iii. how about we call it even
Upon entering the history classroom on Monday, Rory instantly made a beeline to where Kira was standing.
All the brunette could think about in the weekend was how Lydia had acted at her house party and Rory had to make sure she was okay. Seeing is Kira was the one to help Rory out by looking after Lydia when she couldn't anymore, she figured one of the newer students in Beacon Hills was her best option to see how the strawberry blonde was doing.
"Kira," Rory uttered the petite girl's name as she came up close to Kira. Rory hadn't realized that Scott was in fact standing with her—but this didn't deter the brunette from asking what she had been wondering the entire weekend.
Kira and Scott both turned at hearing Rory's voice—Scott's eyebrows rose in surprise whereas Kira simply smiled.
"Is Lydia okay? I know it sounds stupid to ask but I just wanted to make sure that everything was fine."
"She's okay," Kira reassured the rather flustered looking girl. After everything that Rory had done for Lydia—sticking by her when everyone else was dealing with supernatural issues—Kira actually felt grateful for her presence at the party. "It's just some stuff going on at home, she told me to tell you that she was sorry."
Rory waved that notion off almost immediately. Despite always thinking that Lydia Martin was a bitch, the strawberry blonde had made it quite obvious to Rory at the party that she was anything but. "I don't need all the details, just knowing that she's fine is all I wanted. Tell her not to worry about, she owes me nothing."
It was a selfless act on Rory's part that she helped Lydia despite only talking to her for the first time that Friday, and Scott recognized that. He didn't think many people that knew Lydia their whole life would try to care for her when she was stunned into silence from a banshee revelation. Kira had caught him up on what Rory had done for their friend while they were dealing with Liam. "Seriously, thank you. It was really good of you to look after her. We're all grateful, Rory."
The gratitude in his voice made Rory smile. She didn't think it was that big a thing she did—seeing someone in need of her help, whether she had known them a day or ten years, wasn't something she would ever walk away from. "It's okay, really. I should probably apologize since my stupid brother was the one that made the party happen—he invited the whole of his year. So, on behalf of him, I'm sorry."
"How about we call it even?" Kira suggested, looking between both Rory and Scott who nodded at the prospect.
It was a messed up night, and they both felt incredibly guilty that Rory got caught up in it. With Liam now being a werewolf, Scott couldn't help but think that the brunette was going to only get dragged along with them further. He didn't want that for her—he wished there was someway he knew it could be stopped.
The familiar shrill of the school bell rang throughout the classroom then, signalling to everyone that class was to start.
Rory pulled her side strapped bag on her shoulder and moved to make her way to her usual seat at the front of the class.
"Wait," Rory came to a halt when a hand latched around her wrist. The brunette spun around to see that Scott was the one stopping her from going to her seat. He smiled at her, his cheeks slightly rosy at his actions. "Sit with us. Lydia talked you up all weekend, I want to know what all the fuss it about."
Rory watched Scott almost cautiously, trying to figure out what he meant by this. Like usual, his features were honest and Rory was sure she could see all of his intentions in his eyes. She didn't know if he was capable of anything bad, everything about Scott Mccall screamed good guy and it wasn't very often that she saw that.
"Okay," Rory answered, placing her bag down at the seat Scott stood next to. "I hope I don't disappoint."
"I'm sure you won't."
Scott took the seat next to Rory and Kira happily sat behind the brunette, sending her a small smile. It was Stiles that came in slightly late, but sat behind Scott anyway, eyeing the dark skinned girl who was sitting next to his best friend.
Mr. Yukimura had started the class when Stiles lent over so that he was closer to Kira. The boy—as per usual dressed in a plaid shirt and jeans—whispered to the kistune as he gestured between Rory and Scott sitting in front of them. "When did that happen?"
"It hasn't yet," Kira whispered back, not worried that Scott could easily hear what her and the Stilinski boy were discussing. "But it will soon."
Stiles smiled at that.

"Your friends are really weird—and when I say weird I truly mean it."
Rory eyed her brother curiously as he began to walk beside her in the school parking lot. Not only by what he was saying, but the fact that he was following her to where her car was parked. "What do you think you're doing?"
Mason fought the instinct to roll his eyes. Rory even went as far as to stop walking, planting her converse covered feet in the middle of where students milled around to give her brother all her attention. "C'mon, Ror. Can you please let me ride with you?"
Rory spun on her toes so that she could spot the bright, yellow bus that many younger looking kids filed into. Her finger pointed at the vehicle as she looked at her younger brother dead in the eye, their nearly black eyes meeting. "That's your ride. If I had to bus until I got my license then so do you."
An audible groan filled the air then and Rory continued to walk in the direction of her car. Footsteps followed after her, which didn't surprise the brunette in the slightest. "Your friends really are weird, don't ignore me saying that."
"What friends?" Rory asked, she continued to walk as she spoke. She didn't know which of her friends Mason was talking about, considering she didn't exactly class the few people she hung out with at lunch to be her real friends.
"Scott and Stiles," Mason answered.
That made Rory spin around again to face her little brother. Mason looked slightly taken aback at the abrupt stop and the look of confusion on the eldest Hewitt's face.
"What did they do?" Rory asked, only to simply get words out. She didn't think the two were her friends, but perhaps it was heading that way. She was however curious as to what the pair did that made Mason think they were so weird. There was something about Scott and Stiles that intrigued her, a lot of what went on around the two was a mystery and one that Rory wouldn't mind getting a few clues towards.
Mason only smiled sweetly at his sister. "I'll tell you if you give me a ride home."
Rory let out a sigh and narrowed her eyes. Mason only continued to grin at the girl knowing that he had said the right thing to make her drive him home. "I hate you so much."
"Why would you be giving someone a ride home if you hate them?"

Only five minutes into their journey and Mason had already explained to Rory why he thought Scott and Stiles were weird.
For starters they were hanging out with Liam a whole lot, which didn't make sense due to the major age difference and that only a week ago he was sure they didn't know the freshman existed. What was weirder was that today when Liam was getting obviously angry during his confrontation with old team and classmate, Brett, Scott and Stiles had been the first people there to pull him away.
"That's not that weird in the grand scheme of things," Rory tried to reason with her brother. Her eyes were trained on the road and hands gripped the steering wheel to her small car. "I swear you have done weirder."
"It is totally weird," Mason argued. His hands flew around in frustration at his sister trying to tell him otherwise. "Don't play it off, Aurora."
"Don't call me Aurora or your ass will be out of this car in seconds," Rory threatened half-heartedly, although dead serious about the use of her full name. It was something Mason always pulled out when he got frustrated. That meant Rory was used to it, but didn't accept it nonetheless.
Mason relented. "Fine, but you have to admit that it's weird. Why in the hell would two juniors care about a freshman so much? And why all of a sudden?"
This wasn't the first time that Rory had thought about not only Scott and Stiles, but that whole groups brand new obsession with her younger brother's best friend. She knew that Liam was a good guy, but that didn't explain why they were all of a sudden lining up to hang out with him. "I know it's weird, I have been thinking it for a while."
"Can't you just ask them why? You're their friend."
"I have known them a couple of days," Rory admitted honestly, although she was sure that Mason already knew that. "I wouldn't exactly call that friendship."
"It can't hurt to ask," Mason offered. Rory supposed it wouldn't, but that didn't mean she instantly wanted to. Of course she wanted the answer, yet she didn't want to be nosy and overstep any boundaries around Scott and Stiles. Particularly Scott.
Yet somehow she knew that Scott would most likely try his best to tell her if she was to ask. That was just the person he was—pleasing everyone made him happy.
"Yeah," Rory thought aloud. "I might just try and ask."
And she knew that if she was going to, the lacrosse game tonight that she and Mason would be attending would be the perfect place to do it. Scott would be there with the answers.
