blake
november 4th, 2017
walking into mikey's room, i see his degrees hanging on the wall along with his diploma. he worked really hard for dual degrees in college, getting both his physician's and nursing degrees at once. he graduated a few months ago and got a job at the hospital not long ago, but he's been sick for the last few days.
"how're we feeling today?" i ask, sitting on the end of his bed.
"like shit, but i'll survive. we're still going to the festival, and you can't say no." he replies, pointing a finger at me to show his seriousness.
"alright, alright, i get it. are you going to change, or just go in what you're wearing?"
"i'll change, just give me a few minutes."
"alright, i'll see you downstairs in a bit. i'm making pancakes for breakfast, how many do you want?"
"two," he mumbles, walking into the bathroom. i walk downstairs and after a few minutes, i hear the shower start.
"at least i'll have time to get breakfast together," i say quietly to myself. getting out the pancake mix and the eggs, and by the time i've finished cooking, mikey is walking down the stairs.
"take a seat, i'll bring you your plate in a minute." i say as i make two plates of pancakes and eggs.
joining him at the table, i put his plate in front of him. after a few minutes, i notice mikey is being unusually quiet. even when he gets sick he's still usually pretty talkative.
"alright, what going on in that brain of yours?" i say, dropping my fork on the plate.
"what do you mean," he gives me a confused look. "i'm just eating."
"but you're being pretty much silent, mikey, and you're not usually this quiet." i pointed out.
"fine, i was going to ask about noah, but i don't want to be nosy or anything," he added, looking down at his plate with a frown.
when mikey had moved in with me, he finally told me about what it was like living with mom. neither of our parents had done very well in the parenting department, but me and mikey always try to remind ourselves it could have been worse. we've also agreed that we don't have the best coping methods. he told me about how our mother was always angry at him for no particular reason, always saying it was because he was "annoying" and "talked to much." this led him to struggle with talking for a few years, even if he was talking to me. he still has his moments when he becomes reserved, but he's a lot more talkative now.
"you're not being nosy, it's a simple question. it's alright," i reply with a smile. "everything's good with noah. they got into town a few days ago and he brought me lunch when i was at work and we hung out for a while till my break was over. it was nice,"
"good, good," he grins, taking a breath. i give him a confusing look, only to hear him ask "so when's the wedding," in a sarcastically teasing tone, clasping his hands together in front of him.
"there's the mikey i know," i grin. "and there won't be a wedding, me and noah are only friends." i say, giving him a look and grabbing out plates and cups, putting them into the dishwasher. "we better get going soon, you still up for it?"
"always." he replies with a smirk "plus, ice nine kills is playing today too, and there is no way i am missing that,"
"that's valid, let's go."

on the way to the festival, mikey had played memphis may fire's new album "the light i hold".
as soon as i parked, noah ran over to the car with four people not far behind him. i recognized all of them but one, which was a girl with long blonde hair.
noah wraps me in a tight hug, only for it to end seconds later, which i will admit i was a bit sad about. noah gives nice hugs.
"blake, mikey, this is brooklyn," noah says, bringing forward the girl i saw earlier. "she's been helping out our manager with pretty much everything since he's been sick recently, and she's also jolly's little sister."
"holy shit. it's been years," i say, shocked.
"blake!" she yells, tackling me into a hug. "how have you been? why didn't you tell me you were leaving when you moved?"
"i've been alright, and i didn't tell anyone because i didn't want word getting back to jason that i was planning to leave," i inform, getting off the ground to dust off my clothes and giving her a proper hug. "i didn't know you had a brother though,"
"yup, i lived with our aunt here in america though. he stayed in sweden," she smiles.
"she's so pretty," i hear mikey mutter from beside me. "focus," i mumble to him, elbowing him in the ribs.
"if you're going to be here to support the band, you're going to need some merch, right?" noah questions before i can say anything else, pulling me away from the group and over to what looked like to be their merch table.
"well, i guess i do. do i get to pick?" i ask, looking around at the different hoodies and t-shirts that are on the tables.
"no, yours is on my bunk on the bus. i'm getting mikey's right now, then we'll get yours." he says as he takes out a black shirt with the words "bad omens" on it. "here it is. can you give this to him? i have to talk with bryan about a few things for the show tonight,"
"yeah, sure." i agree, taking the shirt he was giving me. i began to walk back to where everyone else was, making it about halfway before folio took the shirt out of my hand and put it in my car, which i now realize i forgot to lock when we first arrived.
"thank's folio." i say as he walks away towards the stage, giving me a smile and nod in response. "hey nick, would you mind directing me to where bryan is?"
"yeah, of course. if you walk down the lane of merch tents, you'll end up at the stage, and just go behind the stage. there's a parking lot there that all the buses are, and he said he'd be there before soundcheck, which is in about 20 minutes. you should find him, but if you want i can go with you in case he's not there." he replies as he animatedly gives me the directions.
"that'd be nice, thank you." i say as we start walking. "i'm sure you've been told this before, but you're a very kind person."
"i do occasionally, but it's still very appreciated. thank you."
we walk in a comfortable silence the rest of the way, and after a few minutes we see noah and bryan standing next to a shiny black bus. bryan tells noah something, to which he nods are starts to walk towards me and nick.
"blake, we also have a few other things to grab from the bus, that is, if you wouldn't mind helping us out." he asks.
"of course, yeah, let's go."

