Chapter Four.
Sunday. It was now Sunday.
Two people were walking up to Retsuko's apartment door, flowers in hand. One was taller and wearing a more professional suit, whilst the other was shorter and just wearing his everyday clothes. Both had been looking forward to this all week. Both had planned what they were to say, even in the face of rejection. Both didn't know that the other was coming until they met at the door.
Tadano, the taller man, looked down at Resasuke. 'Flowers..? Why does this rando have flowers? Is....is Retsuko dating him??' Tadano stepped back a bit, as if appalled by Resasuke's presence. Resasuke just binked and looked over him. "Oh. I didn't expect someone like you to be here. You are her ex, after all." Resasuke shrugged and looked back to the aprtment door, forgetting to mention the fact that he was also an ex of Retsuko.
"Wait a minute....Your that space cadet guy Retsuko would talk about! She told me how terrible you were for not even caring about how she felt sometimes! You really sucked!" Tadano chuckled, smirking. 'Does this guy really expect Retsuko to take someone like him back? If anything, she would take me, I at least treated her well.' Tadano seemed confident as he glared down at Resasuke, his tail moving slightly in pride.
That's when Resasuke's voice dropped an octave. Glaring right back at Tadano, Resasuke's eyes seemed to glint a sharp red. "Well, at least I would of married her."
Tadano took another step back in surprise. According to Retsuko, this guy never showed this much emotion, especially in his voice. But upon looking back and seeing Resasuke knock on the door, his face was as emotionless as ever. 'What the hell?? What's with this loser??' Tadano gritted his teeth in annoyance, stepping back up to the door with a determined look on his face.
. . .
Silence.
" Maybe she's not home-"
Tadano started to speak when the door opened, revealing cute pale ears, a short stature, Familiar fur colors...., wrinkles.., cold unforgiving eyes.... Wait, that's not Retsuko. That's her..
"What do you fools want with my daughter?!?" Mama Retsuko hissed at the two men, an annoyed look on her face as she held a vacuum. "Gah- Ah I brought her flowers!" Tadano pushed them forward, only to land them in the lady's face. Resasuke just stood there and blinked, showing no emotion as usual. "Grrrr....My daughter dumped you for a reason pal! Don't come crawling back now when she already left you! It's your fault that you didn't want to marry her! You could of had her forever if you just would of gave her what she wanted, but you can't come crawling back now! You had your chance! I mean, maybe if you were to show her that you can...no, no I will respect this one decision of my daughters and just- What do you want?!?"
Retsuko's mom had turned on Resasuke, the older ex of the two men. Blinking, he lightly moved the flowers forward. " I brought flowers, I was coming to ask if Retsuko wanted to hang out. We never ended on the best ties, so I wanted to apologize correctly." Resasuke paid no mind to Tadano, who was currently scared and annoyed. 'What the hell is this guys game?? Is he charming Retsuko's mom?!?' Tadano glanced between the two, Retsuko's mother talking in a much lower tone to Resasuke than she did Tadano.
"Well, however nice that is she isn't even here right now. Didn't she tell anyone that? I mean, just before you another guy made his way over here and dropped off this perfume coated letter. Said to give it to her. What was that kids name again? He was real young looking, maybe...Anu? Ann? Unai?....Whatever. Point is, stay away from my daughter." She then slammed the door, retreating back into Retsuko's apartment.
. . .
"Who's Unai?" Tadano asked, looking at where Resasuke was supposed to be. He had left running as soon as the door was shut, leaving the flowers behind. "Hey!!" Tadano yelled after him, dropping his flowers and running down the stairs to his limo as he watched Resasuke run down the road. 'I have to find Retsuko first. And that Unai kid.....They don't deserve her. I have to protect Retsuko. From everyone.' Tadano slammed his limo door as soon as he got in, opening the window and watching the street. "Go! Follow that Red panda dude!" He ordered at Eni-o, the car not even starting. "Sir, that would be considered stal-" "I SAID GO!!" Tadano yelled louder as the limo roared to life, following Resasuke as fast as the speed limit allowed.
Resasuke glanced behind him at the speeding limo, his eyes glinting when he met Tadano's angry ones. He was coming in fast. 'I'm not gonna let him find Retsuko!!' Resasuke ran faster, not paying any mind to his aching feet as he looked ahead. 'Where does Retsuko hang out? The bar? Yoga? No, its not Thursday...Ramen, coffee, the subway...no. No think, was she upset? Has she been upset lately?? She looked annoyed on the bus yesterday, and her mom's here she....I know where she might be.' Sharply, Resasuke turned into an alleyway, his feet pounding as fast as his heart.
