Rosepaw chased after Shadepaw, her paws thudding on the ground.
She stop dead in her tracks as she heard a rustle in the bushes as she passed.
Backing up, she stared at the bush for a while.
"I got you." She finally said.
There was a loud sigh and her black pelt padded out.
Rosepaw smirked and crouched down to leap on the slowly backing away Shadepaw, until small white flakes spotted the sky.
"Wait a minute..." Rosepaw said, standing up strait, looking at the white flakes covering her dark friend's pelt.
Shadepaw looked back at her pelt and yipped.
"What is this stuff?!" She said, shaking her fur off.
Both of them looked up at the sky, grey clouds coming closer together.
"I think... THE SKY IS FALLING!" Shadepaw screeched frantically.
Rosepaw's eyes went wide. She couldn't die! She was too young!
"We need to get back to camp, but don't touch the white stuff! It could be poisonous!" Rosepaw said, trying to get on the patches of yellow-green grass without touching any contaminated parts.
Shadepaw followed, and the two burst into camp.
"THE SKY IS FALLING!" They screeched at the same time.
Heads whipped frantically in their direction.
Risingstar looked at the two, their pelts covered in snow. "It's ju-"
"AHH ITS TOUCHING ME!" Shadepaw screeched and started flailing around in attempt to get it off.
"WE'RE GONNA DIE!" Rosepaw said, rolling on the ground.
Risingstar made a weird sound and started laughing, and soon everyone else did too.
Both Shadepaw and Rosepaw froze. "What's so funny?" Rosepaw said, her voice shaky.
"It's snow. It's not going to kill you!" Risingstar said in between laughs.
"But it's making the sky fall!" Shadepaw exclaimed.
"No, it's not. Snow is just frozen rain, it freezes when leaf-bare comes around." Risingstar responded, still chuckling.
The two apprentices looked at each other and stood up. "Uh, yeah.. we knew that!" Rosepaw said sheepishly.
Everyone chuckled until a large gust send snow sailing over the edge of camp.
She shivered as the cold winds blew, sending even more snow in their direction.
"For the first snow, I can tell this will be a pretty harsh leaf-bare." Gooseflight said his fur ruffled.
Darkstorm nodded. "This is the worst first-snow I've ever seen."
Rosepaw sighed.
Well, here we go...
