21. Seminar

Seokjin's point of view

The faint but sharp sound of cutlery clinking with a glass plate which was coming now and then started to annoy me, almost making me feel suffocated. But I was wrong here, I wasn't the clinking sound, but rather the people I was sitting in between. I put down the fork and knife, a soft sigh escaped from my mouth. The overly tight tie was choking me, barely letting me gulp. The clothes were itching me, even though I wore this suit before.

I was sitting at the large dining table, there were many empty seats. I always wondered when I was a child, why did they buy such a huge dining table when there were only four people in the family. The answer; well I'm still not aware of that. I look beside me, Hayoon who was dressed in a white dress; opposite to the atmosphere and her obnoxious personality.

She saw me looking at her, her face churning info displeased upon seeing my face, and why would I step back so I gave her the same displeased face but as soon as I realized where we were sitting, my face changed back to normal. My eyes trailed up, looking at my parents; hoping that they didn't catch me and to my much, they were busy eating. I again sighed and looked at Hayoon.

Why do I feel like a toddler who is still scared of their parents upon catching them messing around with their sibling?

"Husband~," my eyes widened when I heard Hayoon cooing. Her high-pitched ugly voice drew their attention. I was too shocked when I heard her calling me... that. That was pure cringe. "Why aren't you eating? Do you want me to serve you more? Want some more wine?" She smiled, and I could say how she was forcing her smile.

"Yes please," I pressed my voice and looked towards them, "wife. Wine would be good." I puked that word out of my mouth. When they felt satisfied, they continued to eat.

"Your parents are shitty and annoying, your mom is staring at us now and then." She harshly whispered as she poured red wine into my glass. Now I knew why she offered me wine.

"Tell something which I don't know."

"You're an asshole, admit it."

"You're a petty bitch, don't forget because of you we are here—"

"What are you both whispering? Share with us too." My mother's voice parted us away. I looked at Hayoon who was now... blushing and looking at the plate.

"Honey, they are husband and wife. Don't interrupt them and make them uncomfortable." Dad stopped her, she widened her eyes and nodded in an understanding way.

Your sole presence is uncomfortable.

I wished I could spit this on their face. On second thought, I could say that in their face; what I'm scared of? Like it's not like they will kick me out of their company and disown me as they did with my older brother. After all, I'm their last heir, if they decide to do so the entire JinHit will directly go under my uncle Kim Hojin which my dad, Kim Chaejin would never want.

This was the reason why I was pressured to leave modeling school and was prepared to be a successful CEO.

"Do you know why I invited you both here?" Dad suddenly asked.

"Why?" Hayoon asked uninterestedly.

"There are three matters we need to discuss, as a family and as in business."

"What?" I asked, fearing what this old man had in mind.

"Hayoon, the scandal you have caused has a massive effect on JinHit company." He spoke looking dead into Hayoon's eyes. "Not in a negative way, company's stocks rose, your popularity boosted and you got more projects. No matter how beneficial it was to you and the company, the best thing was that JinHit resolved this scandal by saying he was just your friend." Dad continued making both of us angry and uncomfortable.

"Hayoon," my mother spoke. "You're not only Kim Hayoon, the famous model but also you're Kim family's daughter-in-law and a respectable woman. You're carrying your dignity along with us, even if you're hidden from the media. Don't just go around and try to throw yourself at men. Do you think we don't know what you're planning up to? Since day one you've been trying to ruin Kim's reputation. Stop whoring around and be a perfect wife to Seokjin." My mother taunted making my head snap.

"Mom!" My voice raised. "You're talking to not only my wife but a woman too. How could you just assume that you have no proof?"

"You—"

"I believed her when she told me that that man was her childhood friend." I lied, making Hayoon look at me. "I was angry when the picture got leaked but what can we do? Our relationship is not public so it's normal for him to happen. Media just made it twisted because ages are still single, it's not her fault." I asserted making them shut up for good.

"B-But you should be careful! Imagine things that would have been done the other way around. Our company would have faced millions of dollars of loss."

"That— I would have paid back from my work," Hayoon replied.

"Let's not discuss this since it's all over now. I just want Hayoon to be careful next time, it will be good if you don't meet that guy ever again."

"What do—" Hayoon raised her voice, very annoyed by dad's request but before she could yell and create havoc I spoke.

"Her friend doesn't live here, he was here for a project that went back to England." I lied again, making them nod. They were happy to hear there was no more trouble.

"Now, another thing. Seokjin, I and your mother will be going back to Gwacheon."

Very good, go as soon as you can.

"So?"

"I met my childhood friend, he's the dean of Persona Academy."

"Never heard of that academy."

"He invited me to give a little seminar for their students. But since I'll be going back I want you to attend the seminar as a special guest. I already told him you'll be attending and he's more than happy."

"Okay." I scoffed and rolled my eyes and continued with my steak. He knows I don't like to go in public yet he arranged this shitty thing with his friend.