"Where did he go!?" Tadano pulled his head inside the limo, his eyes more than glaring at the piece of Ai. "He appears to have turned down an alley, the limo will not fit in the narrow space so I am Re-routing our-" "This is taking too long!!" Tadano opened the door and started running after Resasuke at almost the same speed his limo had drove. "RESASUKE!!" Tadano shouted after the red panda, his heart pounding in more emotion as his anger grew. Resasuke didn't turn around, running still down the ever going alley.
"RESASUKE!!!" Tadano shouted again, his feet starting to burn as he ran. This time Resasuke did turn around, squinting his eyes in annoyance. 'So this guy's still giving chase huh??' Resasuke frowned, digging in his pocket. Bingo.
Tadano's eyes widened as an empty coffee can rocketed towards his face, him nearly dodging as he kept running after the attacking panda, stumbling slightly. "RESASUKE I'M WARNING YOU!!" Tadano yelled, digging through his own pockets for anything to counter attack with. Nothing but his phone and his wallet. Not those, no, he needed something heavier. Something... Tadano looked around the sides of the alleyway as Resasuke ran on, also looking for more items to throw.
That's when Tadano spotted it. Right there, abandoned in the alley trash was an empty fire extinguisher. Grabbing it as he ran past, his feet gained speed, determined to stop who he was pursuing. Tadano was gaining fast. Resasuke noticed this, pushing himself faster as he spotted the alley's end. 'If I can just get in the building I can...' Resasuke hissed suddenly, his leg cramping up. 'Fuck fuck not now!!' Resasuke's pace slowed as he started to limp, his looking down the path at Tadano. He had raised the extinguisher over his head, ready to throw as soon as he caught up.
That's when Resasuke grabbed a barrel. It was an old rusted drum filled with sitting rainwater, infested with disgusting pests and reeking of mold. That's what Resasuke threw down the Alley at Tadano before he collapsed, his cramp turning into a major Charley horse. Dust covered his vision as Resasuke's body shook, his heart rate attempting to slow in vain. His breathing was equally shaky as he took in deep breaths filled with dust, coughing it up as his lungs also tried to regain themselves.
As the dust finally cleared, Resasuke's body curled in on itself, finally taking in clearer breaths as his lungs burning sensation started to subside. Resasuke forced his eyes open, slowly and carefully lifting his head to look back down the alleyway. The barrel was long gone down the road, and he could see nobody there. No Tadano. "Eheh....heh..." Resasuke smiled weakly as he let his head rest against the pavement again. Once he regained his composure, he would find Retsuko.
Resasuke coughed once more before taking in a deeper breath, putting a hand on his heart. It was starting to slow, but it was still fast. His leg wasn't going anywhere for at least a half hour, though, he had really messed it up. He was surprised he hadn't pulled a muscle. 'Maybe that Tadano guy pulled one. That would be great, heh. Weakling. Hell, I wouldn't mind if he got put in the hospital..' Resasuke laughed quietly before coughing again, his lungs warning him to stop and rest.
Resasuke then sighed and looked up at the sky, letting his systems catch up with his thoughts. That's when he saw Tadano. Sweaty, rough, pissed looking Tadano, who was still holding the fire extinguisher above his head. "Bye bye." Tadano laughed, grinning as he brought the metal capsule down onto Resasuke's head with a loud clank.
Tadano dropped the Extinguisher and let it roll down the alleyway, him breathing hard. "Hah...hahaha..." Tadano laughed queitly, slowly. He didn't care if Resasuke was dead, he didn't care that the barrel ran over and cut his leg, he didn't care about anything right now. All he cared about was Retsuko. And she would only care about him, since he would make sure he was the only person left for her to love.
"Now....Let's find that Unai guy....huh?" Tadano laughed quietly as he limped slowly back to his limo, his hair rustled with dirt and sweat as his eyes twitched, the pupils dilated and as they looked ahead, his breath slow and wobbly.
Never once did he turn around. Never once did he feel any remorse for what he had done.
(Ah jeez this took longer than it should have. Please tell me what you thought of this chapter in the comments, and if I should include more action like sequences in the following chapters too. They won't take as long as this one did, promise. Have a good day or night!)
