From the previous night's incident to the next day...
I was sleeping in my room. Thank goodness I was just in a deep sleep, not having any weird nightmares. I slowly woke up as I felt a tingling sensation of heat over my face.
When I opened my eyes, I saw her on a chair next to my small bed, her head on the edge of the bed. She was peacefully sleeping.
I smiled as I realized that she was with me the entire night, bandaging my wounds and checking my temperature since I had a mild fever. I gently touched my forehead and found the fever had long gone.
I slowly sat up, trying not to wake her. I could still feel a tingling sensation in my legs from the killer's attack last night. A sense of relief washed over me as I recalled the incident. I finally saved myself from getting killed again. I don’t know if I’ll fall into danger again, but for now, I can relax a bit.
As I was lost in thought, I suddenly heard footsteps heading toward me with not too rushed, just a little fast.
Then the door to my room opened, revealing Celestria. Worry and stress were clearly visible on her face as she stepped inside and shut the door behind her.
I quickly straightened up in bed as I greeted her. Elsa stirred in her sleep, waking up. When she spotted Celestria, she immediately stood up, excused herself, and left the room.
Celestria’s eyes were fixed on me as she asked, "Are you okay, Fiana? As soon as I heard what had happened last night, I rushed here!"
She sat on the chair next to my bed and placed her hand on my arm. I softly smiled and replied, "I am alright. Leon also helped me save myself from that intruder."
Celestria’s smile widened a bit at the mention of Leon. "Thank goodness he arrived to save you. I can't bear the thought of losing you. You're the only real friend I’ve made here. So promise me you’ll take care of yourself too," she said, gently squeezing my hands.
I smiled, squeezing her hands back. "Sure, I will take care of myself. I promise."
Just as I finished speaking, we heard a yelling voice of a woman.
"Celestria, where are you? Quickly come here. Now!"
Celestria’s facial expression changed to one of fear. She quickly masked it with a smile and said, "Take care of yourself. I have to go."
She turned and exited the room, shutting the door behind her. I began to wonder who that woman could be. As I was thinking, a thought struck my mind. Is she Celestria’s stepmother?
Yes, she could be. No doubt, she’s the only one who keeps yelling at her, just like a typical stepmom in a story. I sighed as I tied back my hair and stood up from the bed.
I wondered what she was yelling about today. I took a step toward the door, and just as I was about to open it, I heard a thud—the sound of something falling behind me.
I immediately turned around, my eyes widening in a mix of confusion and fear as a chill ran down my spine.
A box lay on the floor, fallen from who knows where, but one thing was certain: they had sent me another message. One I wasn’t ready to read, no matter what it said.
But still, I leaned down and picked it up. The box was plain-looking, nothing special. My heart pounded in my chest as I debated whether to open it or leave it behind.
My curiosity outweighed my fear. I took a deep breath and slowly opened the box. My suspicions were right. Inside, there was a note.
I took it out and began to read:
Dear Gina,
Congratulations. You made it! You deserve a break, I know, but sorry, Gina. Even though you have escaped the author-planned death, Fiana’s death has been reshuffled. The only chance to save yourself is...
You have to save someone from death.
Good luck!
My hands trembled slightly as I held yet another enigmatic note. What the hell is this? I knew this person was going to play another game with me. But save me from what?
I wanted to scream like a madman, but instead I chuckled bitterly and threw the box and note to the floor. As they struck the ground, they disappeared into thin air.
I laughed bitterly again and muttered, "Yes, disappear your note again!"
Trying to compose myself, I sighed and stepped out the door. As I walked down the hallway, I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around and was greeted by Elsa’s smiling face.
"Are you feeling better, Fiana?" she asked gently, walking beside me.
I nodded, forcing a smile. Then I glanced around and spotted Amble’s personal maid rushing down the hallway, carrying new dresses in her hands.
I turned to Elsa and asked, "By any chance, is there a party here?"
Elsa shook her head. "No, but Ms. Celestria and Ms. Amble were invited to a party held by Mrs Valeran."
I nodded, trying to remember the party from when I read the webtoon. The party was held by the Duke's mother, but the only thing that’s different now is that, at that time, Fiana had already died.
But I don’t know how long I’ll be alive.
