Chapter 3: Out from the Future, Out with a Warning
Akira's POV
This is my place to die.
There was a power beam that was directed right towards us.
I closed my eyes, ready to take in the impact, or as well accept my place to die.
I waited, I knew it was coming..
But nothing came.
I wanted to open my eyes, but whatever was ahead was so bright, I couldn't-
Ah- I must have died...
Suddenly, there was a strange sound to my side-
A stomach grumbling- Right's stomach.
So I'm not dead.
But it relieved me to know that the other Toqgers aren't either.
Squinting my eyes from the bright light, I look at what had prevented that power beam from hitting us.
I felt my eyes widened and I had to rub them as they began to sting.
In front of us stood brightly coloured figures.
Now I'm second guessing myself whether I'm dead or not.
As the light began to dim just enough for me to see their figure, it was clear they shared some sort of relation to our suits- though I will say, even with all the light, their suits' outlines were a bit different then ours somehow..
My eyes planted onto an orange shaded figure-
It...
It was me..
Toq Rokkugou..
But here I am, standing behind these figures witnessing them in front of me, as all I can see is their back view-
Could they really be Toqger?..
A brighter light suddenly flashed before us and I, along with the others, had to turn around but we stumbled back from its brightness.. The light quickly dimmed off.
I turn back, only to come face to face with the people in front of us-
They weren't in their suits anymore..
Getting a better look, I tip my helmet up to meet the eyes of the people who have shielded us from the shot. I looked just passed them, and the mysterious, hooded figure that attacked us was no longer there-
Even after what happened, that wasn't my biggest concern at the moment.
I glance back at the people in front of us-
Four boys and two girls.
They were still young, and colourful.
But I had another feeling, a strange one.
Looking at each person individually, I feel I recognize them somehow, like I've seen these faces before?..
I shake my head,
It can't be...
Yet, my eyes once again, lead to a boy third from the left.
The boy's eyes met mine and darted somewhere else immediately.
I feel like I know him...
I feel like I know them...
One of the girls from the end of the line took two steps forward, facing us,
"Is everyone ok?.." She asks as she breaks the silence. I nod, taking a quick glance to both of my sides, noting that the others were still dazed and frozen.
While I know that her question was directed towards all of us, I follow her brief gaze that lead to Hikari, staring her back- and Kagura, who cowared behind him.
A boy ran to Right, who was still at my side.
"Are you ok... Right-san?" He asked. Right looked stunned, so we're the others.
How do they know his name?..
"Akira-san?" A voice spoke. I look up to see it was the boy who I was eyeing earlier.
"Are you alright?" He asks and one of his hands hovered in front of me. I wasn't sure if I should take it or not, but considering what just happened...
Wait.
How does he know my name?...
I take his hand regardless and he pulls me up, helping me stand.
I hear the rest of the Toqger's names being called out singly.
I don't understand what's going on..
How do they know our names?..
The boy who had just spoken to me steps forward. We lock eyes again but he averts his stare and clears his throat. He opens his mouth to speak, but was interrupted by a loud sound-
In a distance, I see the Resshas making their way to us.
Why are they working? Didn't they loose power?..
Everyone stepped back as the Resshas made a full stop in front of us. A window slid open, and on the other side was the Conductor.
"Ever since the storm had stopped, the Resshas began to gain function all of sudden-"
Ticket suddenly shuts the mouth of the Conductor,
"Now hurry up and get on! They'll be at full expectation when we reach the next station!" Ticket nagged.
I look to the others.
They seemed lost, and I had the feeling that they weren't listening. They kept staring at the strangers with us,
"Who might these be- AH!-" The Conductor begins to say but was pushed to the side as Wagon was now at the window,
"My~ what handsome young fellows!~" Wagon giggles as she takes her handkerchief and waves it to the four male strangers. One of the boys laughed,
"Quite flattering, but if you'd don't mind, we'll be getting on-" he says as he gestures the others to follow.
