Chapter Five
Three Months Later
Ira threw the man into the wall, tossing him in the air with her powers. He slammed into the floor, and she grabbed his gun, throwing it to Natasha, who used it to shoot a man coming towards her.
"Basement's secure," Ira said into the comms.
"Copy," Steve replied back. "Nat, you got the files?"
"Yep," She said, and stowed a flash drive safely in her pocket. Pietro and Clint ran into the room.
"Let's move," Clint said. Pietro sped over to Ira, and pecked her on the cheek. "Focus on the mission, Sonic." Clint told him dryly. Pietro rolled his eyes, and picked Ira up, running her to the Quinjet.
They had told about their relationship a few weeks before. The reactions from the team were as expected. Wanda had been understandably excited; her best friend and her brother were dating, after all. The reactions from the rest of the Avengers were positive, except for Steve and Clint. They had both become close to Ira, becoming her father-figures, of sorts. Steve had distrusted Pietro, but had quickly warmed up to him. Clint had yet to come around, due to his annoyance of Pietro's antics.
Pietro set Ira down in the Quinjet, and the blonde walked over to Steve. "Mission complete?" She asked. He nodded.
"It went as planned. The soldiers were taken into S.H.I.E.L.D custody, and Natasha downloaded the files. With luck, we'll find more secret HYDRA bases on that flash drive."
Ira sat back down next to Pietro, and waited for the others to come. Everyone was soon there, and Clint made his way to the pilot's seat. "Alright everyone, please put on your seatbelts, and make sure your tray tables are in the upright and locked position. Thank you for flying Barton Quality Airlines." He joked.
"I hate you," Natasha called from the back seat.
"I agree, this airline is hardly quality." Tony told him.
"Ignoring you," Clint stated.
The flight back was short, and Ira spoke with Pietro and Wanda most of the way. When they landed at the compound, Ira went to her room, and changed out of her clothes and into some workout clothes. She went to the training room, where there was now more equipment. She moved to the special room that Tony had designed specially for the Enhanced, and began shooting energy at the targets.
Steve and Natasha had been training the new team a lot the past three months. Ira had been practicing hand-to-hand combat, and developing her powers. She was now able to transmit her healing powers a short distance through the air, instead of having to touch the person she was trying to heal. She and Wanda had also been sparring, using their powers to combat each other. They both were becoming advanced in telekinesis and energy manipulation.
When they weren't training, they were on missions. They had started out easily, taking out a few small HYDRA bases, and had slowly increased in difficulty, where they were going undercover to investigate HYDRA. Ira loved every aspect of this life; she felt it was a penance for the crimes that she had committed under HYDRA. She also loved spending more time with the Avengers. They were becoming like her family, and she had developed a close bond with each of them.
Ira walked out of the special room, and into the main area. She did a few sprints around the tracks, before finding herself at the punching bags. Steve had recommended using them to help improve her combat technique, so she used them at least once a day. She wrapped her hands, before beginning to punch the bag.
She drove her fists into the red bag, keeping up a steady pace as she hit it over and over.
In a way, it also calmed her. She was able to get out all of the anger and stress from the day, without harming anyone. After about fifteen minutes, Pietro came. He started with laps around the track. He always did a few—for him that meant more than a dozen.
After he finished doing laps, Pietro came over to her and wrapped his arms around her. He clasped his hands around her waist, and leaned his head on her shoulder. "Pietro, I have to go." She said as she shrugged him off.
"Whatever you say, dragoste." He told her. She rolled her eyes at the nickname, and unwrapped her hands, throwing the wrappings in a pile in a basket.
"I'm going to go," she called to him as she left. She walked to her room, and closed the door. She undressed, and climbed into the shower. It was hard to get used to being able to shower for as long as she liked. When Ira, Pietro, and Wanda had lived at the HYDRA base, they weren't allowed such pleasures. In fact, everything around her was better. The bed was nicer, her room was bigger, and she wasn't a glorified weapon.
After she showered, she checked the clock. One-ten. She went to the kitchen, and made herself a sandwich. She sat on the couch next to Clint. Ira eyed his plate. He had a big pile of chips, two whole sandwiches, and a small apple. "You're going to eat all of that?" She asked him.
He moved his plate protectively toward him, and nodded. Seeing her look of disbelief, he defended himself. "What? I didn't eat breakfast!"
