Chapter 4
It had taken Soobin something like ten days o understand that, no matter if they were wird, alien, incomprehensible or whatever else, they wouldn't mistreat him in any way and for any reason.
Everytime that he was afraid that they would scold him for some reason, , they seemed dismayed and always exganged a lot of looks, as if they were wondering what was wrong with him.
And Soobin was still waiting.
Waiting for them to tell him that they had enough of him, that they were sending him back where he came from.
Or maybe they wouldn't even tell him.
Maybe one day the would just have sent him out of that door, out of that gate.
I was Saturday in the morning, early morning, like at seven, when someone softly knocked at Soobin's bedroom door.
Soobin had already been awake, for at leas an hour already, and, since it was too soon for breakfast and everybody was still asleep, was reading a book that he had found in the library of the town.
-Soobin? Are you awake?-
Yeah, right.
Everybody should have been asleep.
But, evidently, yeonjun wasn't.
-Yeah, I am.- he answered setting aside the book and sitting on the edge of the bed.
-Can I come in?-
-Oh...
-Yeah, sure. C'mon. It's open.- Soobin said rubbing his eyes.
Yeonjun slowly and silently opened the door and hesitantly walked in.
He was wearing his usual sweatershirt and hi usual jeans and was barefoot.
-Can I sit?- he asked.
Soobin nodded, as he moved towards the pillow to give him space.
-Of course.- he almost wispered.
It was still too silent and speak out loud felt wrong.
Yeonjun sit on the bed and started torture his hands, evidently hesitant.
-Can we... talk?- he asked in a low voice too.
Soobin felt his heart sinking somewhere where he couldn't bring it back.
He didn't like to talk.
'Cause when someone told him "can we talk?" it meant that they where going to talk and that he was going to listend and swallow all the shit that they were going to say about him.
And, usually, after have talked, in a few days, thay aways have sent him away.
So, obviously, he didn't like to talk.
And then why was yeonjun the one who wanted to talk to him?
Why not his parents?
And why so soon in the morning?
Nothing of this made any sense.
The boy near him was still waiting while looking at himwith a worried expression and Soobin realized he had been silent for too long.
So he slowly nodded while rubbing his sweatershirt.
-Of course.-
Yeonjun took a deep breath.
-Why are you always so afraid?- he asked then.
It took Soobin a few seconds process what have been told him.
Then he blinked.
-Afraid?- he repeated.
Yeonjun nodded, while keeping playing with his own fingers.
-Yeah.
-Since when I opend that door for you, every day, every hour, every minute and every second, you're afraid.
-I can see it, so don't you tell me that you aren't.
-That day you told me something. You were surpised for the bedroom and for the welcome. You told me that you hadn't expected anything of this.- he said pointing at the rrom with a wave.
-I don't wanna talk about this.- Soobin whisperd curling up on himself.
-You already told something like this then.
-It's like...
-Tell me, no one ever did something like this for you?- Yeonjun asked, evidently impatient but also a little hesitant.
-Nope.-
Soobin really tried to loud his voice, but he couldn't hepl. He only managed to whisper.
Yeonjun seemed hurt, but Soobin didn't notice, 'cause he was looking at his own hands as if they were the most intersting thing in the whole wide world.
-I'm sorry.- the older said, even if he knew that it wouldn't have meant anything.
-It's okay.-
-No, it's not.-
There was a moment of silence.
-Oh.- Soobin said then, stopping torturing his hands and looking at nothing in particular in front of him as if he had seen something incredible.
-What?-
The boy shook his head and rubbed his eyes.
-Nothing.-
There was another moment of silence, and then Yeonjun softly sighed, looking at the other guy.
-Soobin?-
-Yeah?-
-Do you know that no one in this house will ever hurt you?
-And that if we do, we of course don't do it on purpose and that you have to tell us, so that we won't do this again?-
Soobin didn't answer, keeping his eyes on his own feet.
-Soobin.-
-Yeah.-
-Did you understand what I said?-
-Yeah.-
The younger boy didn't seem convinced at all, so Yeonjun got closer to him and put a hand on his shoulder.
-Look at me, please.-
Soobin glanced a him, biting his bottomm lip due to anxiety.
-I'm serious.
-Nobody here will ever hurt you. Not me. Not my mum. Non my dad. None of us. I could swear on my life.
-You don't need to be afraid.-
The otehr one felt that he was about to cry, but held back every tear, 'cause cry like a baby on front of Yeonjun wasn't exacly goal of the day.
-Are you sure?- he asked.
-Yeah, i am.-
-You won't send me away, will you?-
-Why should we?- Yeonjun aske, upset.
Soobin couldn't hepl but sniffed, feeling really stupid.
-I don't know. Until now, everyone has done it.-
-Becuase they are as stupid as hell, I'm sure. I would eat their butts if only I could.-
And the other boy couldn't help but found himself smiling.
-You ar something for real for real.- he chuckled. -How can your mum say that you're not nice?-
-She can, 'cause now imma eat you ass too, for you being so stupid to think that we could hurt you.- Yeonjun said standing up and smiling too.
-Do it. My ass tastes really good. Particulary if you rost it with rosemary.- Soobin said following him out of the room.
-I can believe it.
-But mine tastes better.-
-So hurry up, or I'll eat it for breackfast.-
They did a mess with the kitchen while trying to cook something decent and were about to burn up the house when, for their luck, Yeonjun's mum entred and pointed at them with a teethbrush.
-You two gays! What the heck are you doing?!- she yelled.
-Go and sit at the table, incapables!-
-I'm sorry, dear mum, but Soobin and I were bout to go out... and...- yeonjun tried to escape.
-Bullshits.- his mother shut up him. -You were about to blow up the house, not anything else.-
So they were forced to eat breackfast at home; but then, since yeonjun insisted, they got out.
-I wanna show you the town, since you and your lazy tasty ass don't know a steet but the one to school.
-And then I wanna introduce you to my girlfriend.-
Duh duh duh...
Unexpcted?
Anyway, in the end, I prefer to write when I don't have the phone, I don't know why. Maybe because every time that I have it I finish studying on Wikipedia or reading on Wattpad.
