If Rosa Lived
RT_Strawhat_Ninja: So... What if Rosa lived instead of dying from an illness.

3rd person POV
Rosa smiled at her daughter as she stared in wonder at the crystal in the shop's window. Aka's silver eyes were lit up like stars. Rosa giggled at her little girl.
"Do you see something you like, dear?" Rosa asked her. Aka grinned up at her mother. Her purple hair was being held back by a tan brown ribbon that Sengoku had given to her. Rocinante had scolded his adoptive father, saying he spoiled her too much. Sengoku had merely brushed off Rocinante and given the girl the ribbon anyways.
"Do you think Daddy would like it for his birthday?" Aka asked her mother excitedly. Rosa giggled and rubbed her daughter's head. Aka giggled in reply. Aka bounded off ahead of her mother towards the park the two were heading to for a picnic.
"Aka, stay close to mommy." Rosa hollered after her daughter. Suddenly, a flash of pink caught Rosa's eye. She turned her head and felt her heart stop.
"No! Why is he here? I left him behind ten years ago! This is bad. If he finds that Roci and I married and had a child he'll have a fit. He might hurt my little Aka." Rosa panicked. Her heart spiked when his head turned towards her and a sick grin crossed his face. Rosa turned and ran to where Aka was,
"Aka, honey, you need to hide." Rosa said.
"Why, mommy? What's wrong?" Aka asked. Rosa kissed her head.
"Don't ask questions, just do as I say." Rosa said.
"Mommy? Why is your face pale? Are you sick?" She asked.
"I wasn't aware that you had a child now... Rosa." A voice behind Rosa said. Rosa turned quickly and pushed Aka behind her.
"Sweetie, mommy needs you to run." Rosa said.
"Mommy?" Aka asked.
"RUN!" Rosa yelled. Aka turned and ran as fast as her little legs could carry her. Rosa stared back up at Doflamingo in horror. The tall man grabbed her face.
"That was cruel of you, Rosa. Running away from me like that. You should have just stayed put." He growled lowly. Rosa squirmed trying to get away from him.
"Don't touch me." She spat. Doflamingo clicked his tongue in disappointment.
"Now, now, Rosa. You're smarter than that." He said. Rosa continued to squirm away from him until he grabbed her wrist.
"Mommy!" Aka cried out. Rosa turned and saw her daughter being held by the back of her neck by Diamante.
"No! Let her go!" Rosa screamed.
"Who is her father, Rosa?" Doflamingo demanded. Rosa struggled, trying to get away and save her daughter.
"Let her go!" She yelled. Doflamingo snapped his fingers. Diamante threw Aka in to the ground and pointed a gun with her.
"No! Stop, please! I'll do whatever you want, just leave my husband and Daughter alone! Please!" Rosa cried. Doflamingo looked at Rosa as she despeately tried to break from his grasp and get to her child.
"Anything if we leave the child and her father alone?" He asked.
"Yes, yes! I'll go with you! I won't run, just please, leave them be!" Rosa cried, tears rising to her eyes. Doflamingo tilted her head and forced her to look at him.
"Don't cry, Rosa. I'll keep my end of the deal. We'll all ignore the existence of your husband and child... but only if you become my wife." He said with a sick grin. Rosa bit her lip.
"Fine. At least let me say goodbye to my baby." She whispered.
"Of course." Doflamingo said and released the woman, waving Diamante away from the child.
"Mama!" Aka cried, running to her mother.
"Shhh, shhh, it's okay, sweetie. Mommy has to go away now." Rosa said.
"No!" Aka cried. Rosa gave Aka a kind smile and kissed her head.
"You'll be a good girl for daddy, won't you, baby girl? Take care of Daddy for me, princess. Grow up big and strong, eat all your veggies, listen to Daddy. Be a good girl." Rosa said and kissed her head.
"Mommy!" Aka cried. Rosa let Doflamingo lead her away, Aka chasing after them for a little while, before she finally gave up and ran to the marine base to get her father. Rosa watched as the island grew further and further away as Doflamingo took her back to the North Blue. Tears rolled down her cheeks as she watched the island she had called home since Aka was born eight years ago disappear over the horizon.
