Chapter Seventeen
It was a new day already.
Everyone had to do their work online at home while the police cleaned up the office and started their investigation, and Retsuko didn't mind that at all.
It was nice to work from home. She needed to catch up anyway, and for once, she wasn't annoyed at that part. She already decided that she wasn't going out today like some of her other coworkers were, and she'd spend all day closed up in her place.
And that... was nice. Because Retsuko wasn't even dressed as she read her emails and typed along.

Gori knew Anai's routine well enough by now, so she didn't have to worry about that. Not to mention that he would probably be home now due to the murder he caused.
Tonight. Tonight she would get him, when he was home, she would sneak in and kill him.

Anai knew the plan. He knew the plan very well, in fact. And he would do the plan.
...
But he was still nervous. Fenneko said no one would find out if he did it correctly, And no one else would get hurt. Besides Haida, of course.
It made him feel shaky. He wanted Retsuko, he loved Retsuko, and Haida was in the way. But Haida was still his friend. Could he really do this? And if he did, would he even be able to do it without anyone suspecting?
...Of course he could. Nothing was on his record so far, and he's new, no one would suspect him. It'd be okay. It will all go according to plan.
Without a hitch.

Fenneko tapped her foot in her cell, watching the wall. Anai would do what she said, he had to, she knew he had too.
But she was nervous. If he failed even the smallest bit of this plan then nothing would work. Haida would end up fine, and she would not.
Did she really want this? Did she really want to do this for Retsuko? Haida had been her friend ever since she started work there, and he had never done anything wrong.
But he got himself in this war. And he needed to get out of it, one way or another. She had already gone this far. There was no going back. Not anymore.

Eni-o wasn't programmed to recognize safety hazards to others. He only had a very limited amount of knowledge on safety, such as what to do in an event of a fire, or not to stick your fingers in an electric socket.
He could, however, learn. While it may not be about general safety, or others safety, he could still help Tadano. He would research the strange action, or symptoms as they were called, and find results.
When he learned what was going on, he could help Tadano. He could learn why Tadano was doing this.
Now, the AI didn't really have a moral code for what was good and bad. It simply took Tadano's word for it, or whatever it learned. If a reliable source said something was bad, then it must be. Same with good.
So Eni-o wasn't good or bad either, and had no bias on it.
And that's why it was going to be hard to confront Tadano about the results he found for his symptoms.

Resasuke wasn't going to find Tadano. Because Resasuke knew that Tadano would be coming for him anyway.
Resasuke wasn't going to kill Tadano, he wasn't a murderer. But Tadano was.
He wasn't going to kill, he was going to defend. Defend himself, and Retsuko. He was going to be ready. And he wasn't going to miss.
~- - - - -~
Tadano was, in fact, going after Resasuke. Tonight. He would strike tonight and he'd make sure he was dead this time.
No hoping, no wishing, just doing. Tadano got to where he was today by doing what needed to be done, and this wasn't going to be an exception.
And after Resasuke, he'd go for Anai and anyone else who got too close to his Retsy. And then everything would be okay.

Man, this was easy. All he had to do was watch everything in front of him unfold and he'd be good to go.
No one even mentioned his name since this all started, not a single officer had questioned him. Not even Ton had said anything. Perfect. It was all going perfect.
Everyone was playing their role just as Komiya had expected, and all he had to do was kill off that stupid bird.
He was patient, he could wait. And he'd wait as long as he needed to before he'd swoop in and take his darling Retsuko away with him.
Whether she liked it or not.
(Sorry for such a short chapter, but I couldn't really fit in the long scene up ahead without getting these thoughts out in the story. Thank you all for reading, and I really hope you enjoyed! Tell me what you thought of Komiya coming into play too, haha. Have a great day/night!)
