A summer storm.
Waves crashed upon the shore,
Relentlessly, trying to pull it away.
Tree branches whipped in the wind,
Leaves scuttled across the ground.
Black clouds billowed, and puffed.
Lightening streaking across the sky.
Yet my mothers calm voice,
"It's just a summer storm."
Just a storm where we,
The scared ones,
Hide from it all.
As the ground is tattered
By the storms infinite rage.
Water pelts the windows,
And shudders unhinge.
The repeating cries and whispers.
The rain pelting the house.
Yet my mothers calm voice,
"It's just a summer storm."
With a mighty blow
The storm dies out.
Waves, and wind retreat.
The fear is gone,
And we all see
That the world
Is still as it is.
I walk outside,
And look around
As I whisper,
"It's just a summer storm."
