CHAPTER SIX: FOUR ON THE B.A.S.E.

May 8, 2003

 It’s a few days later, and No Rules were at their house. They were given a few days off before they start promoting their single, Let Me Go. Hannah was watching MTV on her TV in her room.

 A brand new music video was just premiered. It was a new pop group, with 3 guys and 4 girls. In the video, this new band were dancing on top of cars, and were dressed in extremely provocative attire. The music style was pop, and it was similar to NR’s debut album, but with an urban-rock sound.

 When the video ended, it showed the band’s name and logo: B.A.S.E. The host of the show airing the video announced the phone number to request the video. So Hannah got out her cell-phone, and requested it. An hour later, as the video was about to air again, she got out a video tape, and put it in the built-in VCR. She taped it.

 When she was finished, she gathered the NR members into the living room. Charlie, feeling irritated, asked, “So, why are we here? To grill me?”

 Alex said, “If it is, I’m out.”

 Hannah explained, “Charlie has nothing to do with this. I hope. Anyway, there’s this new band called Base. They look like some slightly older version of us, No Rules. This is the music video. The song is called Go All Out.”

 Then Hannah showed the video. When it was over, the members were stunned. Edward suddenly got up from a chair, and went over to the band’s desktop computer. He looked up B.A.S.E. He found the band’s website, but all it said was ‘coming soon’.

 He said, “We need to confront Peter.”

 Ashley asked, “How do you know it’s Peter that formed the band?”

 “The website showed that Base signed with Epic and Dillon. So, it’s likely Peter created this band.”

 And with that, NR left their house to go confront Peter. As they entered the Dillon Management building, they saw BG6 in the lobby. BG6 were somewhat surprised to see NR.

 Kelsey asked, “So you lot saw the video of that Base band, yeah?”

 Ashley said, “Yeah, we did, and we’re here to confront Peter about this new band. Why are you here? Peter isn’t your manager.”

 Sean said “No, but he’s in charge of Dillon Entertainment. England doesn’t need another More Rules. We already got one, and they’re beginning to suck.”

 Edward said angrily, “Who the f*ck are you talking to?! Are you spending too much time with suck5?”

 Ashley added, “And besides, we need to make sure No Rules are his main priority.”

 Just then, a receptionist told BG6 it was time for them to meet with Peter. NR followed BG6 to his office. They all barged in at once. Peter asked nervously, “How may I help all of you?”

 Sean said angrily, “We want to you to split up Base! There shouldn’t be another No Rules!”

 Edward demanded, “No! We wanna what your plans are for that Base band!”

 With that, both bands started talking and yelling at the same time. After a few minutes, Peter motioned the teens for silence.

 He explained, “I’ll explain everything on Base. The name is an acronym: ‘B’-Bad, ‘A’-Amazing, ‘S’-Sexy, and ‘E’-Exciting. After working with Logan on the No Rules project, I was inspired to form a pop band based off of No Rules. During the auditions for No Rules, there were a lot of teenagers who were about 17. I decided to cast seven of them to BASE. They were to be a more mature version of No Rules, since they’re now about 19. Now, this band is different. BASE is about to air a reality series on BBC3, called B.A.S.E.-Uncensored. Kind of like The Ozzbournes and Newlyweds-Nick and Jessica. Their debut album is almost finished, and it’ll only be released here in Britain. They will only be marketed in Britain. They may go to Europe, but that’s it. No Rules will be my main focus. Okay?”

 The two teen bands became silent, and then they walked away. As they were about to leave the building, they saw B.A.S.E. The members were Denise Harper (age 19), Andrew Fields (18), Laurie Bennett (19), Blake Guerrero (19), Marissa Payne (18), Ryan Smith (19), and Kristy White (20). This new pop group saw BG6 and NR, so they approached them.

 Marissa greeted them warmly, “Hi, I’m so glad we finally get to meet you lot.”

 NR gave strained smiles, as they’re still reeling from the fact that Peter formed B.A.S.E. As for BG6, they were visibly furious. The B.A.S.E. members started to feel awkward and quiet, but Andrew broke the silence.

 He said nervously, “Erm, we love your debut albums. They’re very different, but their own good way.”

 Once again, there was awkward silence. After a few seconds, B.A.S.E. walked away. It was now just NR and BG6.

 Mariana said awkwardly, “They seem nice.”

 With BG6 stormed off. Soon, NR left.
