Brittany runs to the drama room to get there before the guys. When she gets there, she sees Luke standing by the door. "Well you're early," he replies sarcastically.
"Why are you standing outside the room?" Brittany asks while catching her breath.
"Waiting for the guys. Why did you run here?"
"I tried to get here before all of you guys. Apparently…." She is still trying to catch her breath. "I didn't get here before you guys. Water please!" Luke grabs his water out of his backpack and hands it to Brittany. She snatches it out of his hands and guzzles it down. She hands Luke back his empty water bottle.
"Damn Brit. I guess you are really thirsty."
"Yeah. And out of breath, but that's actually not the point anymore. I need to tell you something and you need to promise that you won't tell anyone!"
"I won't. I promise." She grabs Luke's wrist and drags him into the auditorium. They go to the back corner of the room and sit down.
"Bobby tried to kiss me at lunch."
"Wait what?!" The students that are in the room turn and look at the two of them. "Please tell me you're kidding?"
"No. I'm not. Why?"
"I heard that the substitute is going to do the auditions for the school play and that she's going to make the people who want the Sandy and Danny rolls kiss."
"What?!" Everyone looks back at the two of them and gives them dirty looks. Just then, the auditorium doors swing open. Reggie, Alex and Bobby walk through them and see their friends on the floor.
"What are you two doing on the floor?" Reggie asks as he offers a hand out to help the two of them up.
"We were just talking," Luke replies. The bell rings and the five of them sit down.
"Alright," the substitute exclaims. "I am your teacher's daughter, Mrs. Lavena. I am going to be teaching this class for the rest of the week, at the minimum."
Brittany raises her hand and asks, "How is your mom doing? I'm just curious."
"Honestly, she's not doing good. I just hope things will get better. On a side note, she left me to do the auditions and to pick the cast. First, I'm gonna take roll."
"Hey Reg," Brittany says. "We need to talk."
"Okay," Reggie says as he follows her to the back of the auditorium. "What's up?"
"We just haven't talked one on one in a while. Also… don't get all mad or anything but…. Bobby tried to kiss me at lunch."
"He what?"
"Don't get mad please." She grabs his arm and puts her other hand on his face. She rubs his cheek and moves her other hand to his face. "Please don't get mad. I love you, not him. And he is just a jackass that needs to burn in hell." Reggie laughs and wraps his arms around her hips.
"I love you too." He pulls her closer to his chest and kisses her. "We should get back to our seats. And thank you for telling me babe."
"You're welcome." They walk down the row their friends are in and sit down in their seats.
"Okay," Mrs. Lavena says. "The first thing we are doing is the auditions for Sandy and Danny. Will the ones who want to play as Sandy stand on my left and the ones who want to play as Danny stand on my right." Half of the class gets up and goes to the spots. At the front of the line on the left is Brittany, and at the front of the line on the right is Reggie. "Will the first Sandy come onto the stage." Brittany walks up the stairs and in front of the substitute.
"What scene do you want me to do?" Brittany asks. "I can sing for you if you want me to."
"I want you to sing 'Hopelessly Devoted to You'. You can start whenever you're ready." Brittany takes a big deep breath in and let's it out.

Brittany stops singing and looks at the sub. "That was really good…." She looks at the roll sheet and back up at Brittany. "Brittany Mercer. I'm going to get through the others, but. I think you are a definite choice."
"Thank you," Brittany says. She walks off the stage and goes to sit next to Alex.
"Why do you want to be Sandy anyways?" Alex asks her.
"I just do Alex."

…

After  all of the auditions, Mrs. Lavena goes into the classroom that is connected to the auditorium. "I am so scared to see if I get Sandy," Brittany exclaims. "I hope I do."
"I'm sure you will babe," Reggie says.
"Thanks Reg. And I hope you get Danny. I don't want anyone else playing him." She kisses his cheek and grabs his hand.
"Alright," Mrs. Lavena says, coming back to the class. "Will the following students come on stage. Savannah White, Bobby Wilson, Reggie Peters, and Brittany Mercer." The four of them stand up and walk onto the stage. "You four are the ones that showed the most potential in playing the role you want to play."
"Thank you so much for picking us," Savannah exclaims. "So, who is going to be Sandy?"
"To decide my final choice, I'm gonna have you guys sing 'You're the one That I Want' and I'll decide from there. So get ready and prepare yourselves." The music starts playing and they sing.