"Eh-eh? They heard me! They can see the Resshas?! But they're adults!" Wagaon says, shaking the Conductor back and forth.
They begin to walk towards the entrance but Mio walks in front, halting them.
"Where do you think you're going?" She demands, crossing her arms. The tallest boy of the group sighs,
"We're boarding the train, what else does it look like we're doing?"
"Invading them." Hikari stated,
"You wouldn't be able to get on them anyways, you'd need a pass." Tokatti reaches for his pocket and retrieves his pass and shows it to the group of people. The smallest girl chuckles and swings her backpack to the side and zips open a pocket. She pulls out a familiar rectangular object.
"You mean this?" She smiles. In her hand, she held a train pass, more so, it even had "TQG" engraved on the front. Tokatti gasped,
"H-h-how did you get that?!" He starts to panic and glances back and forth between his pass and the girl's. Both passes weren't very different, but the girl's was somewhat, shinier?
The rest of her group also retrieve their passes.
"Do you think they're gonna work?" She asks the boy beside her. He tosses his pass in the air and catches it and smirks,
"Worth a shot." He moves past Mio and into the passing guard,
"Hey! What're you doing?!"
He ignores Mio and taps his pass on the scanner and it accepts it.
The rest of his group followed, tapping their passes one by one, each being accepted through the entrance.
I don't know why I didn't bother stopping them from literally entering our Resshas.
"Come on!-" I tug at the others to follow along. They seem to still to be frozen on the spot. Speechless. Seconds later, they hurried to enter the Resshas as well. Before I was about to enter, I notice Right was still behind. He was staring at the entrance, lifeless.
What's wrong with everyone?
"What is it?" I ask him, he shakes his head, not removing his eyes from the passing entrance.
"Don't you feel weird?.." He asks. He clutches his stomach, but I don't think it was from hunger-
Right...
He looked pale.
I nod, "I do actually, but right now, they just entered the Resshas with their own passes. We need to confront them for answers-"
"And thank them.." Right blurts out,
"They saved us.."
He was right though.
They came out of no where, but they did save us from what seemed to be a lethal attack.
I nudged Right over to the scanner as we both tap our passes and go through the entrance.
We turn to the main Ressha where we find the others, standing at the opposite side of the strangers, staring at them. The group looked very uncomfortable. The whole atmosphere seemed uncomfortable.
The Conductor had rushed through the sliding door at the end of this Ressha.
"Who are you all?! How did you get in here!-" The Conductor questions,
"Why are you in here?!" Ticket spats. The six people traded glances at each other, probably waiting for one of them to speak up.
"Look, I know we kinda just barged in here without an invite-" one of them begins to speak,
"Barge in?! You came in here with no absolute permission- and why do each of you posses one of those?!" Ticket screeches and gestures at their passes,
"I'm sorry, but the only passes we provided are for these kids right here." The Conductor points at me and the rest of the Toqgers.
"Well, maybe for now." A girl shrugs.
"What do you mean by 'for now'?"
"Anyways-" A boy steps in between the argument. I notice Right, who was beside me, began to tense up.
"Ok so you've never met us, no biggie, we did save your lives though.." He reasoned,
"So in return, please listen to us," He catches everyone's attention as they quiet down,
"First things first, we actually came here to warn you.." The boy pauses and swallows, he seemed a bit shaky but soon straightened out.
"Warn us? Why?.." I ask, not following. The boy sighs, he didn't look like he was able to continue. A familiar boy from behind, took his friend's place to speak,
"You're all in danger..." he says,
"We are?.." Kagura whispers,
"Yes, but don't worry, we are going handle this-"
"We? Who's we?"
"We are we. Look, we didn't come here to argue. All you need to do is trust us-"
"How can we? We don't even know who you are!-"
"We also came here to protect you from-"
"We're fine by ourselves." Hikari counters, it caught me off guard-
What ever happened to "thanking" them?
"Really? 'Cause it didn't look like that a while ago-"
Right stood up from where he was sitting, and the whole room went silent.
