2018

A/N: As usual, my New Year chapter has come like weeks after the actual day but oh well. Also, I want to do like an advice chapter thingy so if anyone has any problems that they'd like to share anonymously or if you just generally need advice on something, PM me before February 14th and I'll include your advice in the new chapter (you can PM any other time past the deadline, I'll probably still answer you but it won't be in the book, it'll be like between you and me (: )

Anyway, happy new year everyone! Last year, I wasn't as active on my rant book and not going to lie, I have my GCSEs so I'm not about to pretend that I'm going to post new stuff regularly but I would definitely like to.

Today was my birthday and also the last day of January so I finally pushed myself to stop procrastinating and just post this.

THINGS WE NEED TO LEAVE IN 2017:

1. Defending celebrities that have been repeatedly problematic. I mean okay, if you stan someone who has made a mistake once or twice but apologised and truly developed after this such as Emma Watson then it's okay to defend her from people slamming her for her previous actions. However, if you stan someone like Lena Dunham then no matter how much you love them, I need you stay mute when they are being dragged for their ignorance — they deserve it.

2. Starting a fight in the comment section when that argument has literally been done ten thousand times. (e.g: going onto my chapter on racism and talking about how you believe in reverse racism in the western world. I don't want to discourage people from voicing their own views but... sis, this has been argued a million times, scroll up and you will literally see someone else raising that same point and getting the same answer that I'm going to give you).

3. Wasting natural hair products on YouTube, this actually isn't a problem — it's just really personal for me as a broke asf teenage girl. You haven't known true heartbreak until you have to go through seven excruciating moments of pain as you watch a natural hair YouTuber use half the jar of leave in conditioner when you know damn well that they did not need to use that much — so much wastage 😭😫

4. President Buhari (in fact just throw away the whole Nigerian government 🙄)

5. Glorifying dark skin girls when they are on instagram covered in oil and writhing around in nothing but then in everyday life, shaming  and excluding them. Let's just end colorism.

6. Let's leave reliance on your family/school/community or whatever to determine your future. There are so many opportunities out there no matter what you want to do with your life, don't miss these opportunities because you think that your race, your gender, your religion, your sexuality, etc will limit your chances.

7. Toxic friends/significant others like if someone isn't a positive addition to your life, cut them off (easier said than done but like if someone only brings in negativity why are you still hanging out with them)

8. Nicki Minaj, still very pressed that 3 years has gone by and... I'm still yet to see the new album like honestly

A/N: I can't think of anymore so drop all the other things we left in 2017 in the comments.

QOTD: who are your favourite artists?
