Being Alone is Not The Same as Being Lonely
"For the love of god, clean your fucking room!" The woman screamed at the girl who just rolled her eyes in response. She had heard this sentence for 5 years, it didn't even affect her anymore. The woman shoved the girl towards the floor
"Look at this mess! Your hair is fucking everywhere" She screamed at the girls face. The girl scoffed before blindly feeling around the floor.
"Eagle eyes" She mumbled but the woman had heard her.
"It's not my fault you need to get your eyes checked" The woman snapped, It was indeed the woman's fault as she was her mother and the girl had told her before numerous times before that her left eye was getting weaker but the woman just waved her concerns away saying it would 'get better if you keep your eyes off your damn phone for one second!' .
Once an eye gets weaker, It cannot become stronger again, but it can get weaker again, and it has been, at this point, the girl could not see further than 3 feet from her left eye. Her right eye worked fine though, so there was an imbalance in her vision. She had the money to buy glasses but she was just so shy that she could never get a word out whenever she went to the optician.
"When I get back this mess better be sorted!" The woman growled before leaving the room. "And don't you dare close the door!"
The girl scoffed, "it's not like I can lock it...." She mumbled still feeling for fallen hair strands.
Once she was done, she collapsed onto her bed, hoping to fall asleep. But luck was not on her side because as soon she closed her eyes, her mother called her for dinner.
The girl groaned and reluctantly got up. She walked at a snail's pace towards the kitchen where her mother was waiting for her. Slowly she sat at in the crappy plastic chair that was going to collapse at any moment. She eyed her mother who just smiled warmly before eating her chicken. The girl slowly ate which annoyed her mother.
"Hurry up" She snapped before smiling warmly again. "I have to do the dishes and would prefer to do them all at once please"
"I can wash my own plate then" The girl retorted, The woman glared at her daughter and stood up.
"Fine then, be that way you ungrateful brat!" With that she dumped her plate and started doing the dishes.
The girl scoffed before continuing to eat. Once she was done she put the plate in the sink and started to clean it before her mother stopped her.
"I'll do it sweatie" The woman said kindy, the girl raised her eyebrow.
I swear she's bipolar, The girl thought sighing before she went to the bathroom. Once she was sure that she had locked the door, she spit the food she had in her mouth down the toilet and flushed. She brushed her teeth to get rid of any remaining chicken pieces. I hate dinner She thought bitterly before opening the bathroom door and entering her bedroom, She closed her door and collapsed on her chair and picked up her phone. She picked up her earphones and plugged them in, before tapping on a random song. She put the volume all the way up and closed her eyes.
She was shaken awake by her father who was talking to her. Judging by his facial expression, he was probably scolding her for 'slacking off' again. Not interested in what he had to say in the slightest she started humming in tune with the song and made sure it was loud enough for him to hear. The man looked absolutely done with his daughter's shit and left the room which caused the girl to smile in victory. She opened her laptop which was placed precariously at the edge of the desk and immediately went to youtube to find some laughter in her life.
A few hours later, her mother entered the room and made a motion with her hand. The girl internally rolled her eyes and took her earphones off.
"Get dressed properly, we're going out to eat" Her mother stated calmly. The girl groaned very loudly.
"Do I have to? I rather stay home thanks" The girl retorted, she hate going outside with a burning passion.
The woman was absolutely done with her child's behavior. "Five minutes" she threatened before leaving the room in a similar fashion as her husband.
The girl quickly jumped up and started to get ready, she knew what her mother was like when angry, and she did not want to deal with that monstrosity today. Brushed her hair, sprayed in some deodorant and changed out of her school clothes that she had been wearing for the entire day. What can she say? She's a lazy oaf and master procrastinator as evident with her rapidly declining grades. Once her mother came back, the ranting began.
"Spray some more deodorant, you smell like a pig!"
"Are you actually wearing that?"
"Brush your hair properly! And tie it into a ponytail, we don't want your hair falling everywhere!"
"Stop wearing the same pair of jeans! Do you know how many times I have to cleans that one pair?"
"Ugh, why do you even have long hair?! You could style in so many different ways yet you just go with the boring straightened hair!"
The girl tuned her out while she continued to get ready. Eventually she was done and turned to face her mother's disappointed face. The girl dragged her hand across her face.
"If you're that disappointed in me, why did you stop trying to abort me?" She snapped. The woman's face fell and she looked guilty for a few moments before it replaced with an expression of pure rage.
"How dare you bring that up!" She screamed. The girl scoffed, body tense in case her mother turned to physical action. It wasn't that rare.
This piece of information always struck a cord in her mother. Ever since that one day in Hardees, they were visiting her brothers in another country. Honestly her parents were just worried about their youngest son, The second youngest in the family, after his friends called her oldest brother in a panic explaining that he had been having depressed thoughts because he was homesick.
Of course when they visited him, they lied and said they just came to see all of them just like old times. He was currently working and they were waiting for him to come back to his apartment. Her two oldest brothers were with her when her mother casually explained the family life before she was born,
According to her mother, her brothers were always well behaved and didn't give the woman much trouble when she was raisins them....unlike her. It didn't mean to slip out but the woman expressed that the girl was quite a surprise and she tried everything to get rid of her. When asked about it, the girl would wave them off and joke about how she was "glad to know I'm not wanted" but deep down the girl knew she wasn't wanted. She didn't really care, she already had a feeling she was a intruder in the family, This just proved it.
The woman was fuming, She raised her hand and delivered a hard slap on the girls cheek. The girl stood stock still, barely flinching when the skin made contact. She raised an eyebrow, surprised that she only got a slap. The huffed before stomping out of the room, slamming the door shut. The girl smiled in victory, before picking up her earphones and phone. She would never go outside without these two. She turned towards the door only to spot her father blocking it. The man sighed.
"You can stay home, your mother needs a break from you and you obviously want to be left alone"
The girl nodded and with that the man left. After she heard the door shut (More like slam shut) She grinned running towards it and locked it. She immediately put YouTube on the TV and put some random songs on repeat, dancing horribly and singing off-key.
After a few minutes, the girl's stomach rumbled. 'Do we even have any food?' She thought. Still bobbing her head to the ear deafening music (She would later get a noise complaint from the neighbors downstairs), the girl rummaged around the kitchen looking for snacks. She spotted some Oreos and grinned.
"Score!" She screamed and laughed. 'Here comes the talking to myself part of being alone'
She picked up 2 packets and opens them, not giving a shit about crumbs and ate them like a an animal. After she was done, she sung everything she was holding back from her parents
"I'm an atheist, don't give two shits about religion! Im Asexuel so you can forget about me getting a guy! Oh oh oh oh! I might be trans, don't know yet. Could be bigender for all the knoooooow! Never really liked you two! Sure I sound like a fucking brat but I-D-G-A-F! Oh oh oh oh oh! Im sarcastic and sassy! Princess? Pfft more like ROACH! Woah yeah!' She sang with the biggest grin on her face.
She jumped from couch to couch, twirling around. She jumped on top of the table and strated doing some random dance moves. She laughed at her own horrible puns or innuendos. She ran through her parents bedroom. Going through every drawer her mother didn't allow her to go through. Deleting all the emails from her school on her mothers email. She waa free.
Soon, her parents came back to see the house spotless and their daughter asleep. They looked at each other and sighed, retreating for the night in their rooms. Once all the lights were closed, one lone light shone from the girls room. It dimmed a bit when the girl decreased the brightness on her phone. She chuckled and whispered to herself,
"I'm never having kids"
