Ever since you met the irritating male, Ransom Drysdale, your life has never been the same. You knew about his riches and wealth, but made it clear to him that his wits was what had won you over. You haven't stepped into the commitment of calling it official between you two, but that was what made the experience more exciting. You knew that you had something with Ransom, and he wanted to pursue it.
On the other hand, you thought it would be a little fun to play with his mind. Ransom didn't care though, mind games from you was something he thoroughly enjoyed. He invited you to join him for a family dinner at home, and if that didn't say he wanted to get serious, you didn't know what did. You've met his family before, and right away, you weren't a fan. They constantly acted as if everything was an interview.
You understood that they wanted to get to know you, but their approach toward you seemed more scary than welcoming. Ransom wanted to try again and that was why he gave you the invitation to the dinner. There was going to be food, so of course you were going to attend. Ransom was going to try to make it obvious that there was something sparking between you two, but you still wanted to continue with the denial of everything.
"This dinner is delicious," you compliment, shoving another spoonful of mashed potatoes into your mouth. "I need this recipe."
Ransom picked up his napkin and began dabbing the little pieces of mashed potatoes that dribbled out of your mouth.
"You're such a pig Julia," ransom affirmed with a head shake. Everyone around the table exchanged glances with each other in confusion. You sharply pull away from Ransom, knowing what he was doing. "come on, let me clean the rest of it for you."
"I can do it myself," you claim, picking up your napkin. "I'm perfectly capable of wiping my own face."
"They even fight like a married couple," megan whispered to her mother across from her. Although she thought she was quiet, everybody around the table was able to hear her. "I'm claiming it, Julia and the asshole are dating."
"I have a name you know," ransom corrected, shooting his clear blue eyes at the teenager. "and what if we did?"
"We aren't," you respond strictly. "not in a million years sweetie."
Ransom popped his eyebrows up and down, and dragged out the word "Wow" in response, shifting his eyes over to you. You bite back a smile that was urging its way out. It was always hard to ignore his handsomeness. Scoffs of disbelief sounded off from all around the table.
"Bullshit," called out one of his family members. You knew that Ransom had a potty mouth, and now you knew exactly where he picked it up. "I admit, you two would make a pretty cute couple."
"You hear that Julia?" ransom asked, his pitch in his voice raising as if he was talking to a child. "They think we would make a cute couple," he teased playfully, making it harder for you to refrain your laughter. "I say we make it happen."
"I say that—"
Ransom didn't wait another second and swooped in, striking you with an unexpected kiss. You were going to pull away but instead found your eyes slowly drifting closed as he deepened the sweet kiss. His lips tasted delicious.
"We're trying to eat over here!"
Ransom sharply pulled away and licked his lips flirtatiously, staring deep into your eyes. He smirked flirtatiously. You exhale deeply.
"I hate you."
