Welcome Pubbers to 2017!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful New Year's celebration!!

We have started the new year off with a bang here at the Pub, with new challenges and new contests.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Poem A Day Challenge

Our first challenge for 2017 is to commit to writing a poem a day. Everyone is encouraged to take on this exciting challenge. If you choose to do so, please send us a PM and we will add your name to the list of participants.

We hope to have a sticker, soon, that you can proudly display on which ever collection you decide to use for this challenge.

We also ask that you use the hashtag #PPpoem-a-day so we will be able to keep up with those participating and support one another.

Finally we will be featuring a poem each day form the participants collections.

January 2017 Contest

Our first contest of the year is already underway.

"Our Pub" is a contest that challenges, anyone who chooses to enter, to write a poem describing what the "Poets Pub" would look like if it were a real place.

It must be a poem of at least 12 lines and all submissions are due by January 31, 2017 by midnight MST.

NEW BUSINESS:

Recently we have had many new people join the Pub and to all of them I say WELCOME! Whenever we get new members, they not only bring with them their own work, but they introduce us to other authors on Wattpad that we may not have come across before.

I think it is fair to say that all of us have our favorite authors on Wattpad and beyond. We all have authors that inspire us and awe us with their immense talent. I myself have always admired the poetry of Emily Dickinson, Poe, and Pablo Neruda, just to name a few.

So for this week's prompt I would like to take it in two different directions.

PROMPT:

Part 1 - I would like to encourage all of you to share in the comments section who your favorite authors are, include both Wattpad authors and authors outside of Wattpad. I think it will make for some lively discussion as well as introduce each other to authors we have not encountered yet.

Part 2 - I have to first give credit to Andrewagreen for giving me the idea for this prompt. I would like for you to find one of your all time favorite poems and then write a poem in its likeness. Whether you use the same subject matter or style it doesn't matter, just let the poem inspire you.

Happy New Year everyone.

2017 will be an exciting year for the Poets Pub. As we continue to grow, I have seen a future that includes the Poets Pub expanding to other countries.

Part of our plans for this year is to put a group of energetic individuals together to begin their countries version of the Poets Pub.

A Poets Pub that will be strictly in their own language.

Plans are already in place for expansion to India and I am asking our Family of Pubbers for suggestions as to what other countries we should expand to.

So if you have ideas or you want to be a part of this expansion, please drop us a private message and we will talk it over.

Also 2017 will see the Pub begin to steer into the direction of being a more informative place, which will begin to introduce our Pubbers to the many standard forms of Poetry that exist in the world. From haiku to Blitz and everything in between, we have started discussion with one of our own to that effect.

We are also planning to have one of our own offer the opportunity to have you Poems critiqued, if you so want to.

We will also begin an open forum, where you can ask questions of your favourite Poets here at the Pub and we will do our best to have those questions answered for you.

And of course our first competition is on and the first step toward the 2017 Pubber of the Year is in motion.

This year, we will also be crowning a youth Pubber of the Year, for our growing family of teenage Pubbers.

So an exciting year for the Pub and for those associated with it. So lets all do our best to become more involved and help to make this year the biggest the Pub has ever seen.

And lets put on a bit of a members drive and see how quickly we can get to 6000 Pubbers.

Finally, I want to thank my two sidekicks, Sona and Myna, who have made this past year so much easier.

With Sona possibly taking a new direction with the Pub in 2017, I will be relying more and more on our Mystres of Chatter.

I feel sorry for her. Lol.
