Chapter Six:
Bad Moon Rising.

Hailie made Caroline her daylight necklace as soon as the sun was up, and Nat and Hailie were currently on their way to the Forbes house, to give it to the new vampire. It was simple, a diamond shape, with a white gold outline and a gold chain, and it was a little bit discreet as well, because it was small and not flashy but would still do what it was meant to do. 

Hailie knocked, once they got up to the door, "Hey Care, it's Hails and Nat." 

"I can't get to the door because of the sun Hails," Caroline called out to her best friend. 

"Is the door unlocked?" Hailie called back.

"No, Mom locked it when she left and the sun is shining right in the doorway." 

Hailie nodded, "Okay, Care just stay back okay? don't worry about us, just stay back out of the sun." Hailie looked at Nat who nodded, knowing what the doppelganger witch wanted to do. 

They grabbed hands and unlocked the door with magic, Caroline furrowed her brow as she heard the lock click open. Hailie opened the door and they stepped into the house and Nat closed the door behind her immediately.  

All while this is happening Stefan was trying to convince Bonnie to make Caroline a daylight ring, unaware that the situation was about to be handled. 

Hailie smiled softly at her best friend and placed the necklace around her best friend's neck. "there you go Care-Bear, the sun will no longer harm you as long as you have that necklace on and it's been spelled so that only you can take it off, of your own volition, so if you don't want it to come off then it won't." 

Caroline stepped into the sun and squealed happily hugging her best friend when nothing happened as the sun touched her skin. "Thank you, Hails!" 

Hailie hugged her back, "You're welcome Care-Bear." they pulled back Hailie smiled at Caroline, "Now if you're up for it Nat is going to take you and start teaching you how to control your newfound abilities as a vampire and then afterward depending on how it goes we're going to go shopping."

Caroline smiled "Sounds good to me."

Hailie nodded. "All right then." Caroline went to get ready, and five minutes later, the three girls left the Forbes house. 

They were going into the next town over, for Nat to teach Caroline about being a vampire and go to the mall there once they finish the lessons. 

Ten minutes after they left Stefan and Bonnie showed up at Caroline's house, the green-eyed Salvatore having convinced Bonnie to make Caroline a daylight ring. Stefan rang the doorbell but there wasn't even movement inside the house. "that's strange... she shouldn't be able to leave the house, the sun's out... but there are no signs of anyone being home at all."

Bonnie gave him a look "How can that be possible? if she can't be in the sun?"  

"I don't know." He pulled out his phone and called Elena.

After the lesson on being a vampire from Nat, which Caroline picked up easily. They were at the mall, in the food court because Hailie had wanted some food. 

Caroline suddenly froze, her mind was still jumbled from Damon's compulsion but with jer being a vampire now, it was slowly wearing off and things were making sense to her now. 

"Care?" Hailie questioned softly. 

"Oh my god...." Caroline swallowed thickly, tears pricking up in her eyes. 

"Care-Bear? What is it?" Hailie spoke again same soft tone.

Nat observed the blonde vampire, and then looked at Hailie, "she's remembering something that she was compelled to forget before she was turned." 

Hailie nodded and lightly touched her best friend's shoulder, "what happened Care-Bear?" 

Caroline looked at her best friend, tears welling up in her eyes as she finally remembered everything that Damon had done to her, and then compelled her to forget. Her face paled, "I think I'm going to be sick..." Hailie immediately helped her up and got her to the bathroom. As soon as they were in there Caroline threw up. 

Hailie held her hair up and rubbed her best friend's back, "It's okay Care, I've got you, just let it out." 

"Sorry..." the blonde vampire grimaced. 

Hailie continued to rub her back, "It's okay Care, you don't have to apologize... want to tell me what brought that on though?" 

Caroline shuddered again, "I uh just remembered something," tears welled up in her eyes again. "Damon... he compelled me back when I was just human, last year." 

Hailie nodded, "Okay what did he compel you to forget?" 

The blonde vampire swallowed thickly again, as another shudder ran down her spine... "he didn't just compel me to forget things.... he compelled me to agree with everything he wanted to do, even if I didn't want to...." She trailed off. 

A look of realization slipped onto Hailie's face, "Care..... he didn't do what I think he did... did he?" 

Tears fell down Caroline's face, as she nodded, "he did.... I said no and then he compelled me to be quiet and to do as he said...." 

Hailie hugged her immediately "Oh sweetie... I'm so sorry." Hailie was officially pissed, but she was not going to show that in front of Caroline right now because that was not what her best friend needed right now. 

The blonde vampire hugged her best friend back, as she cried. Nat had joined them, she had gone to get Caroline a few things as soon as Caroline and Hailie had disappeared to the bathroom.  Nat looked at the scene confused, as she saw the murderous expression on Hailie's face. 

Hailie shook her head slightly at the Mikaelson Hybrid, her look conveying that she'd tell her later if it was all right with Caroline that is. Hailie continued the rub Caroline's back as she cried as she continued to remember everything that Damon had done to her during that short time. 

"Here I brought some things to help freshen up with," Nat said making her presence known to the blonde vampire.  

Caroline calmed down a little bit later, "Thanks, Nat." 

"Of course, what happened if you don't mind me asking?" The Miakelosn Hybrid questioned.

Hailie clenched her fist as Caroline let go of her, to look at Nat, and Nat noticed first the way that the room seemed to start shaking ever so slightly as Hailie's mind went to all the ways that she was going to hurt Damon, for what he had done to her best friend, and who knew how many other women.

Caroline then noticed it too, "what's going on?" she asked confused since they hadn't told her about Hailie having magic yet.  

