Chapter 2 // Breaking
The quarter moon had passed and so far the two rogues haven't caused any trouble. Rainkit decided that she was just imagining things and let it go, since no one would believe her anyway.
"Let all cats old enough to catch their own fresh-kill gather beneath the tallroot for a clan meeting!" Gracestar yowled, her voice echoing throughout camp.
Once the clan had gathered, Gracestar summend Harley and Kassidy forward with a flick of her tail.
"The quarter moon has past. Do you still wish to be warriors of Spiritclan?" Gracestar asked.
"We do." Harley mewed.
"Then so it shall be. Harley, step forward. From this day forward, until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Dapplepaw. Suncrest, you are ready for an apprentice. You will mentor Dapplepaw. I expect you'll pass down you cleverness and courage to this young apprentice. "
Dapplepaw dipped his head.
Somecat whispered, "Go touch noses with him!"
Dapplepaw ducked in embarrassment and walked over to Suncrest and touched noses.
"Kassidy, step forward." Gracestar commanded.
Kassidy did as Gracestar said.
"From this day on, you will be known as Hopepaw. Aspencloud, You will mentor Hopepaw. I expect you'll pass down your battle skills and honesty to this young apprentice. "
Aspencloud looked stunned, but nodded and touched noses with Hopepaw.
The clan cheered out the new apprentices names.
"Dapplepaw!"
"Hopepaw!"
After the ceremony, Rainkit crept into the nursery, only to be shoved back out.
"Don't you dare come in here all innocent!" Lucidhope hissed.
Rainkit flattened her ears. "W-What?!" She mewed, confused.
Lucidhope growled. "You know what you did!" She snapped and ducked back into the den. "You can sleep outside tonight!"
Rainkits could here hushed laughter inside. She knew good and well that Waspkit and his friends did something, but, she didn't argue and laid in the clearing, shivering from the cold. "Why do they hate me? What did I ever do to deserve this?" She whispered to herself.
Fury and loneliness blazed inside her. She stood up and tore out of camp, not knowing where she was going. All she knew was that she wanted to get away.
Rainkit let out a yelp of pain as she tripped and fell into a tangle of thorns.
She screeched as they dug into her pelt, sharp as claws.
Sobs wrenched her tiny body. Rainkit pulled herself out, some thorns still stuck to her.
Unable to stand any longer, Rainkit fell to the earth, tears drenching the dirt underneath.
She felt a cat touch her shoulder, and jerked up.
The cat chuckled. "Calm down. Its ok."
Rainkit backed away. So many emotions filled her, making it hard to talk.
Another tall cat stepped out from behind the first. The cat curled around Rainkit. She felt the cat stroke her back with her tail.
"Now, Now dear kit. Don't be scared." The first cat mewed. He stepped out onto the moonlight, causing Rainkit to be able to identify him. "Dapplepaw!" She turned to the shecat beside her. "And Hopepaw!"
Dapplepaw chuckled."We prefer our real names."He smirked.
"But-"
"No 'buts' about it. That is what you call us. Not around the others though."
Kassidy stood up and walked to Harleys side.
"What are you doing out here?!" Rainkit asked.
"None of your business, just like it's none of our business why your out here. You'd better get back to camp." Harley meowed.
Rainkit nodded and turned to leave.
"Wait." Harley mewed.
Rainkit turned back around.
"Meet us back here at moon high tomorrow. " He commanded.
"O-Ok." Rainkit agreed and ran back to camp.
I wonder why they wanted to see me tomorrow. Maybe they have something special for me! She thought. Maybe they'll even teach me how to fight! Then I could beat Waspkit any day! I can't wait!
I know it's short. I know. I'm sorry. Lol. May Starclan light your path.
