Alisa: Hello! I am Alisa. Can you introduce yourself? :)
Alex (MiniMoxx): Hey! I'm Alex! Nice to meet you <3
Alisa: Nice to meet you too! When did you realise you wanted to write stories?
Alex: Probably when I was 8. I started out writing poetry - it was really bad, like as a child you don't know much XD haha. But that's definitely when I knew I wanted to create new stories and worlds etc.
Alisa: Ohh, that's really interesting! If you don't mind me asking, do you still write poetry?
Alex: I actually dont! :( I really want to, but idk everything I try writing just turns into a novel HAHA. I did write poetry for my degree though, which is up as a poetry collection on my profile. I loved writing it so much.
Alisa: I actually felt that, whenever I see movies, I rewrite the whole plot, XD. What were your favorite scenes to write in your books?
Alex: XD SAME! It's so difficult :P
OOOH, my favourite scenes are usually romantic ones. Not even sex scenes, but like those intimate "I love you" moments. Whether it's a kiss, or a declaration of love, or proposal etc. I love getting right into the emotions of it all.
I also quite like dramatic scenes, so when there's a confrontation or something XD I love writing drama ;) heh
Alisa: Omg, I love those kind of scenes, it's just too cute to read and trust me, I am a very dramatic person, if you get to know me :D
How long have you been writing?
Alex: Hahahaha I LOVE IT I'm the same ;)
I've been writing since I was 8. But I have been writing novels since I was 12 ;)
That's fantastic :D same here, I started writing short stories around that age too. How do you select the names of your characters?
Alex: Amazing!!! Ahhh!
So at the moment I seem to have an obsession with nature themed names. So I'll google mature themed female names (my mcs tend to me female)
Otherwise I'll use a name generator until I find one or two I like and then I'll see which fits better to my planned character ;)
That's an awesome trick! I use my favourite names and pick a random surname from Google. Yesh, yesh I love MCs which are female ^_^
What inspires you to write these books?
Alex: I love it!
Usually something will pop up in the news, or I take a situation from real life or whatever and then apply a twist to it. Sometimes I'll be planning it for days writing down random twists or what could make the main situation unique. Sometimes, it'll all just come to me in a dream or when I'm usually in the shower (weird I know LOL).
Some novels I've written have some sort of therapy in it for me as well, but they tend to be the ones I take inspiration from real life for.
So inspiration can come from ANYWHERE LMAO. I'm hopeless XD
Alisa: That's almost exactly what I do, ahhh. My ideas come in midnights while reading a book. Or from random things XD. Would you and your MC get along? You know, like friends :)
Alex: Literally, it's a curse and a blessing at the same time XD LMAO
I'd like to think most of them would be, but then their actions in their stories sometimes frustrates me, and I really get angry at them for their decisions XD But then that's what being human is :P hehe
Alisa: Yep!
That's me when I am reading a book and the MC makes a bad choice XD. What was the hardest scene for you to write?
Alex: Hahaha literally!
Oh the hardest scene was probably in my book My Blossoming Redemption where my character meets a family member she never thought she would (I don't want to give spoilers lmao) and it's just so emotional. I had to kind of find the right words for that conflicting "I shouldn't be doing this and I don't want to" with the "I want to do this" kinda thing. It was quite challenging lol
Alisa: I might considering reading it after you said that scene is emotional :D How many hours do you spend writing?
Alex: Aww thank you! :D
Every day, I tend to spend 3-4 hours writing, depending on the state of my brain hahaha. But I spend a LOT of time writing XD
Alisa: <33
:0 so many hours, lol. I usually spend time making bios :P How did you handle writer's block?
Alex: hahaha Trust me, I procrastinate SO MUCH. I usually make covers or aesthetics when I do XD
With writer's block, I'll usually go for a long walk or work on something else like a plan for a new novel, or if I have editing to do for example. It'll usually get the words flowing again XD
Alisa: Your covers are absolutely gorgeous! I have been having writer's block for weeks and I am too lazy to write. I usually write on laptop, it's feels weird writing on a phone ;-;
Imagine this: You feel uninspired and you've sat at the computer for an hour without conquering any words. How do you get your creativity flowing?
Alex: Oooh thank you so much! <3 Oh I can imagine! I can't write on the phone! it's just so weird to me. I like to feel it if you know what I mean XD
hmm... usually I have a story-specific playlist, so that tends to inspire me when I'm in a situation like that. Or I'll procrastinate by making graphics. Or I tend to note down plans for later in the story. If I do that that usually helps me because I can think about how they'll get there, which will usually get me writing again XD But if I can't find anything else, I'll usually take a break XD
Alisa: That's great tho! I spend days trying to come up with a chapter -_-
What do you think comes first, the plot or characters?
Alex: For me, it's always the plot. But I think I have some kind of skeleton for the characters when the plot comes to me as well, it's just about putting a name to a face if you know what I mean XD
Alisa: I do understand what you mean :D one last question before the interview ends! What do you like to do when you are not writing?
Alex: Oooh, I tend to play video games, and/or spend time with my husband and son <3
Alisa: That's sweet! Thank you so much for your time and patience! I really enjoyed the interview.
Alex: No worries, thank you so much for your time!!! <3