The substitute motions her hand to her neck, telling the person to cut the track. "I have seen enough to make up my decision," she replies. "I'm sorry Savannah, you didn't get the part."
"That's okay," she replies. "Brittany definitely deserves the part."
"Congratulations babe!" Reggie exclaims.
"Thank you Mrs. Lavena," Brittany pleads. "You won't regret it. I promise."
"You're welcome. And I hope not. Now just to decide between you two. Mr. Peters, please stand next to her." Reggie moves to Brittany, but Mrs. Lavena already regrets it. "You!" She points at Bobby. "Stand next to the blonde." Bobby moves closer to Brittany as requested. "Would you guys be comfortable doing the beach scene?"
"Um…." Brittany exclaims. "I'm okay with that. It's just been so long since I have seen the movie-"
"You watched it last night before going to bed," Alex says from the audience. "You forced me to watch it with you. You watch it practically every day!"
"Thanks for reminding me Alex! Um, yeah. Let's do it."
"Good," Mrs. Lavena exclaims. "I want to do the kiss part as well so get ready for that."
'The kissing scene!' Brittany exclaims to herself. 'I am not going to do the kissing scene with him! No way that is happening. Never gonna happen!'
"Let me know when you two are ready."
"I'm ready," Bobby says. Brittany shoots him a dirty look and exhales.
"Me too," She replies.
"Okay good. You two can begin when you are ready."

*the kissing scene*

"I'm going back to Australia. I'm afraid I'm never gonna see you again."
"Don't…. Don't talk like that Sandy."
"But it's true. I just had the best summer of my life and now I have to go away. It isn't fair."
Grabs her cheek and kisses her

Brittany pulls out of the kiss and runs off stage. Reggie hops off the stage and follows her outside the auditorium. "What's wrong Brit?" He asks her.
"I can't do this Reg," she tells him. Tears are rolling down her cheeks. "I can't be with you when I think I like someone else. I do still love you, but I just can't do it anymore."
"So you want to break up?"
"I don't know Reg! I mean after the dream and that-"
"What dream?"
"Last night, when we all went home, and Bobby took Alex and I home, he carried me into my room and just stayed in there for a while. I felt like I could talk to him all night." Brittany smiles and her cheeks turn red.
"What does this have to do with the dream Brit?"
"I dreamed that I almost slept with him."
"Why didn't you tell me about this?"
"Because I didn't know how you were going to react! I thought you were going to break up with me or hate me for the rest of our lives! I don't want to lose you as my best friend, or my boyfriend. I love you too much to lose you."
"You just did Brittany, you just did. We're done!"
Brittany's heart sinks and she goes down to her knees. Reggie walks back into the auditorium.
"What happened Reg?" Luke asks him.
"I broke up with Brittany," he says as he sits down casually next to Alex. Luke runs outside as fast as he can. When he gets out there, Brittany isn't there. He remembers a spot the two of them go all the time. He runs past the principal's office and past their lockers, but sees her going through her locker.
"What are you doing?" He asks her. He grabs the stuff out of her hands and puts it back in her locker. Brittany sinks down to the floor and puts her head in her legs. "What's wrong?"
"What's wrong?" She repeats. She gets up off the floor and starts pacing in front of Luke. "What's wrong? Oh I don't know. It might be that I lost my boyfriend and the best friend that I have ever had!"
"I'm your best friend too Brit. You still have me."
"I know I do." She sits down beside him and lays her head on his shoulder. "I love him so much, I don't want to lose him. He was so angry after what I told him. I've never seen him that mad. I really hurt him Luke." She cries even harder and Luke rubs her back.
"It's gonna be fine. You have Alex, Savannah and I throughout all of this. I would have said Bobby, but I don't know if that would be okay."
"I guess it's okay. I just didn't ever think Reggie could be that mad."
"What did you tell him to make him that mad?"

Authors Note
Good news. I'm gonna post two chapters tomorrow. Bad news, this story is almost over. I can't believe it!! I'm actually super sad! I just hope that you all enjoy my story! The songs in this chapter are Hopelessly Devoted to You and You're The one That I Want. They are both from the musical, Grease.
