10. Switch Up

Present

"No way," Cisco breathes as Barry and I stand in front of him, now back at S.T.A.R. labs. We were trying to explain what had happened and Cisco was still hesitant to believe either of us. "So Barry is in Raven's body and Raven is in Barry's body, correct?"

"Yes!" Barry yells, only it was my voice. "I have boobs, Cisco!"

Cisco holds his hands out before folding them, pointing at Barry. "So if you are actually Barry, what do I keep stashed away in the bottom of my sock drawer?"

"Licorice," he says, not missing a beat. "I figured that out after I had stayed over one night a few months ago. You told me that you kept it there for easy access."

That convinced Cisco then. "Oh my God, it is you, Barry!"

"How in the hell are we supposed to fix this?" I say then, still not getting used to the fact that I sounded like a man. "We don't even know who did this to us!"

Cisco gives me a look before walking back around to the control panel, typing away for some reason I wasn't quite sure. As I stood there waiting for an answer, I felt incredibly awkward. The more I thought about the fact that I was in Barry's body, the more uncomfortable I felt...mostly because we were on a date just a few minutes ago and it was like I was vulnerable...it was hard to explain.

As I stand there waiting for Cisco to say something, I couldn't help but look over at Barry in my body. It was so strange to be able to see my own body through someone else's eyes, and it was an experience that I wish I didn't have the privilege of having.

"Can you two break it down for me one last time what exactly happened?" Cisco states then, continuing to type away on the computer. "Maybe we can figure out who the meta was that did this to you two."

I take a deep breath before speaking first. "Well, Barry and I were out on our date-"

"Wait, this was a date?" Cisco grins then, bitting his bottom lip. I give him a look before he's quickly composing himself. "Sorry, continue."

I clear my throat again. "Anyways, we were dancing when a police officer came into the room and pointed a gun at everyone. He demanded for everyone to put their jewelry into a pile."

"All of which while holding the gun to a person's head," Barry cuts me off with my own voice.

Cisco holds out his hands. "Wait, you two were there the whole time and didn't act during any of this?"

"I wanted to assess the situation," Barry corrects Cisco. "We both were ready to act if the gun was fired. Something felt off about it all, and I wanted to know why."

"Also, I noticed a girl in the corner of the room with a mask over her head during all of this," I tell Cisco and Barry. "She looked terrified, even though I could only see her eyes. She kept repeating over and over again in a familiar voice, 'this isn't me...that isn't me.'"

Cisco raises his eyebrows to this. "Then what happened?"

"Then we followed the officer outside, and by that point, he had the same girl with the mask on her head. He was dragging her away from the scene when we got there. He must have gotten scared of us, because then he dropped the bag of jewelry and ran the opposite way."

I interrupt Barry. "After Barry put he officer in handcuffs, he kept saying that he didn't do anything. He kept blaming it on the girl..."

"And then she grabbed us and this mess happened," Barry finishes for me as he fades off, thinking the same thing as me. "She's the meta, right? But how do we know that it was truly them in that body?"

"Here's what I'm thinking," Cisco types more on the computer. "This meta switched bodies with that officer before robbing everyone in that building. That way, their true identity was hidden, and they could assess the area easier by taking a body with a higher authority. After stealing everything, the meta grabbed the girl, the body that she was previously in, and right before switching you two, she switched back into the girl's body. Am I correct?"

"That sounds about right," I nod my head, crossing my arms at how crazy it sounded. "But we don't even know who the girl was. We couldn't see her face."

Cisco holds up his finger. "But you could see her eyes, and that's enough to figure out her identity. Barry doesn't have this feature yet, but I put a little camera on your suit, Raven, so I have footage of her eyes."

I look over at the screen then as Cisco throws up her image, causing a half smile crack across my face. I was glad to know that we had a lead...which meant getting out of Barry's body faster.

"Now all I have to do is scan her eyes and let it run through our system to figure out who she really is," Cisco tells the two of us as he puts his hands behind his head. "It should take about and hour-"

"Identified," the computer says then as Cisco leans forwards, surprised.

"Well that was faster than I had thought," he raises his eyebrows. "Now let's see who this body switching meta is-"

When he clicks on the next page, I was the one most surprised to find out who our meta really was. Up on the screen was a photo of my own face...my eyes and all.

"What the what?" Barry says, shaking his head. "This isn't right, Cisco. How could it be Raven-"

"It's not our Raven," Cisco says in awe. "It's our earth one version of Raven."

"But how is that possible? Raven on this earth died of cancer..." he fades off then, realizing what he just said. "Flashpoint changed that though...another thing that was my fault."

All of this was a lot to take in. "So basically we need to find my doppleganger and then hopefully she'll switch us back?"

"I think that's our best and only lead for the time being," Cisco says. "I can try and work on solving this problem myself though just in case something goes wrong. Until then, you two are going to be stuck like that."

Barry and I look across the room at one another, giving each other doubtful looks. "Looks like you get to have boobs for a little while longer."

I didn't sleep well at all last night. Usually, it was my nightmares or something else keeping me awake, but this time, it was the fact that I wasn't in my own skin. I couldn't describe how strange I felt; of course I like Barry a lot, but seeing through his eyes wasn't something that I expected to experience on our first real date.

Another thing that kept me awake was the fact that my own doppleganger was the one to do this. Of course, I've seen dopplegangers of myself before, but never have I come across one that has been a villain...like how I used to be. It felt like I was looking back at myself from the past.

When morning came however, I wasn't expecting the long day of events that were soon to follow.

I stir awake just before I hear a familiar ringtone coming from somewhere in the room. When I sit up to find out where, I look down on the ground and find a pair of Barry's pants lying there, the pocket of it vibrating. He must have had it in there before we switched bodies. I quickly grab the phone before it stops ringing, seeing that it was captain Singh calling.

"Barry Allen!" I hear him scream into the other end of the phone, causing me to almost jump out of my skin--well, Barry's skin. "You better get your ass to work in ten minutes! Did you forget you're testifying at a court case today?"

I choke, not sure what to say. "Uh yes, sorry Captain. I'll get there as fast as I can-"

"You better," he says bitterly before hanging up the phone, leaving me confused and panicked. I've never even been to a court case before; how am I supposed to act like Barry and go to one?

The next thing I know, I'm flashing out of bed and down the hall, straight to my room. When I open the door, I find Barry sitting there in my bed, a pillow over his stomach. He quickly looks up at me with my eyes, a questioning look on my face.

"Why do you have a pillow on your stomach?" I ask, forgetting the issue at hand for a moment.

He sits up then, shaking his head. "How do you girls sleep with boobs? They're annoying. The pillow made me feel like I didn't have any."

I raise an eyebrow. "Um okay...but listen, I have a problem. Captain Singh called you and said that you needed to be there at work for a court case?"

His eyes grow wide. "Oh, I forgot about that. But, I can't go while I'm stuck in your body! You have to go, Raven-"

"What!" I screech, eyes wide. "How am I supposed to go? I don't even know what a forensic scientist does! I'm just going to call him back and tell him I'm sick-"

He gets up out of bed then. "Raven, you can't! This court hearing is for one of the metas that was fighting during the meta-pocolypse. I-I mean you-need to be there to prove him guilty."

"How am I supposed to do that?" I throw my hands into the air.

Barry gives me a half little smirk in that moment. "I think I have an idea."

I give him a look back. "Oh boy."
