Chapter Seven: With Walus

Edwin and Miss Caroline hired a hover cab back to the office. The lateness of the hour there was research to conduct and eventually a dorm to try and search. Miss Caroline quietly put the evidence into a digital file and sent it to Walus. Edwin silently when over the existing facts in his mind before thinking over what they should be following next. It was clear they would need to find Olivia and any other eye witnesses to the location of Kid. Of course, they could call the family of the missing. There was a lot to beginning playing with. Edwin leaned to the armrest of the hover cab. It zipped and zoomed all over the place as it came over to the skyline. It arrived back to the main office.

Edwin and Miss Caroline hopped off and came back to the office. The doorman bot greeted them with a chipper waved and allowed them to pass straight in. The Knight Detective Office were usually opened late into the night. After all Walus could really burn the midnight oil. Edwin cut off a yawn as they came to the office door. Miss Caroline meekly smiled at Edwin and opened the door for him. The lights were still on and Walus was at his desk reviewing the information. Miss Caroline slipped back over to the front desk as Edwin went back to meet with his brother.

Walus moved through the newly formed Breathless case. He looked over at Edwin and pointed to the case file, "You decided to take it on the case."

"She seemed like she needed help."

"You didn't even discuss the fees we usually charge."

"Now Walus-"

"It is fine," Walus held up his hand dismissed the screen. His eyes skimmed around the room as he leaned against the desk, "Edwin, you did what you thought was best. I am sure you will not need any one of my services on this time. I have been speaking with Louis. We are going to take a holiday over in the Bay Area. I am very sure that Miss Caroline will be fine with aiding you."

"The woman clearly wanted you to help solve this missing person case," Edwin smiled at his brother, "We usual take on the stranger ones together."

Walus got up from his chair and pushed it in. He went over to the door, "You can handle such a small case. Besides look at me right now, Edwin. I have one good arm and I feel like shit."

"When have you ever walked away from a mystery? You are being so odd right now. Walus, is there something you are not telling me?" Edwin quickly turned to Walus.

"You are a detective. I just told you the facts, brother of mine! I need a holiday! I am leaving you in charge of everything. The very capable Miss Caroline will see you well and taken care of! I will be leaving and I will return in two weeks!" Walus raised his voice and grabbed the door. He left in a huff from all of the office.

Edwin sighed as he went back out to Miss Caroline. He shook his head, "Walus. . ."

"What was that all about?" Miss Caroline said.

"Things did not go well back in Montreal," Edwin shortly remarked, "I did not think Walus would be holding it against me this whole time."

"He should be pleased with himself. You two just solved a case and now you have another one waiting. But he is all in a huff and acting like a spoiled prince."

"Let's just leave him alone for now. He has been like this since he got injured," Edwin shook his head again as he went to turn off the office light. He returned to Miss Caroline, "If he will not be joining us for the case, then we can manage without him."

"Hmm. . ." Edwin closed his eyes, "Based on the report we have started. We can confirm what Miss Breathless has stated. Then we can start have leads. We should check the police station and this so-called protest event."

"I will start dealing with the research behind the protest to confirm Miss Breathless's account. I think the police station will be hard to deal with at this late for the hour. We can ask Yankiee, if he will do us a favor this time," Miss Caroline popped over to her phone and pulled out a list of names. She peered up at Edwin, "We can pull it off before the end of the night, right Edwin?"

"It will be a good place to start. I doubt we will be able to solve it all at once," Edwin waved his hand, "We will need access to the hall of records at the University. Miss Breathless pointed out the dorm was closed. I want to confirm it in the records and then on the ground."

"In the morning, we can start to interview other students in the area about the where about of Olivia and the last seen place of Kid," Edwin nodded.

"I will get on it then," Miss Caroline started to dial on and waited.
