'The Four Presents' by Walter Crane
A simple girl was she,
Her home was on the water.
She was an only child,
An only beloved daughter.
When the time came for her to wed-
To marry and to settle-
She met with four suitors
To show options of every level.
The first gentleman brought a bush
In a blue earthenware pot.
The main problem with him
Was that he wore a flowery tunic top.
The next suitor brought a ram
But the lady had a shock-
He brought this creature to her
But she was allergic to livestock!
The third fellow was a scholar
And wrote on tablets of stone,
The lady didn't like that his shoes
Were red Louboutins, better than her own.
The final chap brought a simple egg
And it seemed her searched was finished.
She chose this humble man immediately as
She'd had no breakfast and was bloody famished.
