09. No Interruption

"You're sure you're okay?" Ms. Blake asks me once more as I sit in the office, practically being interrogated.

I sigh as I nod my head. "I'm positive. He just came at me and I somehow managed to get away before you guys stopped him."

Ms. Blake points towards my ear, which was still bleeding slightly. "What about that?"

"He just nicked me," I say, brining my fingers up to the wound. It was only a little scratch; one that barely even hurt. "Nothing a band-aid can't fix."

The principle exchanges glances between Ms. Blake and I before back at me. "Okay then, you're free to go. I've already called Mr. Stilinski to get you-"

"Why?" I ask, furrowing my eyebrows. "I'm fine. I can stay here until the end of the day. There's only one more period left."

Ms. Blake seems surprised along with the principle. "You're telling me you want to stay here after almost being mauled by a kid with a knife?"

"That's exactly what I'm saying."

He shakes his head, borderline laughing. "Alright then. Get back to class."

I nod my head before I'm standing, turning and making eye contact with Ms. Blake. She gives me a faint nod before letting me walk around her and back out into the hall. Aiden had gotten suspended and was in trouble with the police, but I wasn't sure about all of that yet. They said he wouldn't get charged a lot since he technically didn't hurt me, which is still dumb because of the tear marks in my shirt. Sure, they weren't caused by him, but it sure looked like it. The good part I guess was that he wouldn't be back at school anytime soon, which is what we wanted.

I wouldn't have minded going home, but I knew that I needed to stay here for at least until the end of the day. Allison was still here, along with Jade and Ethan, and I had a feeling that they had something else up their sleeve. No way was I going to go back to Stiles' house and wonder what happened; I needed to be here. If they do and try to come at any of us, I can always use myself as leverage.

I turned the corner to walk back into Ms. Hampton's class when I see Allison walk out from one of the other rooms, looking stressed out and worried. She doesn't notice me at first, but then she looks up and her face brightens ever so slightly. I furrow my eyebrows at her before she's walking towards me, tugging me into the janitor's closet that was right next to me.

She shuts the door as I look around briefly. "What's wrong?"

She shakes her head, the dark light in the closet shadowing her face. "That doesn't matter. What happened with you?"

"They just told me that Aiden is in big trouble and that they're glad I'm okay," I say, still wondering what was wrong with her in the back of my mind. Allison nods her head before her eyes widen, staring at the bloody scratch on my ear.

"What happened?" she says as she reaches up to it, but I stop her before she can touch it. "I didn't do that, did I?"

I lower her hand. "I thought you meant to?"

"Why would I mean to hurt you?" she says, sounding utterly confused and hurt.

I hated hearing her like this. "It doesn't hurt, Allison. Besides, it made the whole act look more believable. It's a good thing you did it."

She looks hesitant. "Yeah...I just thought my aim was a lot better than that."

"You did great," I say as I take both of her hands. "I can't believe we actually pulled that off."

A smile finally finds it's way onto her face. "And you're quite the actor. Never thought you'd be so good at it."

I scoff slightly. "Good? I used to do school plays when I was younger but that's about it."

"Well what matters is that we pulled it off," she smiles, her thumbs caressing the back of my hands. It sent chills throughout my body, and I wanted to kiss her right then. She gave me that bright look to do so as well, but for some reason I kept back. Don't get me wrong, I desperately wanted to, but I guess I wanted to tease her around.

Her face shows frustration before her eyes trail down to my pockets, where that necklace was. I had forgotten that I had shoved it into my pocket when I went to go find Allison, but now the string of it was dangling out, causing her to grab it and pull it out.

"Why do you have this?" she says, her tone hard to read. She sounded dull; lifeless.

She rubs her fingers across the symbol as I explain myself. "About that...you know how Jade and I were restocking the soda machines together? Well, that was hanging around he neck."

Her eyes bulge. "What? But how-"

"It doesn't matter how she got it," I say, my heart starting to pound a little faster at what it meant. "What this means is that she knows where you live and how much you mean to me. You're not safe-"

"How did she even get inside..." she fades out, cutting me off as she stared at the symbol. "Whatever, it doesn't matter. I can take care of myself."

I close my eyes for a brief moment, not being able to believe that she said that again. "Yes, but can you please tell me you'll be careful? Maybe you should think about getting your apartment lined with mountain ash."

She seems alarmed at first by my suggestion, but soon she's nodding her head. "That's not a bad idea, actually."

"I just want you to be safe," I say softly, meaning my words dearly. It was bad enough that Jade was back from the dead and was with the alpha pack, but if she came after Allison or hurt her...she'd be dead. She may have been my best friend, but if she ever did something like that I would never forgive her.

Allison is quiet for a moment before she looks back up at me, her eyes soft. "You got this back from her?"

I smiled faintly. "Yeah...somehow I managed to rip it off from around her neck."

"Really?" she says, taking a step closer towards me. "You know this thing doesn't mean anything..."

