Mirrors.

Mirrors reflect who you are,

Hide nothing,

Leave you defenseless,

Show all your scars,

All your insecurities,

All the hopes and dreams that never truly happened,

They let loose all your fears,

All your deepest emotions,

And leave nothing hidden.

Mirrors, 

Though painful,

Are a motivation,

A true reflection,

One that tells you that hiding isn't worth it,

That you may not feel like you are enough,

But you are whole enough,

Mirrors,

Reflections,

They are truly scary.

Worse than mirrors,

Are the murmurs,

And half truths,

The comparisons,

Of individual souls,

Individual beings,

To each other.

Those words spoken,

Enhance the lies that one thinks inside their heads,

And makes their reflection hurt,

Though it really shouldn't.

Treating two different beings alike,

Can shatter each of their self images,

Kill the motivation in their heads,

Make them insecure about themselves,

Until they all start competing,

Wanting to be the one that all others are compared to,

Wanting be whole.

Wanting to be new.

Wanting to feel like they're worth everything.

Wanting all the folds and scars and marks,

To be considered normal.

Wanting that version of themselves and the real one to be different,

But knowing that hiding isn't really an option,

So pretending becomes the next best thing.

Pretending,

To be someone,

Something,

That they're not.

Comparisons can kill,

It isn't by mere will,

But if you were to be treated ill,

Because of all the persons held still,

Up on pedestals,

Creating the image that seems the right one for all,

The one that everyone wants,

With every taunt,

You would lose parts of you too.

~~~

Your reflection,

That's you.

Who you are.

Who you can make yourself into,

That's up to you,

But to be confident within your own skin,

That's a super power,

One that comes from self acceptance,

The hardest trait to muster,

But once you master it,

You will love you for you,

Not for what others compare you to.

Not hate you,

For what others think,

For who others want you to be.

You will just be,

You.

.SELF-ACCEPTANCE IS A SUPER POWER.

Your reflection may not show who you truly are, and yes that can be altered. But always know, that the real you, the person you truly are, isn't based off of how you look. It's more on how you see yourself, how you treat others, how you react, speak, walk, think. You are a combination of everything that makes you, you. Trust in yourself, treat you right and you will have the ground layer for being a strong, good person. Others will see you, for who you are. If they don't, that's not important. Know you. Be you.
