Well Met
Yiri Val, an Awoken Revenant, maneuvered his sparrow past the narrow passages towards the Sanctuary on the Moon. He was just returning from a particularly difficult bounty from Eris, but it was no issue in the end.
Speaking of whom, Eris was at her usual spot, mostly alone save for the lifeless redjacks that defended the small area around her. She regarded the returning hunter with little more than a small glance before peering back down at the tablets and information at her desk.
Yiri hopped off of his sparrow and walked up to meet the lightless woman.
"You've returned sooner than expected, my friend." Eris said rather plainly, turning to face Yiri.
"Hm? Felt like ages to me." Yiri shrugged, feminine voice a little distorted through his helmet.
"Maybe so...you tend to lose track of time after staying here for so long...Do you need anything, hunter?"
"Still not gonna call by name yet?"
"I will when I see your face; until then."
Yiri sighed, golden eyes rolling. "Anyways...I just wanted to talk." The hunter looked around the rather lonely environment. No ships were landing, for once, and there didn't seem to be anything that would require Eris's immediate attention on the horizon. "Seems like you have the time."
"Be quick with it. You never know when something may come up; especially with the situation on Europa."
"Yeah yeah." Yiri waved it away rather dismissively before leaning against the nearby railing. "You don't get lonely up here? Sure you have us coming in but most guardians just get their bounties and go...and I doubt the redjacks are good company."
"I usually prefer their silence rather than pointless banter."
Another eye-roller for Yiri.
"But...lately the silence has been deafening. You could say I have been feeling...'lonely.'"
"Never thought of, y'know, taking a day off? The Moon's not going anywhere...I hope. Europa is a different matter, sure, but you could probably get someone else to give out bounties here while you're gone."
"Too much work to do." Eris responded flatly.
"Like what?"
Eris took longer than expected to even open her mouth. Her three eyes scanning blankly.
"Thought so.." Yiri shook his head. "I'm pretty sure even Zavala takes a day off every now and then. Yesterday I swore I saw him laughing and playing cards down in a saloon in the city. I can't recall the last time I've even seen your ship buzz the tower."
"What's your point?" Eris sighed, annoyance seeping through her tone.
Yiri lifted himself off of the railing to turn back to Eris. "You need some time off. Live a little."
"You're beginning to sound like that Rat in the annex." Eris's eyes narrowed. "I'm 'living' just fine."
Yiri sighed, feeling the growing exasperation in the woman's voice, and nodded slowly. "Sorry."
"It's alright, you're clearly concerned," Eris turned to the desolate, hive infested landscape of the moon. "Your concern is not unwelcomed, but unnecessary. I'm fine."
"Hm...what are your plans?" Yiri stepped up next to Eris, leaning once more on the railing.
"Pardon?"
"After all of...this. Savathun, the Moon, Europa, the Fallen...When everything is dealt with, what are you going to do then?"
"I...have not thought that far ahead." Eris looked down for a moment.
Yiri didn't respond right away except for a small 'hmph.' He was going to say more when a message from Zavala came in through his earpiece. "Well, nice talk. Duty calls." Yiri sighed, picking himself up and beginning to walk to his ship.
"What about you? 'When everything is dealt with?'" Eris stopped him, though not addressing Yiri directly as her own triple-eyed gaze was still lowered.
"Me? I dunno if I'll be around that long. But if I am, maybe settle down in the city, and see where life takes us."
"'Us?' I didn't realize you were spoken for. Who are they?"
"I dunno yet." Yiri chuckled before giving Eris a small wave and jumping into his ship, zooming off to whatever assignment the Titan Vanguard gave him.
Eris finally looked up just in time to watch his black, flying wing blast off. She watched until the craft was no longer visible, and looked down at the glowing orb she always held with her.
