni reassured.
"That seems reasonable enough," Nick replied, the tension between the two melting away very quickly. "I don't really know why he's after me. I'm really just a random office worker,"
That was what was strangest to Uni. If Fool's Gold was going to target someone, why would it be Nick? There must be a reason, but why would a villain have such keen interest on a random civilian?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Dammit! He's gone," Ashlie scowled. The two of them had come across a dead end in the alleyway, Fool's Gold nowhere to be seen. It wasn't the first time this happened, but it always bewildered them.
"He's like a magician or something," Dawn commented, searching the nearby areas for their enemy. She sighed before grabbing Dawn by his arms. He was easy enough to pick up, but his power armor easily added more than a couple of pounds. She took off, flying high above the streets. Her arms were tired, but they kept clinging onto her teammate as they soared through
the sky.
The rooftop they were on earlier had an interesting scene: Uni and Nick were talking to one another as if they'd known each other for years. While she couldn't see the details, the two looked very relaxed despite the previously high-stakes scenario. They landed on the building,
safe and sound, before approaching their teammate.
"He's disappeared again," Dawn informed. Uni looked at him with slight disappointment before
quickly swatting that away.
"I figured. Anyways, we've gotta get this guy back to the base. Matt says so," The psychic responded. "I've already asked him to send in a helicopter and a cleanup group for the damage," Nick stood there, staring at the three of them in mild curiosity. To Ashlie, that wasn't out of the
ordinary, but Nick was usually a little more cautious around people he'd just met.
"Actually, I don't think I was able to introduce myself to you. I'm Spark Shot," Dawn introduced,
shaking the shorter male's hand.
"Nick," the brunette responded before turning to Ashlie.
"Hi, I'm Scorcher," they exchanged a handshake, which felt unnatural to Ashlie. She was introducing herself to one of her friends, and even though she knew who he was, he didn't know who she was. They hadn't exchanged a handshake since the moment they first met; past that it was usually just a wave or a high five.
"Well, we don't have anything to do but just wait- goddammit," Uni started, and as if right on cue, the familiar beating of a helicopter's propellers filled the air, a ladder extending downwards for the four of them. He looked at it in disappointment, obviously upset that he was cut off.
They took turns, going one by one until all four of them had entered the vehicle. As usual, the cockpit was completely blocked off from the passenger seats. It didn't matter who picked them up, only that it was a Phoenix Industry official. Uni and Dawn situated themselves in the front seats while Nick was seated a row behind them. Ashlie took a seat next to her teammates before whispering to the two of them.
"Hey, guys? There's something I need to tell you,"

Jon woke up, slumped against a wall in an alleyway. The evening sun glared in his violet eyes, mercilessly shining onto him. He didn't know where he was, but that was the least of his worries. There was a throbbing pain in his right arm like it had been crushed but none of his bones had been broken. He felt tired and couldn't stand up from the ground. He knew that he might not be
able to make it home. Yet still, what worried him most was what he was wearing.
His normal office attire had been replaced with a tattered green and purple tunic, a thin brown belt holding it snuggly to his waist. He wore long orange gloves and pointed shoes with golden bells at the end of the same color, both of which were slightly cinged. His lengthy green hair was tied back and pinned underneath a jester hat, which was the only accessory that he knew he owned. Next to him was a hard mask. It was white, but it had markings that were the colors of
the rest of his outfit.
And most importantly, the amulet around his neck was out for the whole world to see, the
cerulean stone glowing faintly.
It all looked familiar, but he couldn't quick pinpoint it. Where had he seen this outfit before? He
could've sworn he saw it on the news once or twice.
After a few moments, Jon remembered.
"I'm-I'm-" he started, astonished.
That's right, Jax said.
You're a supervillain.

Sorry about the spacing if that's bothering you.
I've been having spacing issues when writing on Wattpad. Sometimes when I hit enter, it's as if I'm hitting it twice, but whenever I try to delete one, I delete both.