me and noah had gotten my hoodie, which was about three times too big for me so i assume it had been his, and the box of stuff that the boys had needed for tonights show. we join the group again for awhile, since bad omens is set to play in a few hours. nick had went back to the group once we saw noah, saying he had a few things to discuss with jolly. standing in between my brother and noah, i noticed mikey was zoning out completely.
"so, what exactly happened while i was gone?" i nudge his shoulder.
"i got her number," he mumbled.
"i'm glad. we used to be close friends, but when i moved, we drifeted. if she's still the brooklyn i knew then, i think you'll both be good for eachother. she's an extremely nice and caring person, you'll never find anyone else like her." i say, reminiscing on our old friendship.
"you really won't, but just remember to be good to her. i will not hesitate to beat your ass if i have to, mikey, trust me." jolly says with a jokingly serious tone, walking away after like he said nothing at all.
"okay, no, he's definetly my favorite member of bad omens. sorry guys," i laugh out
"hey, what the hell blake," noah says, slapping a hand over his heart in offense. "how could you?"
"oh shut it, you know i'm only joking." i roll my eyes. "folio is obviously my favorite," i joke
"hell yeah i am," he comments from the other side of the group. noah just rolls his eyes in return and offers for us to go find a place to sit down, which we all agree to.
time passes quicker than we expected, and before we know it, it's time for the boys to go up on stage. watching them play is truly amazing, even if their set is short. you can physically see the effort and work they put into their music to make it enjoyable for everyone who listens, and i love that about thhem. they're all amazing poeple individually, which in my opinion, make their music even better.
as soon as their set is done, they all rush off stage to go shower and within twenty minutes, they're all with me, mikey, and brooklyn, in the crowd for ice nine kills' set.
"so, what now?" mikey asks quietly once the concert is over.
"boardwalk?" i question almost inaudibly, still thinkning about what just happened to me. i've listened to ice nine kills for years, but i've never had the chance to see them live. today really was a dream come true.
"i'd vote for the boardwalk, it sounds like fun," i hear a new, yet extremely familar voice say from behind me. mikey looks behind me first, and i see a look of shock cross his face.
i turn around to see what suprised him so much, and all i can mutter are the words "holy shit."
"spencer charnas," mikey starts, walking over to stand next to me. "it's so awesome to meet you," he finished, shaking spencer's hand.
"likewise. noah and nick told me you two are fans and i figured i'd come meet you guys."
"that's incredible of you, man, thank you." i say, mentally faceplaming at how i just addressed him. i shake his hand, and in the time of the short interaction, everyone else in the group had agreed for us all to go to the boardwalk. noah offers an invite to spencer and the rest of his band if he wants to go with us, and he agrees. as me and mikey start to walk towards my car, blake asks if mikey and noah can switch, so mikey goes with the band instead of me.
"yeah, that's fine, but i have to head to my house to grab something real quick if that's alright." i say, directing the last part at noah. he shrugs in agreeance and i look at jolly for the reassurance to leave since he seems like the most responsible one of the bunch. he nods at me, and that's all i need before me and noah pull out of the parking lot and start the drive to my house.
"what do you need to get, if you don't mind me asking?" noah asks after a few minutes of silence.
"i need to change my clothes, and if i remember correctly, your birthday was a few days ago?"
"yeah, why?"
"i got you something." i say with a grin.

i changed how i'm going to be uploading new chapters, and it will no longer be in acts. i'll still separate the years that way, but i won't upload multiple chapters at once. it took too long to write it all and then upload, so i'll upload them as i finish the next chapter after.
i would also love to remind y'all that I'm working on two other stories while still writing rollercoaster, so it may be a little while between uploads
