They followed Star until they were less than a foot away from where the cage-carriers were exiting to rush into battle. Blaze had the idea to hide in the bushes so they wouldn't be seen. Star nodded, then they rushed in quiet as a mouse.
"This way," Star whispered. They were going through those long, empty, halls, winding through what seemed like a maze, with no life except the occasional cage-carrier, which they always avoided.
Then Precious noticed that little silver diamond-shaped scale on Star's forehead start to glow as if it was pure moonlight.
"We are close," Star whispered. Then they came to a door. Without thinking, Blaze grabbed the doorknob in her talons.
"Blaze, wait!" Precious whispered loudly. Too late. Blaze turned the knob and opened the door. A cage-carrier was waiting for them.
"Who goes there?!" he said, knocking things off his desk clumsily as if he just woke up.
Then the silver scale on Star's forehead, that mystical mysterious star, did something truly amazing. It started glowing, brighter and brighter until Precious was nearly blinded. The cage-carrier was spellbound, as if in a trance. Then Precious noticed star was changing. Star was growing, bigger and bigger. She was getting more muscle as well. Her wings changed to a lighter silver, and her eyes went from amber to red with gold flecks. She was growing horns, and seemed to become a totally new dragon.
"The Doomflame, the original..." Blaze whispered in awe.
"Let us pass!" Star commanded, her voice suddenly deep. Precious saw that Star still had that little star on her forehead, glowing still.
"Leave now, for I am the Doomflame of the black mambas! Doomflame is not my title, but it is and forever will be my name! Give us the key! For we will save the green and red will prevail! The red will not be destroyed!" Star screeched. The cage-carrier fumbled around a bit, but did eventually give the key to Star. Then, he ran away in terror.
Star held it in her talons. Then she started to transform back into her original body. She shrunk, horns disappeared, wings to normal, eyes back to amber. Star was back.
"What was that, Star?" Blaze shouted.
"My head hurts..." Star moaned, "Here is the key..." Precious took it, inserted in into the door, and twisted.
