Chapter 23: The Cooking Contest!

"Yumi, wake up." A voice said while shaking my shoulders. I shook it off and moved to another side.

"Wake up, or else..." The voice started to lower. "I'll post your photo as a maid in the whole campus~"

The voice whispered into my ear as I quickly sat up and attempted to punch the person, but he grabbed my fist before it collided in his face. I glared at him.

"I thought you deleted the picture," I said in a menacing manner. "Yuuma..."

"I did." He said then smirked. "Or maybe I didn't."

I quickly grabbed the closest pillow and threw it at him as swiftly as possible, but he's much quicker as he stepped onto another side to avoid the hurling pillow. I grumbled.

"That's mean Yumi, you dare hit the person who carried you back here when you fainted?" He fake-sadden his tone of voice. I pondered for some minutes. What happened yesterday again?

The attack then infiltrated my mind. I lost... again...

"... And to make sure you won't go back to sleep, here's my morning gift." Yuuma stooped over to my level and pecked my forehead.

"YOU IDIOOOOOTTTTTTTTTT!!!" I screamed with a red face and threw everything that's close to me, but he dodged EVERYTHING of it and retreated outside the room.

"So much for a peaceful morning..." I muttered before preparing myself for school.

~Timeskip~

We were greeted once again by Hime and her friends. We are currently hanging around by the sakura tree. We were busy talking about different stuffs, until the bell rang. We sighed as we walked to our rooms. Not long, our teacher entered the room. The greetings started.

"Class," Our teacher spoke. "Today, for our cooking class, we will be holding a cooking contest. But here's the twist: since we have the same subject as the section of Diamond, we will be against them! There will be two participants in each section. For the section who'll win, they will get extra credits for the class. Now, now, who wants to volunteer?"

The class started to murmur to themselves. I only heard a few of them like, 'Do you think we'll win?' 'Kurenai-san's in the Diamond section right?' 'There's a rumor that she's good in cooking!' and a 'I heard the foods she cook ended up very spicy.'

I didn't know Akane-san cooks! I thought. I should ask Miki-chan about this.

"Hey, Miki-chan..." I whispered towards her. "Does Akane-san cook?"

"Yup!" She replied. "But I hadn't tasted her cooking. I hope I'll be able to taste hers today."

"No one wants to volunteer?" Our teacher cut our little conversation. "I'll pick. I choose... Hm... Haruki and Yuuma. Please prepare."

The two looked at each other and back to her.

"But why me?" Haruki and Yuuma asked in unison.

"I chose you because you're quite a good cook. I tasted them, and you always have something in it that surprises me. And I chose you Yuuma because I want to test your cooking skills." She explained. "Now, the thing is, the food you need to make is spicy. And we all know Kurenai-san is very good in creating those. So work hard! And you may discuss now."

They both walked to our direction and stopped in between Hime's and my desks. Yuuto and Shou also walked to our desks.

"So... Is Akane really good with spicy foods?" Yuuma asked.

"Yes..." Haruki replied. "We were classmates last year, and she cooked for everyone in class. And it turned out real good."

"Oh..." I swear I saw a ghost smirk on Yuuma's features.

What is he plotting...? Oh, right, he knows how to cook... He might be thinking of this as some kind of challenge... I thought.

"Onii-san will do good in this cooking contest!" I got startled as someone's voice whispered on my ear.

"Don't surprise me like that Yuuto!" I whisper-shouted.

"Sorry." He gave a peace sign.

"So, what should we make?" Haruki asked.

"Hm, I have an idea..." Yuuma said. Haruki looked at him and Yuuma whispered onto his ear.

Is this a new ship-------------- Nope, cause Yuuma belongs to his brother and Haruki belongs to Shou only.

I giggled quietly to myself.

"Eh?" Shou turned to face me. "What are you giggling at Yumi-chan?"

"Nothing~" I gave him an innocent smile.

