Long Live the Queen
The following poem is an entry into the Ever After Mad March contest on the @_Once_Upon profile. It's obviously, about our very own Red Queen and the journey she's taking in this story. I hope you enjoy it. Alice will be returning very soon.
When the mirror's face
Brings you tears
When reflections are
Your ultimate fears
When your twin is all
You don't want to be
But, in they world around you,
She's all that they see
When your every word
Falls against stone
And loneliness is
All you've ever known
An asylum becomes
Your only home.
Amongst the mad
And with the fools
You find yourself
As you break the rules
And a journey of wonder
Into a land confused
Makes you doubt your life
And discover the truth
Though you help all those
Who have nowhere to turn
And you do so only
For a friend you yearn
And the final act
Will leave your soul dead
The words leave your lips
"Off with their head!"
From a sibling who
Is lost to despair
To a queen whose heart
Is laid open and bare
History forgets
That you fought for what's right
And, in doing so,
You were taken by the night
But as your story unfolds
The truth will be seen
And forgiven will be
Alice's Red Queen
Edit:
I'm so pleased (and I meant to come back and say this ages ago), but Long Live the Queen won the Mar March contest! Whoop! I'd like to say a massive THANK YOU to the amazing _once_upon profile!