"You had four waffles!" She shot back.
"Still." He pouted, and took a big bite of his sandwich.
She rolled her eyes. She turned on the TV, and gave the remote to Clint. He began looking for something to watch. She reached over while he was distracted, and snuck a chip from his plate. His head immediately turned, as if sensing someone had stolen his food.
"What's in your mouth?" He asked her suspiciously.
"Nofing." She mumbled, her mouth full of chip. He rolled his eyes.
"That is the last time you steal my food."
"You want to make a bet?" She asked mischievously. She used her telekinesis, and lifted a chip from his plate. He sulked, and turned his body to guard his plate. She rolled her eyes, and floated the chip back onto his plate. He turned towards her, and narrowed his eyes. "
If you ever take my food again..." He threatened.
She smiled, and ate her sandwich. She went to put her plate in the sink, and frowned as she dug coffee grounds out of the garbage disposal. She wrinkled her nose as she threw the wet paste into the garbage bin. "I bet it's Vision," she murmured to herself.
"Ira," Clint called from the couch. "I'm supposed to remind you that we have a mission briefing at four."
"Thanks. I won't forget." Ira walked to her room, and passed Natasha on the way.
"I heard you and Clint talking." Natasha told her. "What did you learn?"
"Don't come between Clint and his food," Ira replied. Natasha laughed.
"Typical Clint," She murmured as she walked away.
Ira went into her room, and grabbed a book from her bookshelf. She laid down on her bed, and began to read, waiting for the time to pass.

By the time she was done with the novella, it was two-thirteen, and she heard a knock on the door. "Come in," she called as she went to put her book back on the shelf. Wanda walked in.
"Hey," She said, and Ira smiled back. "I was wondering if you wanted to come train with me."
"Sure," Ira said. "Just let me change." Wanda left, and Ira changed in to workout clothes again. Even though she had already trained, it was always better with more people, and you could never train too much.
They walked to the training room together. Wanda went to the special room, while Ira went to practice her flight. She took a deep breath, and energy gathered in her hands. She used it to propel herself forward and off of the ground. She managed to stay in the air for around half a minute. She lowered to the ground, and joined Wanda in the special room.
"Do you want to fight?" Ira suggested. Wanda nodded, and they both took up stances on opposite ends of the room. Wanda went a blast of energy at Ira, but she deflected it. Ira swirled her hands, creating a midnight blue orb of energy that she hurled at Wanda. While Wanda deflected it, Ira sent another blast of energy at her. It hit her in the side, but did no damage. They both had made sure to use weaker blasts of energy. The fight continued like this for a few minutes, until they both agreed to stop.
"We should go get ready for the mission debriefing." Ira said, as she and Wanda left the training room. Ira went back to her room and took a quick shower, lightly washing her body to get rid of sweat.
She changed into appropriate clothes, and then went to the briefing room. Steve, Clint, and Natasha were already there. They were talking about something, but stopped when she came in. She frowned. "What were you guys talking about?" She asked.
More muttering followed from there. "She has to know. She has to be prepared." Natasha murmured, and Clint and Steve nodded.
"We'll tell the whole team when they get here," Steve told her. She nodded.
She sat down, and soon the rest of the Avengers trickled into the room one by one. "Alright everyone," Steve began. "We have a new mission coming up next week. There has been an Enhanced individual who had figured out a way to strip other Enhanced of their powers." Ira froze. Someone who could potentially take away Wanda, Pietro, and her powers?
"From intel we have gathered, we know that she plans to sell their powers to potential criminals." He leaned on the table, looking at them with all seriousness in his eyes. "If these criminals get these powers, and inject them into themselves or others, they can create a powerful army. One that we might not be able to stop. That's why, we have to stop it now. Cut the tree from its roots. We have reason to believe that she is near Sokovia, so that's where we'll be going."
Ira's breath hitched in her throat. Sokovia. Her home. She looked at Pietro and Wanda. They looked the same as she did; scared, and confused. "Who is it?" Ira piped up. "Who would do something like this?" She already had a sneaking suspicion, a nagging voice in the back of her mind, telling her something that she didn't want to hear. A pit filled her stomach.
"You three already know her." Steve told the Enhanced. Ira's heart sank. Her suspicion was confirmed. "The person responsible for this is Emilia Crucil. She's still alive."
