How is everyone doing tonight/today!!  I hope everyone has had an AMAZING week.  We have had a hopping week here at the Pub, with lots of new entries for this month's contest and new members.

If everyone will grab your drink and pull up a stool we will get this meeting started.

Poets Pub India:

For any of those who have not heard we have a new sister sight Poets Pub India and it is being headed up by our very own Sona.  We plan to have a grand opening in the near future as well as some crossover contests.  So, head on over and check out what they have going on over there.

Poem-A-Day:

Poem-A-Day collection is coming along nicely.  We still need about 10 more poems to be back on track. Just a reminder that everyone is welcome to add a poem/poems to this collection, even if you have not taken on this challenge.  If you would like to take the challenge just jump right in, but don't forget to let us know and add the hashtag #PPpoem-a-day to the book you are using.

Personal Announcement:

This week I would like to share with you a great accomplishment of one of our Pubbers.  Michael Tyger published his 1000th poem on Wattpad!!  This is certainly deserving of a celebration!! I would like to offer up a big Congratulations to Michael.  He has agreed to share his poem with us this week, in the hopes of encouraging others to continue writing and reaching for the stars!

I would like to present Michael Tyger's 1000th poem on Wattpad:

A Thousand By MichaelTyger

Carefully and squarely stepping up

Making my way in a determined climb

The wind at my back looking up

but a thousand steps still takes time

and a day is like a thousand years

and I write a thousand years in a day

though at the start I had my fears

I remember the thousand things you say

Your life though passed is my song

Your heart still carries me along

Your eyes at the edge of all I see

Your joy is inspiration that motivates me

Here near the denouement I stand

waiting as if to find your hand

Taking a thousand breaths I wait

watching the skies foreboding gray

OLD BUSINESS:

So far this month's competition has been a great success! We have had a great turn out and excellent submissions. 

However, Bill decided to mix things up, so for any of you that many have missed it, there is a second part to this month's contest.

A two part challenge.

#1 ...Using the same 8 words, write the shortest possible Poem that you can.

Pretty simple? Right? The shorter the poem, the better.

#2 ...Using the same 8 words write a poem making a social statement.

To do this, you will have to use many of the words as metaphors, to get your point across.

So, now everyone can send in up to 4 poems for this month's contest.

NEW BUSINESS:

New Pub Sister Site:

We are excited to announce that the Poets Pub has also partnered up with Teen-Age! This is our third Poets Pub site. It will be geared to 13 - 19 year old writers and will be featuring poetry, short stories as well as novels. We hope to encourage the younger Wattpad crowd and hope that all of us can be role models for these aspiring writers. Look for future contests as well as crossovers.

Voting for April Contest:

We are half way through our April contest.  Please be sure to start thinking about which poems you like best and be ready to choose your top 3-5 poems, because you the Pubbers will be choosing this month's winner.

MYNA'S MUSINGS:

Sometimes it is the simplest things that bring forth great thought and introspection. So this week I would like to offer up some seemingly simple prompts, in the hopes they will inspire something deeper.

Prompt #1 - Write a poem about a dream and what you think it might have meant.

Prompt #2 - Write a poem about your favorite childhood toy and why it was special to you.

DOWN AT THE SALOON:

As always, there is no better place on Wattpad, to find great entertainment than over at the storytellers saloon.  The Busted Gulch crew is continuing to provide hours of drama, hilarity, mystery, and good wholesome fun.  I would also like to extend a big Poets Pub Congratulations to the writers of the Busted Gulch series, Busted Gulch Vol. 4 has set a new record, they have reach #27 on the Adventure hot list.  Well done everyone!

New Challenge:

The storytellers-saloon is also hosting another writing contest this month.

It is an April Fools writing challenge.  Stories must be between 500 – 2000 words long and you have until April 30th to get your submissions in.  To find out all about it head over to the Saloon.
