I Know a Place (chickenteeth)
Pub Chatter: UNBOUND - October 8, 2017 - Prompt #3 - Write a poem about the famous painting Nighthawks by Edward Hopper (below), but put a scary twist to it.
I Know a Place (demented Waltz for city folk :))
I know a place where the soup's always warm
And the jukebox plays soft in the air.
I know a place that will welcome the lonely
When home is just too much to bear.
Open the door, hear a little bell jingle
And a fella says "hi, take a chair".
He'll serve up some cake and a cup of hot jo.
It's the place where the nighthawks go.
I know a place where the soup's always warm
And the jukebox plays soft in the air.
I know a place that will welcome the lonely
When home is just too much to bear.
But don't be deceived by their smiles so friendly.
Nighthawks are hunters, their bite is most deadly.
They'll be your best friends, till it's time to depart.
Then they'll pop out your eyes, and eat out your heart.
I know a place where the soup's always warm
And the jukebox plays soft in the air.
I know a place that will welcome the lonely
When home is just too much to bear.