~Timeskip~

The two had already entered the kitchen along with the Diamond students. As their representative, they have both Akane-san and Masami-san. The four had been preparing on the ingredients and utensils they'll use. The four of us (namely: me, Miki, Yuuto, and Shou) went over to them to chit-chat. They didn't mind though.

"We will be starting the contest in 2 minutes. Participants, be prepared."

"So, we should be going now..." I said. "You two, fighting! (Hwaiting!!!-----)"

I gave them a sweet smile even to Yuuma (after the teasing this morning). Just think of it as a lucky charm. *^-^*

"Thank you!" Haruki smiled back with a light tint of red on his cheeks.

Not too long, the cooking contest started. I looked at them with boredom. Well, who wouldn't get bored if they'll just sit in a corner, doing nothing. The only thing I was awaiting was the food. Who wouldn't?! Besides, it's quite a rare experience to see my friends competing with each other.

"I'm hungry..." Miki said beside me while her mouth waters. I giggled at the face she's making. She just looks so... funny...

"Don't worry; they'll finish this in no time." I reassured.

~Timeskip~

YAYYYYYY!! THE FOOD IS SERVED!!!!

Both teams gave the half to the judges while for the other half, they gave it to us! It's a good thing we are friends with them... *^-^*

Yuuma and Haruki gave us first their finished product.

"Itadakimasu!!" The four of us said in unison and dug in.

"Oishii~" I and Miki said.

The balance was pretty good! It's quite of spicy, but not that much. Plus, the food has a mix of sweetness and sour and.... Ah! They're balanced! I couldn't even explain it with words! They're delicious~!

"Hey, guys." Akane said, coming to us with their food. Masami and Kaito following her. "Want some?"

"Sure!" I and Miki said in unison. We simultaneously took a bite on their food.

"You both act like twins..." Masami sweat-dropped.

We giggled. The food was------ WHAT THE----?!

"IT'S SPICY!! BUT DELICIOUS!!" We both said while fanning our mouths. It's VERY spicy. My face started to get red at how spicy it was. Miki fainted. She didn't stand the spiciness of the Diamond's class food.

"Did I overdo the spice...?" Akane said while staring at the dead Miki.

"Told you." Masami sighed.

R.I.P Miki...

"H-help..." Miki said in a raspy voice.

Being the good friend I was, I got a candy from my pocket and made her eat it. I also ate one before I could pass out.

"T-Thank you, Yumi-chan." She said while slowly getting back to normal.

"Attention! The winner will be announced in a minute."

The teams went back to their place and waited for a minute. At last, they'll announce it!

"And the winner is..." The announcer stopped, and great tension is filled within the room. "IT'S A TIE! BOTH TEAMS WON!"

"YATTA!!" We all went over to them and glomped the four of them.

The four of them choked.

"W-we can't breathe!" Haruki said.

"Whoops..." We all retracted and smiled at them.

"Omedetou." Masami and Akane said.

"You too." They replied.

Oh well, at least it ended up nicely-------

"SHOU!!!" We all turned to see a flour-covered Haruki.

"HAHAHAHAHA!!" Shou laughed like a maniac and ran away from a running flour man----er – Haruki.

We all sweat-drop and facepalmed.

~~~~
I finally graduated yesterday!! Yay!
Otome-chan will be a highschool student next school year!
... But Otome-chan messed up on Graduation... The medals I have also counted how many karmas I have yesterday... ^^;
I received 5 medals yesterday, and I also got 5 karmas too. First, when I bowed on the processional. The cap of my toga (I don't know what it's called.) fell. And the bad thing is that, only OTOME-CHAN'S cap fell! My classmates did it perfectly and I was very embarrassed on it. Second, I almost messed up on my speech. I stuttered on the first part of it, but got okay on the middle and end. Third, my copy fell when I was going down the stairs of the stage. Fourth, I almost slipped on the carpet going back to my seat. Fifth, my friend and I took too long to find our assigned teacher. We were supposed to give the teachers gifts, and we were panicking since we hadn't seen the teacher we were assigned with. It turned out she was just on the stage, sitting on a chair...
I guess it isn't karma but my unluckiness... ^^;