"Hails" Nat said trying to get her attention knowing that her magic was going to lash out if she didn't reign it in soon.  But that didn't get the doppelganger witches' attention.  "Hailie!" Nat snapped shaking the girl's shoulder. 

"Huh?" The brunette said as she looked at Nat. 

"Your control almost just snapped, the room was shaking...."  

"Damn," Hailie blew out a breath, "my bad Nat..." 

"what just happened?" Caroline questioned the two. 

"Okay, so there is one thing that we haven't told you yet, because we were kind of easing you into it. but Nat is not only a vampire but she's a hybrid and also a witch, and I am also a witch I don't know how that part happened yet but yeah.... I may have lost my temper a little bit thinking about all the ways I am going to hurt that bastard for what he did to you... which was why the room was shaking a little bit." 

Caroline nodded at her best friend, "Okay... anything else you haven't told me?" 

"No that covers it Care-Bear." 

"Okay then." she took the stuff Nat brought in and brushed her teeth and popped a mint into her mouth to get the puke taste out of her mouth. Caroline then explained what had happened to Nat which made Hailie's reaction make sense to her. 

They continued shopping after that, Hailir doing everything in her power to make Caroline feel better after what just happened.

The trio got back to Mystic Falls in time for Tyler's little party, they got changed had headed out to the location. 

Caroline immediately went to find Matt, leaving Nat and Hailie alone, Hailie smiled after the blonde vampire. 

Stefasn saw Caroline disappear into the crowd, making him furrow his brow as he noticed she wasn't wearing a daylight ring. 

Hailie had seen Stefan watching Caroline and she made her way over to him. "Your brother is dead the next time I see him." 

Stefan looked at her confused, "what has Damon done?" 

She glared at him, "for what he did to Caroline?" 

"What do you mean?" the green-eyed Salvatore questioned. 

Hailie gave him a flat look, "Come on Stefan, use that brain of yours..." 

The vampire genuinely looked confused, like he had forgotten when Damon had just 'fed' on the blonde when she was still human. 

Hailie scoffed at the look, "Fine play that way if you want but the next time I see his ass, he's dead, and I don't care who protests against it, because that is my best friend and you don't fuck with my best friend and get away with it."  She stormed off after that Stefan still looking confused. 

Nat looked at her as she rejoined her, "Did he just pull that confused act out of his ass?" 

"I believe he did because there's no way he didn't know that something was happening.... makes me wonder who else could have known that something was going on... I swear if Elena knew that he used Caroline like that and did absolutely nothing about it... I might just kill her too." Hailie clenched her jaw, getting angry again the more she thought about it. But this time she took a deep breath and reigned it in for the moment.  

Nat squeezed her shoulder, "Uh maybe hold off on that one and just hand her over to Nik instead whenever he shows his face?"

Hailie snorted, "Okay fair enough.... but first I need to know if she knew about it before I make that decision in full.... because I know that mom and dad did not raise us to put up with that kind of bullshit." 

Nat shook her head at her best friend, chuckling, "Probably one of the only times that violence would be condoned?" 

Hailie nodded, "Definitely, Dad taught us self-defense for a reason. But now that I think about it, Elena was never really that into it, but I paid very close attention to those lessons." she smirked, "and now I can do even more damage without even lifting a finger." 

Nat smirked at her, "that's so true." 

The two hung around the party for a while, and Stefan was watching Caroline practically the whole time thinking that because she was so new she was going to slip up and hurt someone but so far she'd done extremely well, which surprised the youngest Salvatore.   

Hailie rolled her eyes every time she saw Stefan watching Caroline, which was why she walked over to him with a smirk, "She's a natural, wouldn't you agree Stefan?"   

He looked at Hailie, "did you have something to do with why she can be in the sun?" 

Hailie scoffed, "Obviously... she's my best friend, I'm not letting her suffer through anything alone... I got her a daylight necklace, it's quite a bit cuter than the rings, and Care likes necklaces more than rings, Nat's been teaching her things too so I repeat she's quite the natural at this whole vampire thing huh?"

Stefan gave her a look, ignoring the last bit of what she said, "wait it doesn't have to be a ring?" 

Hailie shook her head, "No... that's just the most common thing used, could be a necklace, a bracelet, hell even earrings or other types of piercings." Hailie rolled her eyes, "you don't have to keep watching her every move you know? my girl has got this... plus not every new vampire needs to be on your little Bambi diet."

Stefan looks at her offended, "and hurting innocent people is better?"

Hailie scoffed giving him an unimpressed look, "there are plenty of shitty people on this planet Stefan, and blood bags are also a thing so really who is in the wrong here? the one that kills innocent animals disrupting the ecosystem or feed from blood bags and or killing bad people? plus they don't have to kill the people they feed from."

Stefan just scoffed at her before turning and walking away from her, which made Hailie roll her eyes as she rejoined Nat and Caroline who had walked up while Hailie was talking to Stefan.

"you girl's ready to go?" the Gilbert witch asked the other two.

They both agreed and the three girls left the party.

Hailie texted Elena, when they got back to Carolines since the blonde agreed to Hailie and Nat staying the night at her house.

We need to talk when you get home Lena.

Lena🩷:
of course Hails I'll let you know when I get home and we'll talk about whatever it is.

Hailie nodded satisfied with the response, she texted her back saying okay that she'd talk to her more when she got home.

I will be bashing both of the Salvatore brothers but I'm thinking about not bashing Elena, originally I was going to but for a change I'm thinking about not doing it and keeping the twins close instead of rifting their relationship like I had originally planned.

So my question who should I put Elena with? it can be anyone but Kol since he's being paired with Hailie.