"Now the main thing," my mother said, making me groan. "It has been six months since you both got married." She continued.

"Yeah so?" Hayoon and I both replied together while sipping our wine. I must say— sometimes I see myself in her. Sometimes? Heck every time. From attitude to behavior everything. The thing is I'm more beautiful than her. I'm worldwide handsome and no one can compare.

"So when are you giving us grandchildren?" Hayoon's eyes widened and all the wine which was in her mouth was still straight from her nose, spilling on the table and her white silk dress. Their eyes widened and they stood up from their seats while she was covering her red face coughing continuously on the opposite side.

"Hayoon are you alright?" Dad asked her and she raised her to stop them.

"I'm— alright." She said while coughing.

"What kind of husband are you, help your wife." My mother yelled at me, who was trying so hard not to laugh. Well, the scene unfolding in front of me was of course funny, seeing mighty Hayoon being ugly and messy is one of the most satisfying things I've ever seen.

"I can't believe you're laughing right now." She yelled while passing tissues to her. She wiped her face and nose while glaring at me.

"Now where were we?" Dad asked, "Ah, when are you planning kids?"

"Dad, I told you last time too and I'm going to say this again. It's way too soon for having a kid. It just has been six months, not to forget Hayoon. Her career is currently at its peak, she's not ready for a kid, and neither am I." I lied, trying to give an excuse.

"What do you mean by last time?" Hayoon asked, clearly confused and shocked.

"I spoke to him about this a month ago, guess he didn't tell you about this." My mother sighed.

"But he's right, I just can't have a kid right now."

"But you're his wife, you're married and your main objective is to be a good wife to him and bear his children." I choked on her sentence, I looked at Hayoon who was fishing her hand.

"Mom, in which century are you living?"

"I'm saying the right thing."

"No—"

"I understand everything, Mrs. Kim. You just want us to have a child so that we can go public in the media, so your brother-in-law can be excluded from JinHit and properties. How selfish can you be?" Hayoon spat, making their mouth gape.

"H-Hayoon it's not this. We just want to see six-seven grandchildren roaming here before we die."

"You just want to confirm who is next to the Kim family," I answered back.

"Seokjin." Dad raised his voice.

"What?"

"We want a grandchild as soon as possible."

"No, we don't want a child," I replied while putting a knife and fork on the table. Taking a tissue and whipping my mouth I looked at my dad who was glaring at me. "More like we can't have a kid. Because first, we are not ready for parenthood. Second, truth to be told our relations are still not that strong to have a child. We are still newly married and still understanding and knowing each other. Third, the whole marriage agreed on one thing, let h Hayoon continue her career. She has to leave the industry for some time after being a mother. This will surely affect her career which we both don't want. So in the end, we can't." I smirked while rationalizing everything. "You won't want to break the deal with her father, will you?" I again smirked knowing they couldn't.

"If that is all, we would like to leave. I have a seminar to attend, I hope you have sent details to my assistant beforehand, just like how you agreed to it." I stood up and walked out of the mansion, Hayoon following behind me.

"Damn Kim Seokjin, for the first time I'm impressed." Hayoon spoke as I sat in my car.

"Shut your ugly mouth." I mumbled while turning on the ignition.

"Why didn't you tell me about the baby talk?" She asked after a while.

"It wasn't necessary."

"Thanks."

"For what? Laughing while you snorted the whine?"

"No asshole, for taking my side."

"I just took your side because... I know how it feels not to have anyone by your side— to have your back." My tone was sad.

"Your mother was being bitch."

"I know, she is." I smiled and replied.

"And your dad is a jerk."

"I'm aware of that fact."

"And you're an asshole."

"And you're a petty bitch. God knows what you would have done if I wasn't there to speak for you."

"I know bitch, I know."

"Now Hayoon, please beware when you meet your boy toy. We can't afford any more scandals." I sighed and rolled my eyes.

"This won't happen, I found somebody who can help me." She smirked. "And he's not my boy toy ass, he's my boyfriend."

"Whatever, also for fuck sake don't end up being pregnant."

"What the fuck Seokjin."

"Yeah, you ending up getting pregnant would only lead this sham marriage into a real one. And I'm not in fucking mood to announce you as my wife."

"I get it, I won't. I'm not interested in you either. You're the worst person I've ever met.

"You're not much different than—" my sentence got cut by a notification on my phone. I held the steering in one hand and tried to take out my phone from my pocket.

"It's bad to check your phone while driving."

"It's bad to speak when nobody asks you anything."

"Dumbass, just asked assistant to speak for you. Can't you see how busy the street is? I don't wanna die." She's right, for this time only.

"Assistant, speak the message for me."

"Sure WWH. Message from Sun bitch." My eyes widened and I looked at Hayoon who was looking at me.

"Assistant stop—"

"Wanna hear a joke? I have two actually. One, Jin, and second, Jin's dick." The assistant spoke, my ears redden, and the loud obnoxious laughter-filled the car.

This woman never leaves a chance to embarrass me in front of others.