"Thank you." Right says as the group he was facing raised their heads.
"Not for shutting up, but for saving us back there.." He continues.
"We really wouldn't be here if it weren't for you, so-"
"Right-"
"SO-" Right stops, and shakes his head,
"So I think we should trust them."
Of course he's so willing to befriend them.
"Right-" Hikari places a hand on Right's shoulder,
"Maybe they saved us, for that we owe them yes, but how did they save us? We don't even know who that black-hooded figure was and just to add on with that, they came out of no where and blocked a powerful attack- right now what it seems to me," Hikari turns his head to the group on the other end,
"That they're either friends, or a threat."
Hikari really didn't trust them.
"Hikari give them a chance!-"
"Plus, they all have Rainbow Line passes, doesn't that seem suspicious Right?" Mio adds,
"Wait," the boy whom I was unsure of earlier steps in the space in the middle of the two groups,
"I know you have so many questions," He makes eye contact with me again, "So we're going to answer them, one by one."
A girl beside him also took a step forward,
"You're right, things don't just come out of nowhere- therefore, I'm gonna tell you where we came from, and your have to believe us-" she says as she points to a window behind us,
"You came from the sky?.." Kagura tilts her head, confused.
"We came from that Time Paradox, I'm sure you saw it." I nod. It had disappeared a while ago, at the time the strangers had saved us, which now made sense.
"Well I know that's hard to believe, there's something else too that's probably a bit harder," another boy spoke,
"These passes, they were given to us just like they were given to you all-" He turns to face the Conductor and Wagon,
"She gave them to us." He finishes.
"Oh my!~ I did?" Wagon turned to face the Conductor, confused.
"What? When?-" The Conductor took out from what seemed to be a small handbook and flipped through the pages, not like that was going to help right now.
"Bro, you're saying too much-"
"It's fine." I heard two of them whisper,
"Now that we've cleared that," The boy from before clears his throat once again, "If you could just trust us-"
"How though?"
"Hm?"
"We still don't know who you all are." Hikari crossed his arms. Kagura moves beside him, copying him,
"What are you names?.." She asks, deepening her voice to act serious.
The group looked at each other. Suddenly, a smile was formed on each person's face.
The smallest person of the group steps forward and bows before coming back up, and pushing her glasses up the bridge of her nose.
"I'm Mitsuka! Nice to meet you!" She greeted. Her eyeglasses were black and square shaped. She had shoulder-length hair with spiky ends and long bangs tucked to the side of her ear. She wore a yellow t-shirt with two white stripes on the top. As well as light-blue, ripped jeans and yellow running shoes. She carried a light yellow backpack with a bunch of key chains and pins decorated around it.
The tallest person among them walks forward to stand beside Mitsuka and rests his arm on top of her head.
"I'm her older brother, Tadashii." He winks. He wore a grey beanie with a blue and yellow stripe across it. The ends of his hair were curly and stuck out of his beanie. He wore a dark-blue puffer jacket that was unzipped, revealing the grey shirt he wore under. He wore dark-grey sweat pants and brown Timberlands.
Mitsuka pouted and pushed Tadashii's arm off her head. A boy came in between them and pushed them to the side.
"My name's Haruki!" He beams. Haruki had long, messy, spiked hair. He wore a dark green denim jacket and a white and purple ombré t-shirt under. He was also wearing brown cargo pants and green, high-cut converse.
The other girl stood next to Haruki and poked his cheek. She then links her arm with his,
"I'm Kei- his twin sister!" She smiled. Kei had her long hair done up in a high ponytail and side-swept bangs. She wore a light pink jean jacket and a white shirt with "super girl" printed in pink on the front. She was also wearing black leggings and flat, brown leather ankle-boots.
There were two boys left, and they took a step forward, aligning themselves beside the others.
One of them faced Right, grinned widely and slightly bowed.
