I have a friend who's dad died a few years ago. She still kinda gets sad about it.

Here's why I'm saying this:

Teacher: *friend*, do you have your social studies note book?

Friend: *shakes head* I forgot it again.

Teacher: okay. I'm going to call your parents so they'll remind you. Who do you want me to call?

Friend: *looks at me*

Me: oh crap...

Teacher: I'm just going to call your mom and dad. What's their numbers?

Friend: you can't call my dad...

Teacher: why not?

Friend: he's... dead...

Teacher: oh, do you not have a step father?

Friend: *shakes head*

Teacher: oh, I'm sorry. *moves on with the lesson*
