Chapter 36: The Final Battle, Or Is It?
Silently hoping to get Hime, I stealthily crept onto their direction. They kept on moving frantically as I casted a dark spell to darken the place a bit.
"Ah! Where is she?!" Yuzu asked frantically.
"I can't see a thing!" Mahiru exclaimed.
"Everyone! Go near me!" Hime commanded.
Everyone tried to follow the source of Hime's voice. I groaned. Great, just great.
As I can see everyone cautiously walking to Hime like the dark surroundings was just nothing. I hurriedly ran to Hime in hopes she'll get off guard.
"Dark Sp--"
"Angel's Light!" Oh shoot! She's sharper than I thought!
I dodged the attack that Hime casted. Everyone got alerted of the sudden 'light'.
"Hime!" They chorused.
I groaned. I wasted the chance to get her.
I quickly jumped back to the shadows as her teammates quickly ran to her.
"Hime, are you okay?!" Tsubasa asked frantically.
"Why did you threw an attack?" Yozora asked worriedly.
"She's just here... Somewhere..." Hime explained. "We should be careful."
"Ball of Light..." A ball made of light floated, enough to illuminate a few places, but not all.
"Gather up, we can't afford to attack if we can't see." Hime said and released the ball of light to the air. "And I'm pretty sure she can see in the dark."
You've gotten sharper than last time, Hime. I thought. Hmm, let me take them down one-by-one.
I closed my open hands and the little ball of light was gone. Everyone gasped.
"W-What happened?!" Yuzu asked.
"Ball of Light!" Hime tried, but it didn't work. "W-What...?"
I snickered as they panicked. I should take down the one who's farthest from the group. Hmm, Yuzu's first!
I sprinted to her direction. She sensed the sudden change of her surroundings as her hands glowed a bit yellow/orange.
"Wind Dance!" She casted at a random direction.
It didn't even barely touched me. I mused.
The attack is heading towards an unknowing Mahiru. The sounds of wind whipping caused her to took action about the hurling winds.
"Ice Wall!" Mahiru casted before she almost got blown away by the winds. "Yuzu, what is with you?!"
"Sorry, sorry!" She apologized. "I thought someone's creeping at me."
Well, you aren't really wrong about that...
I pressed a hand to Yuzu's mouth. She thrashed at the sudden action.
"Mmph!"
I waved my free arm as a little ball of darkness was made. The little ball made it's way towards Yuzu as it entered her. A few seconds later, she collapsed.
One down, five more to go! I cheered.
I began to scan my eyes to the farthest one from Hime. The farthest was Mahiru, but she's a little bit near to Tsubasa.
I should be careful...
Creeping up to Mahiru, I feel my heart going to burst. It's beating at a very fast speed. One wrong move, and I'll be doomed--
"Ice Ball!" She casted towards my direction.
I managed to maneuver in a different direction just before the surprise attack hit me.
"Water Bubble!" I heard another voice spoke. It's near to me...
I closed my eyes to prepare for the upcoming attack--
But felt nothing.
Huh? I opened my eyes to see it's Tsubasa handling a bubble to the frozen ball. She popped it and the ball fell down the ground, smashing it to pieces.
"Mahiru, it's just me." Tsubasa frowned.
"Ah, sorry. I can't see anything in the dark."
"It's okay. Let's go near the others." She held out a hand to Mahiru, but since she can't see, she just stood there, seemingly paralyzed.
I can take this to my advantage!
I grabbed Mahiru's hand gently before leading her away to her group. The clicks of her sandals were the only things heard. Tsubasa might at least thinks that Mahiru's walking towards her direction.
We were a little bit of far towards the others when I stopped walking. She also halted her steps as well.
"Why did you stop?" Mahiru asked confusedly.
I clamped a hand towards her mouth quickly and her breath hitched. She thrashed around, kicking, punching, anything just to break loose of my hold. I did the same thing to what I did to Yuzu earlier, and she collapsed. I left her body on the ground and walked towards Tsubasa's direction.
She's still is holding her hand out, in hopes that Mahiru will grab it. Too bad, I knocked her down a few moments ago.
I grabbed her hand and she starts to walk around the dim surroundings. Before I could even cover her mouth, her grip around me tightened.
"How come you easily found my hand?" She asked darkly. "You said so yourself that you can't see. How come? Unless, you aren't Mahiru."
I would want to talk, but she might recognize my voice. I kept being silent.
"You aren't answering huh." Her grip became tighter that it hurts me. "Are you really Mahiru?"
Seconds pass by, and her grip started to make a mark on my hand. It hurts!
Instead of fighting, I giggled. "As sharp as ever."
I can see her eyes widen in alarm and to her mistake, released me from her iron grip. I rubbed my hand with my other hand.
"Ocean Storm!" I ran away to the direction of the attack.
"Ocean Wave!" My eyes widened as she almost hit me with her attack, if it wasn't for my agility.
How can she see in the dark?!
Meanwhile...
"That's..." Elza started.
"Tsubasa's voice!" Yozora and Hime both exclaimed.
"Quick! Follow me!" Elza urged.
"Flare Spark!"
In an instant, a little flame lit up the dark environment. Yozora and Hime were quick to notice about the sudden light and ran towards it's direction.
"Let's get out of here." Elza suggested as the two caught up with her.
"How about the others?" Hime asked worriedly.
"Don't worry, I and Yozora will look for them." Elza smiled. "We can handle ourselves. And also, she needs you, not us, so why risk you?"
Hime sighed. "You've got a point.
~~~
"Ocean Storm!" She casted to my direction while my eyes narrowed.
How come she can see in the dark...? And yet, I'm pretty sure she's just bluffing...
"Water Wave!" She casted once again.
Urgh, it's annoying me!
While running, I didn't notice a stone just a few steps away from me. Due to the impact while I ran, it was thrown in another direction. It made a few clicking sounds before finally resting in peace.
"Water Wave!" She casted to the direction where the stone had flung onto.
Gotcha. I thought. You use your hearing to as if trick your opponent that you can 'see' in the dark, but in reality you're just using your sense of hearing to have a guide in the dark.
Keeping this in mind, I made sure that my boots didn't made any clicking sounds and stealthily crept onto her.
I, again used the method I used to the two girls while her reaction was the same as the others; she's constantly thrashing around. The small ball of purple made it's way to Tsubasa, and she passed out.
Three down, two more to go before I get you, Hine...
