Found you early this year

Like a foggy dream you came to us

Our exchange for winter's snowy beard

Was this warm and gentle touch

Even here at a transition like this

Rain was falling with your first kiss

Spring is a most gracious lover

Remember her for youth and passion

Exciting in her wayward fashions

Never still but always growing

Ever filled with new life showing

Where butterfly escapes cocoon so ashen

Perhaps this dream will last awhile

Let us laugh like children long

Always happy in their smiles

Yearning only to sing their song

Go to the swings on the playground

Reach for the monkey bars once more

Or at least we can go hide and seek

Under the stars beside the creek

Now that we have discovered mud again

Dirty mud and faithful friends

Before we new her like we do

Unaware of her every hue

There was anticipation for something new

The sun shown bright in skies blue

Every season that passes now

Regards her less and less somehow

For we take her for granted every year

Like something expected; no longer dear

Yet she still renews our world

Remember the love you held long ago

Anticipating what new days would bring

Interested in how our nature grows