Doflamingo grabbed her waist and pulled her back to him.
"Don't cry, my love. You're meant to be a queen. And you will be. You will be my queen." He said to her and forced a kiss on to her lips.
Time skip: 2 years
"Rosa, dear, I have a surprise for you." Doflamingo hummed. Rosa stepped up to her new husband. Doflamingo wrapped his arm around her and pulled her close to him.
"Look who we've finally found after all these years." Doflamingo said and turned his body so she could see. Her heart stopped when she saw the man gaping back at her. She flet tears rising to her eyes. Did Doflamingo find out? No, He wasn't chained or beaten. In fact, he wasn't even in his marine uniform.
"R-Rocinante?" Rosa breathed. Rocinante stared back at Rosa with wide eyes and jaw slack. Doflamingo let Rosa step away from him and towards her true husband. Rosa slowly reached out and cupped the man's face.
"It is you!" She cried and hugged him.
"Come now, little brother, surely you remember our childhood friend, Rosa? Is it any surprise to you that she became my wife?" Doflamingo asked. Slowly, Rocinante wrapped his arms around Rosa and returned the hug. All at once, Rosa felt safe again. Safe in her husband's arms. She hugged him as tight as she could.
"I've missed you, Roci. It's been so long. Where did you run off to, all those years ago?" Rosa asked him the same question she asked him when they met again ten years ago.
"Well, I have business to attend to. I trust you to return her to me when you two finish catching up, Rocinante." Doflamingo said and left the two alone. Rosa began to cry as soon as he was gone.
"Roci... I'm so sorry." She cried.
"Rosa... When Aka told me that a strange man had taken you away, I didn't even think that Doflamingo had found you." He whispered.
"Aka... Is she alright?" Rosa cried. Rocinante held Rosa tight.
"She's fine, love. I left her with Sengoku. She misses her mother." He whispered. Rosa sighed.
"I want to go back, Rocinante. But if I do... He'll kill you. He'll kill her. That's why I left. We made a deal that if I become his wife then he leaves you and Aka alone." She whispered to him. Rocinante cupped his wife's cheek.
"Does he know we-?" He asked. She shook her head.
"He's seen Aka, but he doesn't know you're her father." Rosa whispered.
"It's okay, Rosa. I'm going to put an end to this. And when I do, we can go home. We can be a family again." He whispered to her. Rosa stole a quick kiss from Rocinante, then she returned to Doflamingo.

Rosa looked up from her book as the door opened. A small boy in a spotted hat stood in the door.
"Hello. Can I help you?" She asked. The boy pouted.
"I'm looking for the infirmary." He said. Rosa shut her book and frowned.
"The infirmary? Are you injured?" She asked. He looked away from her. She knelt down before the boy.
"It's alright, let me see." She said softly. The boy held his hand out to her. She saw the small scrape at the edge of his palm.
"Here, let me fix that up for you." She said gently. She picked the boy up and set him on her bed before retrieving a bandage from her private bathroom. After rubbing some disinfectant on the cut, she placed the bandage on his hand.
"There you go. All better." She said softly. She hummed at him.
"What is your name, young man?" She asked softly. He smiled softly up at her.
"Trafalgar Law." He said softly.
"Law. What a lovely name. My name is Rosa." She said and smiled kindly at the boy.
"That's a pretty name." He said. Rosa smiled happily at him.
"I'm glad you think so, Law. Now, what is a little man like you doing in a place like this?" She asked.
"I'm the newest addition to the Donquixote family." Law said. Rosa frowned.
"Doflamingo didn't inform me he was taking in children." Rosa stated with an angry tone.
"Are you Doflamingo's girlfriend or something?" Law asked. Rosa sighed.
"Close... I'm his... wife." She spat out the word bitterly. Though Law didn't seem to notice the bitterness in her tone. He was more shocked to find that Doflamingo had a wife.
"Wait, really?! But you're so kind!" Law said. His eyes widened at his own words and looked at Rosa in fear, thinking she would tell Doflamingo of this. She smiled at the boy.
"You really think I'm kind? How sweet of you. And don't look so afraid. I would never let any harm befall a child." She said and rubbed his head. Law smiled softly at her.
"Where did you come from, Law?" Rosa asked. Law looked down.
"...Flevance..." He said. Rosa frowned at him,
"I see. You've had it tough. And I can see you are fighting the white lead disease as well." She said. Law nodded sadly.
"Well, I don't know how to cure it, but I do have an herbal mix that will slow it a little bit. I can give you a little more time." She offered.
"You can?" He asked. She nodded. She returned to the bathroom and retrieved the herbal mix from the medicine cabinet.
"Here, mix a teaspoon of this with 8 ounces of water and drink it. It slows all illnesses and infections. Though it might make you a little bit sleepy." She said. Law nodded and took the small container. Rosa smiled at him.
"Law, come now, stop bothering Rosa." Doflamingo called from the door. Rosa glared at him over her shoulder.
"He's no bother, Doffy. I don't mind the company of children." Rosa stated bitterly. Doflamingo scowled and Law hid behind Rosa a bit.
"Law, run along and play with the others." Doflamingo said. Rosa smiled at the boy and rubbed is hand.
"You can come back and visit me whenever you feel like, Law. I'd like to get to know you more." She said. Law smiled and blushed lightly at Rosa, before scurrying out of the room, still holding tight to the herbal mix. As soon as he was gone, Rosa turned and gave Doflamingo a harsh stare.
"Children, Doflamingo. You are getting children mixed up in this mess you call a life? Do they at least have a care taker?" She asked harshly.
"None." He said. Rosa released a growl of anger.
"How many are there?" She demanded.
"Baby 5, Buffalo, Dellinger and Law make four." He said. Rosa clentched her fists.
"Four?! You have four little babies out there and no one is taking care for them?! What is wrong with you?! I demand to be the care taker for these children!" Rosa snapped.
"No. You are a queen, not some maid." Doflamingo said.
"You take me away from my own child and won't even allow me to take care of the poor orphans you take in?! You may be able to keep my under your foot, but you can not keep me locked away in this room when there are children out there!" Rosa snapped. Doflamingo caved after that.

"Is that Corazon?" Rosa asked and approached the transponder snail. Doflamingo grinned at her.
"It is. Would you like to speak with him?" Doflamingo asked. Rosa nodded and took the snail.
"Roci? Is Law with you still? Is he well?" Rosa asked. Rocinante tapped his reply.
Yes.
"Good. I'm glad to hear that you both are okay. Have you had any luck?" She asked.
No. But I think when this is all over, I will adopt him.
"That's sweet of you, Roci. I think you would be an excellent father." She said with a smile.
I must go now. Take care of yourself.
"I will. Good bye, Roci." She said with a smile.
"Adopt Law? Oh how wonderful He's such a sweet young boy! And Aka will have an older sibling to look after her." Rosa smiled at the thought.

"You didn't!" Rosa gasped when Doflamingo told her he had killed Rocinante. Her heart shatterd in to millions of pieces.
"I did."
"You bastard! How could you?!" Rosa cried, tears rolling down her cheeks.
"He betrayed us."
"He was your brother!" Rosa yelled.
"He was also your husband." Doflamingo said. Rosa froze.
"How did you-"
"I'm not stupid, Rosa. The way you two acted around each other. The fact you still called him by that nickname instead of his name. And the look on your face when he spoke of adoption. I knew the second you two reunited." Doflamingo said. Rosa's heart broke again.
"So you killed him because of that?! You agreed never to harm my husband or daughter if I didn't run! I never ran!" She yelled.
"But you were planning to. And Rocinante betrayed us. He was a marine all along, but I'm sure you knew that already, didn't you?" Doflamingo asked.
"Law. What about Law? Where is Law?!" Rosa yelled.
"The marines took him in to custody. But with his White Lead disease, he won't be alive much longer." Doflamingo said.
"You heartless bastard!" Rosa cried. Doflamingo grabbed her face.
"You are not allowed to leave your bedroom unless summoned by me for the rest of our lives, Rosa." He said.
"I swear if you so much as track my daughter I will kill myself." She cried and then ran and returned to her room. Sobbing her heart out for her husband.
Time skip, 13 years
Rosa read the newspaper. She smiled as she saw two wanted posters folded inside the newspaper.
"Trafalgar Law, Captain of the Heart Pirates, known as the Surgeon of Death. Wow, Law. You found your cure and lived. And you grew up to be quite attractive. Roci would be proud of you." She said and flipped to the next one.
"Mizu D Lynn Aka, Cook of the Heart Pirates, Known as Time Witch. Look at you, baby girl. A strong pirate. And on Law's crew, too. Your father would be so happy." Rosa said happily. She looked out the window and over the Kingdom of Dressrosa.
"And an alliance with these Straw Hat Pirates. You're so strong." She sighed. She set the newspaper aside and picked up one of her many books.
The door to her room opened and Doflamingo walked in. Rosa raised her head from her book.
"Yes?" She asked. Doflamingo towered over her.
"Tell me, Rosa. Why were you in the market today?" He asked. Rosa looked at Doflamingo curiously.
"I haven't left this room all day." She said. Doflamingo leaned down over Rosa, his arms trapping her in her chair.
"You know what happens if you lie to me, Rosa." He said.
"You do that to me whenever you feel like it anyways, Doflamingo." She said. In the blink of an eye, he had her out of her chair and pinned to the bed. Her arms held over her head by one of his hands as he held her waist with the other.
"At noon today, two guards and thirteen civilians reported seeing you out in the market looking at swords. You aren't planning anything now, are you? After that incident thirteen years ago?" He threatened.
"I was never trained in the art of swordsmanship. I'm a doctor. And noon is when you sent Baby 5 to bring me my meal. You can verify with her that I was here the entire time." Rosa said. Doflamingo's hand slid beneath her skirt, hooking his fingers on her panties. He bit down on her neck and began to suck. Rosa just lied still. This had often happened enough over the past fifteen years that Rosa no longer fought. She just accepted that she was going to die here.
The door was flung open. Doflamingo growled at the man that had just thrown open the door.
"What the fuck do you want? Can't you see I'm trying to have a moment with my wife?!" He yelled.
"Forgive me, Young Master, but there was another report of seeing the Queen in town. The shopkeeper she spoke to reported that the woman claimed to be named Aka." The man said. Rosa felt her heart leap in both hope and fear. Hope that just maybe she might see her baby girl as a grown adult. Fear of what Doflamingo might do to her precious baby girl.
Doflamingo released Rosa and sat up. He looked over at the man, then down at Rosa. A grin stretched across his face again.
"I see... so my niece is wandering through my kingdom undisguised. She's either stupid or trying to lure me out. Well, if the Time Witch is here, then her captain must be nearby. I think I'll extend them a personal invitation to the palace." He said.
"Doflamingo, if you so much as touch my daughter I will end my life." Rosa threatened. Doflamingo grabbed her chin and grinned down at Rosa.
"I wouldn't dream of hurting the little darling, Rosa. Wouldn't dream of it." He said and forced a kiss on her lips before dismounting her and leaving the room, closing and locking the door behind him. Rosa growled and returned to her window, hoping that she might just catch a glimpse of her daughter.
Hours later, the entire palace shook and part of the wall in Rosa's room crumbled. She peered out and watched as the palace guards ran about.
"Your highness, I must ask you to stay where you are. Some pirates are attacking the kingdom and we were ordered to keep you safe." One said to her. Rosa turned her head to the side.
"Pirates?" She asked. Suddenly, a dagger struck the man in the throat and three figures ran down the hall, right past Rosa.
Rosa stepped out in the hall as she caught a glimpse of two of the intruders. The female of the three came to a halt. The two males also stopped when they realized she had.
The female turned and silver eyes met silver eyes with a sliver of amber in one. The younger female panted as her eyes filled with tears. Rosa's heart skipped a beat.
"Oi, who is she? Why does she look like Aka?" The younger male in the Straw Hat asked the taller male.
"Aka..." Rosa breathed. Aka blinked.
"Mom." Aka said. Aka ran up to Rosa and pulled her in to a tight hug. Rosa held to her baby.
"Mom." Aka cried.
"Aka... my baby girl..." Rosa cried. The women parted. Rosa held Aka's face in her hands.
"Look at you. You've grown up so well. And so beautiful. I'm so proud of you, baby. I love you, so much." She said. Aka hugged Rosa again.
"I knew you were alive." She whispered.
"Oh, she's Aka-chan's mom? That makes sense." The young male said. Rosa looked up and smiled at the boys. She held her hand out to the older of the two.
"Law... look at you... you found your cure and you grew up so well. And very handsome, too. Rocinante would be so proud of you." Rosa said happily to him. Law stepped forward and took her hand.
"Rosa-ya. I'm glad to see that you're well." He said with a soft smile. Rosa smiled brightly up at him.
"And I see you've been taking care of my baby girl." She said. Law nodded. Aka stepped back and wiped her eyes, then took Law's free hand.
"Mom, Law and I are-" she started. Rosa smiled.
"I see. I'm very happy for you. Rocinante would be excited. After all, he told me that he wanted to adopt Law. I think he'd be happy to hear about this." She said. Aka smiled. Law tugged her closer to him. Rosa took note of the rings on their left ring fingers.
Rosa pulled them both in for a hug. She felt joy rush through her body. Seeing them both filled her with joy.
"I know there is much you both wish to tell me, but you have a mission to do. We can catch up later." She said.
"Hey, Aka's Mom, my crew is further down. Head to them and they'll help you out of here!" The Straw Hat boy said. Rosa smiled and thanked him. She kisses Aka's forehead.
"Go." She said.
"I love you, Mom." Aka said. After that, they ran off.
Time skip
The purplette ran as fast as her legs would carry her. At the last second, she threw herself over Law's body and took the bullet for him.
"No!" He yelled as he caught her. She smiled weakly at him.
"It's okay..." she said. Law started to cry as she faded away. Doflamingo scowled.
"She's as stupid as her father was. Both should know not to get in my way." Doflamingo said.
"Guess again!" The second purplette jammed her knife in to his shoulder. He yelped and threw her aside.
"What?" He asked. The woman glared up at him.
"The woman you just killed was not Donquixote D Lynn Aka, but Donquixote D Rosa!" Aka yelled. Doflamingo twitched angrily.
"No.. you.. you made me kill my wife!" He yelled.
"I made you kill no one! She refused to let anyone harm her children because that's what a mother does. You've taken my mother away from me twice. You murdered her of your own accord! Just as you did with my father!" Aka yelled. Luffy sprung up from below and he and Doflamingo began their brawl. Aka knelt beside Law and held Rosa.
"Mom... Mama... please, don't leave me again." Aka whispered. Rosa smiled weakly up at her.
"Tell me... about your wedding day..." Rosa said. Aka bit her lip and fought back her cries.
"I wore a white dress... it was a goddess style... my hair was up in a bun... Law wore a suit... he looked so handsome... he held my hands and looked me in the eyes and told me he loved me... we kissed and we were married... about a year later... we had a baby..." she slowly stuttered out.
"A baby?... I have a grandchild?" Rosa asked. Aka nodded.
"A girl... her name is Trafalgar D Lynn Lami... we named her after Law's sister..." she cried. Rosa smiled.
"How sweet..." she said. Rosa closed her eyes and slipped away and passed on.
Time skip
Rosa opened her eyes. She looked around the area around her. Everything was white. She heard a chuckle.
"And I thought that I was the reckless one in our relationship." She heard. Rosa turned and stared up in awe.
"Rocinante..." she breathed. Her husband smiled down at her.
"You don't need to worry, Rosa. Aka and Law are alright. Law got his arm back and they defeated Doflamingo. They were reunited with their crew and daughter. Lami is such a cute little girl." He said. He held out his hand to her. She smiled and took his hand, allowing him to pull her to her feet and to his chest.
"You were so brave, Rosa. I love you, so much." He said.
"Rocinante... I missed you so much." She said. Rocinante kissed her head.
"Come on, love. Let's go watch our babies." He said. Rosa nodded and let her husband lead her to their next life.
[The End]
