Chapter 3

-So, guys, how it's going?- Yeonjun's mother asked leaning back in the chair.

Soobin and Yeonjun exchanged a look, like sayiing "It's none of my business, she's talking to you. Don't you see that she is?"

So they both didn't answer, waiting for the other to.

-I'm talking to you, do you know? Not to the wall behind you.- tha woman said after few seconds, crossing her arms over her chest while sarcastically smiling.

-"You" who?- Yeonjun asked, innocently. -Not me, right?-

His mother rolled her eyes.

-Since you're behaving so stupidly for real for real, you'll be the one to start.- she decided.

Yeonjun sighed while leaning back in the chair too.

-What was the question?-

-Do you use condoms?-

Yeinjun goggled while blushing violently, and Soobin couldn't help but widend his eyes too, disconcerted.

-Mum...- Yeonjun protested in a strangled voice.

-Son.-

-Maybe you could...-

-Do you use them?-

-I don't need them!-

-And I don't need any grandchildren! I'm too young!

-And, not last, I sill have a stupid and young son who duesn't use condoms.-

At this point, Yeonjun was red as a tomato and his father and Soobin couldn't hepl but chuckled looking at the scene.

-Mum, stop this thing, please.- Yeonjun begged, hiding his face behind his hands. -I'm a virgin.-

-And why didn't you say so right away?- the woman asked.

-I told you to stop, kindly.-

-I'm bossy, not kind.-

-I see.-

-So?-

-I got 6- in math.- Yeonjun gave up, keeping his face hidden, while his father giggling and patting his soulder.

Yeonjun's mother sighed.

-Nothing special at all.

-It's okay.

-Remember to use condoms.-

Soobin didn't know what to think.

In all his foster families, nobady ever talked about condoms at dinner.

And, since it was fun, he coulldn't say that he disliked the thing.

He was about to fall in his thoughts, but Yeonjun's mum woke him up.

-And what about you?-

Soobin blinked, wrongfooten.

-Me?-

Yeonjun's father laughed.

-Yes, you, young man. How was your day? Did you have fun? Did you like the place? Did you met anyone?-

The boy blinked again and was sure that could have go on forever.

Why were they asking about those things?

No one ever did it before.

But it was also tre that no one ever did anything that the people in that house seemed to do without even thinking about.

-The cat stole your tongue?- Yeonjun's mum asked, seeing that he wasn't answering.

Soobin blinked for the infinitesimal time.

-Oh... Ehm... Sorry...

-Anyway, yeah...

-I mean, my day was good, I guess. Definitely good.- he said without pausing, stumbling in his own tongue.

-And did you met anyone? Anyone nice?-

Soobin wrinkled his nose, faking to think.

-I don't know... Yeonjun, maybe?- he speculated.

Yeonjun blushed even more, his fathe giggled and his mother snorted contemptously.

-He could be someone of course, but he couldn't be nice, not nice at all.

-Anyone else?-

Yeonjun? Not nice?

It took him a few seconds realize that they were kidding.

And at thet point his mouth took up a perfect O shape.

-Oh.-

Yeonjun tried to stop himself, but couldn't help, and burst into a fit of giggles.

-You should have seen your face.- he stated.

-Shut up.- Soobin chuckled, blushing.

-So?- Yeonjun's mother asked again.

Soobin shrugged.

-Taht choi Beomgyu who is my table neighbour seems really nice.- he said.

-And?-

-And?- the boy reapeted rising his eyebrows.

-Anybody else?- Yeonjun's father asked.

-Oh... Yeah, that girl on the other table doesn't seem so bad. But she is too silent and she didn't talk to anyone during the whole day.-

-So you met two people?- the woman asked, and Soobin stiffened.

She would have scolded him becuase he hadn't made enough friends?

-Yeah.- he only answered.

-But that's saur good! A great start! I'm proud of you!- yeonjun's father said standing up and patting his shoulder.

For a moment, the time stopped for Soobin and he didn't know what to do at all, but then he found himself smiling.

He wasn't sure, but maybe he was what people call happy. Relaxed.

-Thak you.-

Soobin really had a grat day.

He hadn't had any math check, just for starting, and that was definitely a nice thing.

Then he talked a bit with that King of Chaos, and before leaving, while tiding up his books, he asked to that silent girl for her name.

Jung Haneul.

She seemed a little surprised when he had talked to her again, but not displeased.

Before going to bed, Soobin decided to study a bit of History, since he wasn't sleepy. Being honest, he wasn't sleepy at all.

But when, hours later, he finally got to bed, he thought tha he was going to have a good sleep, since he hadn't felt so lighehearted for months, maybe even years.

Nothing could be more wrong.

He was running

Faster and faster.

As fastter as he could.

But it wasn't enough, he knew.

The fire was chasing him, and was every step closer, every second closer.

He looked back for a moment, whilehe keep to run.

Closer.

He could feel the heat burning his skin, his hair, his eyes, and entring in his chest.

Killing him.

He tried to go faster, but slepped, 'cuase the ground was wet.

And every step he tried to go on, he was two steps back.

And the fire was reaching him.

Was swallowing him.

Was burning.

And he couldn't feel anything but pain.

Soobin suddenly woke up, his breath so quick that he had difficult breathing. It took him at least ten minutes to calm down completely and then he couldn't fall asleep anyway.

So, since his phone was showing that it was a quarter to five in the morning, too soon to stand up and get ready for school, in the end he found nothing to do but silently go in the kitchen and drink some wather before going back to bedwith a book about flowers that he had found in the shelves in the dining room.

It was a lot of time since he had his last nightmare, and, being honest, he hadn't miss them at all.

As if it wouldn't be enough, at five o' clock in the morning it started to rain and he started to panic again.

There was only one thing that he hated about himself: being so fuckin' weak.

And he found nothing to do but put on his headphones and listen to music while hoping that the rain would stop before he had to go to school.