"I know," I say, knowing all of this already. "I just couldn't...I couldn't stand to see her wearing it. The fact that she had it was enough, but the smile on her face when she saw what was running through my mind when I saw it infuriated me."

She grins as she leans closer to me, a daring look on her face. "You really are cute when you're angry, Corey."

I raise an eyebrow at this. "Cute?"

Either she did this intentional or not, but her hand ever so slightly slides down the side of my arm, sending sparks throughout me. It was like every time she touched me left me wanting more, and I was desperate. It was like she was air and I was desperate to breathe.

So, I kissed her.

It was obvious that she was waiting for me to do so; after all, her body loosened up when it happened. Her lips tasted like sweet vanilla as it deepened with every passing second, but it was still a light, playful type of kiss. Her hands started to work as they trailed up my neck and to my hair, goosebumps rising on my body. It was moments like these that made me forget everything around me; Jade, the alpha pack, my abilities. Every passing moment with her made me realize how desperately in love I really was.

My eyes snap open however when I hear a door creak open, causing me to part with Allison. She turns around and gasps ever so slightly as a man in a blue uniform is standing there, the janitor, eyes wide with what he just saw. I try to form words in my throat, but they wouldn't come out. He just points out the door as we both scurry out, not daring to say a single thing.

First the police officer, now a janitor. We never get a break.

"You're such a great actor," Isaac laughs along with Scott and I. The three of us were walking out of the school to go home. Allison had left after saying goodbye to me at my locker, acting like she was in some type of hurry. Stiles, who was my ride, had left to do something with Lydia, but I'm not complaining. The two need to hurry up and become a thing before I rip my hair out.

Anyways, Scott had offered to give me a ride home since he drove his mom's car to school today. Of course I took his offer; no way will I be walking back to Stilinski's house, especially now that I know that the twins are more than likely mad at me and probably want me dead. Walking home alone isn't the best option.

"It was nothing," I say back to Isaac as we walk down the hall, seeing that everyone else was already gone. "Allison's the one who made it all look real."

Isaac seem thoroughly enthused. "It was still awesome. Now they know we can fight back...right?"

Scott and I both nod before we stop in our tracks, looking ahead of us down the hall and seeing two figures standing there. I couldn't quite tell who they were because of the shadows, but when I realized that their figure looked the exact same, I knew it was the twins.

Oh no.

My heart races a thousand beats a second as who I presumed was Aiden step forwards, kneeling down so that his hand was touching the floor. Scott takes a step backwards as Ethan slams his fist into his twin's back, starting to morph together. The sound was aweful, but what was even worse was what they morphed into after they were done.

"We can take them," Isaac says as he rolls up his sleeves, prepared to fight.

Scott's eyes are wide. "Are you kidding? Run!"

Before Scott even finishes his sentence, I'm already turning and bolting down the hall. I had gotten a head start before Scott and Isaac, but when I looked over my shoulder, I saw that the twins had already gotten to them. They lift the two of them upwards before throwing them back down the opposite end of the hall, making me even more panicked than what I already was.

I feared that they would catch up to me and get me next, but before I can even worry about that, I'm running into something. I stumble backwards and fall onto the ground, my hands catching me however before I hit my head. I hold my breath when I see Jade standing there, eyes red and claws extended as she stared down at me.

I knew then that she was going to either take me back to Deucalion or seriously hurt me, mostly because of what I had said to her earlier today. Her crimson eyes glare into my own as I'm frozen still, not knowing what to do or what to say; but none of that matters. Her eyes look away from my own as she look down the hall at the twins, growling lowly.

It looked like she was protecting me.

I bite my tongue when I see Deucalion walk up from behind her then, holding his cane as he walked along. He briefly looks down at me before walking past me, heading back down the hall to where the twins were standing. I look over my shoulder at him as he pulls off the tip of his cane, revealing a sharp blade before flinging it across the now back to normal alpha twins' cheeks.

No one says a word as Deucalion turns back around and walks back over to me, stopping as the twins continued to walk out of the school. "Corey...nice to see you once again. I do hope you're fitting back into society better after being dead and all. It's a shame you came back just in time for us to arrive in beacon hills...oh well. At least you'll get to meet everyone before they all die."

"You're not going to win," I say sternly, trying to scavenge up what little confidence I had left. "Derek won't ever kill his pack to join you...and I sure as hell won't join you either."

Deucalion laughs then, but it was more evil sounding than it should have. "You will in time, Corey. Especially after you lose the ones you love most. This was a nice talk...I'll see you around."

He smiles at me one last time before turning and walking off, Jade right beside him. She wraps her arm and intertwines it with his own, looking as if she was leading him down the hall herself. I quickly look back at Scott and Isaac as they sit there baffled, trying to grasp what just happened.

I guess Deucalion just declared war.

Why not update my favorite story on my birthday?

Corey and Allison just can't catch a break, can they? Always getting interrupted during their make-out scenes like wtf, go away.

But thoughts on Jade and Allison? Is someone a little jealous...?

Don't forget to comment and vote guys (:
