"Okay, I'm done. I need to go to the toilet... try not to mess up my packing." Kayla closed the door behind her.

"Don't worry, I won't!" I called out after her. I grabbed my laptop and signed into my inbox. I quickly clicked on the compose button before drafting an email to my internet best friend- Amanda.

Dear Amanda,
Hello, it's me, Hailey. I'm getting ready to leave San Francisco. I've just about finished packing my bags and I'm about to head off to the airport. I'll send you another email when I land in Los Angeles. I'm really excited to really start summer vacation but I'm way more excited to meet you in Montana! I'll attach lots of photos and maybe we can Skype before I board my flight?
Cheers,
Hails

I hit the send button just as I heard the toilet flush. I quickly gathered up the rest of my clothes and stuffed them into my already-crowded suitcase. Kayla slapped a printed out copy of our trip itinerary onto my suitcase. "I won't be surprised if you forgot to bring your underwear. Luckily, I printed one out for you", she teased. I glanced at the itinerary that was now sliding off my suitcase. Of course, it had to be Kayla verified. The words were printed on glossy paper, with a border consisting of ribbons and glitter. I rolled my eyes at how she had managed to turn a normal sheet of paper into something that looked like a fancy invitation to someone's wedding.

As we walked through the hallway Kayla's younger sister- Layla- walked out of her room. She was wearing braided pigtails with a sparkly barrette in her sandy blonde hair. Although the top of her head was all neat, everything else wasn't. Her bright yellow tee and dark blue overalls were splattered with green paint, and her tiny hands were painted red. She looked adorable, as usual. I squatted down to give her a little hug and a pat on her head. She looked at Kayla and I with wide, curious eyes and asked me, "where are you and sissy going?" I stroked her blonde hair and told her that we would be travelling the world and wouldn't be back for a couple of weeks. Her bright eyes widened as she squealed in delight. "So you're explorers? Cool! I was reading a book about some and-" She was cut off because Kayla was pulling me towards the door. "We're going to be late", she explained.

"Bye Layla! See you soon!" I called out, waving. She waved back with one chubby arm whilst the other clutched several action figures.

The reason why I love Kayla's car is because it is a convertible, meaning the top can slide back to reveal a beautiful sky. I love the feeling of how the wind passes through our hair, flicking it into our faces as we giggle like little school girls. Well, technically we are, but we're not so little anymore.

It was a really sunny day so I suggested that we leave the top of the car open. Kayla agreed so we buckled up our seat belts, cranked up the volume on the speakers, and sped off. As we sang loudly off-tune to Drake's One Dance I sneaked a glance at Kayla. The sun's rays rippled off her glowing blonde hair, leaving it a little more sunkissed than normal. Her usually pale skin was now flushed from the battering wind, making her cheeks a nice rosy pink. She was my definition of beautiful, at least on the outside. Then she turned around and gave me a worried smile, and I realised I had been staring for way too long. I gave her an embarrassed smile before looking the other way.

When we arrived at the San Francisco airport we immediately saw two boys with identical faces. They both had strong jaw lines and high cheekbones; as well as thick, brown, curly hair and defined muscles. We instantly recognised Harper and Dave Miller.

As Kayla parked her car the boys ran to us. "Do you need some help?" Dave asked, flexing his already bulging muscles. Kayla rolled her eyes before calling out in a sweet, sugary voice.

"Sure, thank you so much." Then she hopped out the car with her blood red stilettos and sashayed off. Needless to say, there was a lot of sexual tension between them. Dave frowned and gathered all of Kayla's bags together before running after her like the silly goose he is.

That left just Harper and I. He smiled at me, flashing his pearly white teeth. His sea green eyes left me wandering around in them. Then he spoke in a low, masculine voice. "Do you need any help?" That snapped me out of my reverie. I blushed then shook my head.

"I'm fine." It came out as a squeak, not what I wanted. I gathered my courage and tried again. "That's okay, I'm fine", it came out bolder, more daring. That was better.

Harper grinned. "Nah, I insist." I shrugged, not really caring either way.

"Go ahead", I waved my hand at the remaining luggage. There was only one medium sized navy blue suitcase left, and Harper picked it up with ease. I narrowed my eyes. "You do know it's a wheely one right?" He arched an eyebrow. I sighed, "there's a little handle at the top that you can pull out so you don't need to carry it."

"Oh." He looked so flustered that I had to resist the urge to kiss his cheek. He looked like an adorable five-year-old. I chose to laugh instead. He gave me an embarrassed smile. I caught his eye and smiled back too.

"Hey lovebirds!" We snapped back to reality and grinned at each other before turning to the voice. Drew stood by the airport entrance, waving to us. Kayla stood nearby texting on her phone. "Hurry up, we don't have all day- and I think little-miss-bossy pants here is getting tired of me." Kayla looked up from her phone.

"When have I not been bored of you?" She said sarcastically.

A/N ✧*ೃ༄ ✧Hey guys! I hope y'all enjoyed the first chapter of this story. I'm really excited to write this. Sorry for the short chapter. It's kinda just supposed to introduce the main characters, and cover a bit of Hailey's crush on Harper. I don't know if I should make them end up together or not. About the whole Hailey staring at Layla thing, it's because Hailey thinks Kayla is really beautiful. No, she does not think of herself as ugly, just average. By the way, there may be some errors as I've only edited it briefly. Also, if you have any negative opinions about me choosing One Dance for the song they listen to then I don't want to hear it. I don't particularly like the song but when I searched up 'popular songs' on the internet the number one song was that one.