"My name is Kirato." He does a small saluting gesture. Kirato had short, spiky hair. He was wearing a red, puffer vest and a grey hoodie under. He had a red and white checkered flannel tied around his waist. He also wore dark blue jeans and red sneakers.
Kirato puts his arm around the final boy, whose turn was to introduce himself.
I met his eyes again as he looks down, awkwardly. Kirato elbows him on the side which causes him to jump,
"Soraki Yan." He quickly states. Yan had slicked back hair, done up into a man-bun. He had an orange bandana tied around his head. He wore a white, leather jacket and a faded, orange tank-top under. He also wore loose, velvet jeans and black-laced boots.
Soraki Yan? I've never heard of this name before- yet he seems so familiar.
Also- why is he the only one with a surname?
Yan looks away and bows, coming back up and smirks at his friends giving teasing looks.
After learning their names, it wasn't hard to identify each person, especially by singling each one out by their different personalities, in comparison to one another.
"Even though we've introduced ourselves, we still have some more explaining." Kirato laughs nervously, scratching the back of his head.
"I know it looks like we're hiding something, the truth is- we are. But we have to." He continued.
"We have to be very careful with every word we say, for if we either say the wrong thing or too much, there will be consequences." Kei explained,
"Why is that?" Tokatti asked curiously,
"We just said-"
"You want to gain our trust, correct?" Mio asks,
"Why does your situation concern us?" Hikari questioned. Tadashii sighs,
"Ok fine. Might as well sum it all up now, huh." Tadashii spoke, slightly annoyed.
Kirato exchanged looks with his friends, sad looks.
"At this point, we've already said too much, so I guess we have no choice.."
Their smiles slowly faded away and were replaced with small frowns.
"Are you alright?" Kagura perks up, noticing their quick change of mood. Kirato shakes his head. He stepped forward to face Right once again.
He glanced back at the others, who nodded. Kirato pulls up one of his hoodie's sleeves. With half a bare arm, he raises it, letting it hover in front of Right, gesturing for him to shake his hand. Confused, Right attempts to shake Kirato's hand without thought, but just as the two hands were about to meet, Right's hand suddenly slipped through Kirato's. Right had took a step back startled.
"Yo-your hand!-" Right points at Kirato's hand, now slightly fading and coming back. The rest of friends stood alongside him and pulled up their sleeves, revealing their slightly fading hands. I heard gasps from the Toqgers- they were clearly as shocked as I was. I look at Yan, who was the only one who's hands weren't fading. He was looking at the floor out of discomfort, but when he raised his head, I know from his eyes, he felt something else-
Guilt.
"What happened to you guys?" I asked. I'm feeling really uneasy.
"We're disappearing..." Mitsuka says, her voice cracked a bit. I can tell how shaken all of them are.
"A warning is not all that we came here for- we also came for a favour," Yan pauses,
"We need your help." Haruki spoke.
"You were wondering before, why we know all of your names, and why we can't explain our situation entirely, right?" Kei inquired,
"Well, to sum up a whole chunk of stuff," Tadashii stuffs his hands in his pockets before continuing,
"We're from the future." He finished.
What-
So many things spun around my head at once- one thing's for sure, this explains the Time Paradox.
"Why does our situation have to do with you guys? Well first off, it's pretty much everything," Mitsuka shrugs and looks at Kirato,
"And second off..." Kirato starts to speak as he pulls something out from his vest pocket-
A bright red, Ressha.
"We're the next Toqger."
...
"EEEEEEEEEHHHHH?!"

I need to apologize for updating after such a freaking long time. I had a huge writer's block and I didn't know how to write this chapter. I now, however, have more of an idea for this fanfic's direction and I'm very excited for it! I hope you enjoyed this chapter! (I've been working on it for a while now).
Speaking of today's chapter-
These mysterious' people identities are revealed, but have they revealed everything there is to know about them?.. Why are they disappearing? How are they the next Toqger? Can the current Toqger trust them?
All will be answered in the next chapters~
